Chapter 102: Wang Baole: This Is the First Time I've Seen Someone Make Robbery Sound So Fun
Within the Yunmeng Swamp.
A chubby young man carrying a cleaver on his back was running full speed ahead.
Wherever he went, he drew attention. From time to time, bursts of laughter could be heard.
That chubby young man was none other than Wang Baole. When he left Wendao Academy, he wasn't wearing the uniform of an outer sect disciple.
Clothed in ordinary garb, with a large and eye-catching cleaver strapped to his back, he naturally stood out among the crowd of cultivators in the Yunmeng Swamp.
Wang Baole paid no attention to the laughter around him. The moment he entered the swamp, he immediately began searching for tasty demon beasts.
Before arriving, he had specially asked his second senior brother for a map of the Yunmeng Swamp.
His second senior brother had even thoughtfully marked out the regions where Dao Foundation and True Fate realm beasts were active.
He also told Wang Baole which beasts tasted the most delicious and unique.
His current target was the Snowflake Deer in the Yunmeng Swamp.
These deer were generally at the Dao Foundation or True Fate realm. Occasionally, there might be a Deer King, but even that was only at half-step Heaven Origin.
As long as he didn't provoke the Deer King, he wouldn't run into too much trouble.
The Snowflake Deer typically stayed near Little Cold Lake within the Yunmeng Swamp.
Due to years of drinking the lake's cold water, their meat was especially tender and flavorful—better than other beasts of the same realm.
However, hunting a Snowflake Deer wasn't easy. Even those at the Dao Foundation realm were as fast as True Fate realm beasts.
They also had a built-in snow-and-wind divine art, and their escape abilities were practically maxed out.
Wang Baole was lucky. When he arrived near Little Cold Lake, he happened upon a herd of Snowflake Deer drinking water.
Even while drinking, the deer were extremely alert, with several of them on watch.
Trying to ambush them from behind wouldn't be easy.
Though Wang Baole had no hunting experience, he at least knew charging in recklessly was a bad idea.
He hid behind a tree, observing in secret and carefully selecting a target.
In less than the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, Wang Baole set his sights on a Snowflake Deer with an injured leg.
Judging by the aura it gave off, this deer was in the late stage of Dao Foundation.
With his current blade skills, it was impossible to kill it from a distance.
Where should he strike from?
Just as Wang Baole was pondering this, a sharp whoosh sliced through the air.
An arrow shot out from the left side of the forest, lightning-fast, and pierced right through a Snowflake Deer's head.
The surrounding deer sensed danger and immediately stampeded—straight toward Wang Baole's position.
Delighted, Wang Baole rejoiced, 'Heaven is helping me today!'
He drew the cleaver from his back, and just as the deer passed by, his blade flashed—two Snowflake Deer collapsed on the spot.
The herd hadn't expected someone to be lying in ambush here, and chaos broke out. The formation scattered and fled into the woods.
Wang Baole didn't give chase. He waited until the herd had vanished into the trees, then stepped forward and stored the two deer he had slain into his storage pouch.
"Stop right there!"
A booming voice rang out from the woods behind, halting Wang Baole mid-motion.
A burly middle-aged man with a bow slung over his back strode out from the forest.
He eyed Wang Baole carefully and demanded, "Kid, don't you know the rules?"
Wang Baole froze for a moment, then asked in return, "What rules?"
As he spoke, his mind raced, recalling the survival rules his second senior brother had told him for the Yunmeng Swamp.
He quickly caught on—this guy wanted to rob him.
The burly man said, "That herd of Snowflake Deer was targeted by our squad first. It was this grandmaster here who fired the first arrow—that's why they ran in your direction!"
"You're supposed to hand the prey over to our squad first. Then we split it according to the usual rules."
Wang Baole couldn't help but laugh at his words. Smiling, he said, "This is the first time I've seen someone make robbery sound so amusing.
By your logic, I was the one who spotted the Snowflake Deer first. If you hadn't startled them with your arrow, I would've taken them all down myself. Don't you think you owe me ten deer?"
The smile on the burly man's face instantly vanished, his eyes narrowing. "So, you're not giving face, huh? In that case, I'll just take both you and the deer!"
As he spoke, he slowly drew the long blade from his waist.
Wang Baole didn't look frightened at all. In fact, he looked even more excited. He hadn't expected to run into robbers after only two days in the Yunmeng Swamp—he could finally put his blade skills to the test.
Still, he didn't make the first move. Instead, he said calmly, "Go ahead and call out your teammates too. Save me the trouble of having to hunt them down afterward."
As soon as he finished speaking, a loud voice came from the nearby forest:
"Arrogant brat! You think you can challenge us Cold-Blooded Seven Hawks all by yourself?"
As the voice echoed, figures began to emerge one after another from the woods.
They each approached from different directions, but together they completely cut off Wang Baole's escape routes.
One of them, a young man with dyed green hair, sneered. "Third Brother, look at this kid. He's clearly some clueless country bumpkin. Even if you told him our name, he probably wouldn't know how infamous we are.
Still, we've gotta thank him today. If it weren't for his slash that messed up the herd's formation, it would've been much harder to catch any of the Snowflake Deer alive."
Upon hearing this, Wang Baole raised his eyebrows at the burly man who'd stopped him earlier and said, "Did you hear that? If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have had such a big haul. Hurry up and hand over your deer for me to divide."
The temperature around them plummeted.
The Cold-Blooded Seven Hawks had ruled the Yunmeng Swamp for years, but never before had they encountered such a fearless lunatic. Their eyes now gleamed with killing intent.
Wang Baole was excellent at reading people. The moment he sensed their bloodlust, he instinctively tightened his grip on the cleaver in his hand.
The burly man barked at the others, "Seal off all escape routes! Don't let him get away. I'll kill him myself!"
Wang Baole grinned. "Now, that's not very nice. I was just treating you the same way you treated me, and you're already throwing a tantrum."
"Die!"
With a furious roar, the burly man slashed his blade down at Wang Baole.
Clang!
A wave of deadly blade energy surged toward Wang Baole.
But in the next second, the man's expression froze. That chubby kid had casually raised his cleaver—and effortlessly neutralized the entire attack.
"Too slow."
Wang Baole casually muttered those three words and flicked his blade.
Clang!
A flash of steel streaked through the air. The burly man suddenly felt blinded, and the next moment, a searing pain erupted in his chest.
Instinctively, he looked down—only to see blood gushing from his heart like a fountain
