Chapter 105: Chu Feng: Tonight, Do What You've Always Wanted to Do
"Elder Bing, let's skip the foot-washing tonight."
Night had fallen. Bing Yan opened her door, about to fetch water for Chu Feng, when she suddenly heard his voice from the room next door.
Creaaak!
Just as she turned her head to ask, the door opened, and Chu Feng walked out holding a wooden sword.
Elder Bing instinctively asked, "Head Chu, are you going out?"
"No. We're going out together."
Chu Feng's lips curled slightly.
"Where to?" Elder Bing looked at him in confusion.
Chu Feng rested the sword behind his back. "Naturally, to do what you've always wanted to do."
???
Elder Bing was even more confused, but a thought suddenly flashed through her mind. She asked hesitantly, "You're going to teach me the Taiji Sword Technique?"
"Correct."
Chu Feng's smile faded, and he replied earnestly, "But before that, I need you to agree to one condition."
"What condition?"
There was a trace of caution in Elder Bing's gaze. Although she longed to learn the Taiji Sword Technique, she wasn't someone who would accept just any condition.
Sensing her wariness, Chu Feng chuckled. "No need to be nervous. I just want you to take me as your master. That's not too much, is it?"
Elder Bing let out a quiet breath of relief. "Of course. You and my master, the Carefree Sword King, are on equal footing. According to Wendao Academy's rules, if I want to learn from you, I must formally pay respects as a disciple."
With that, she bowed to Chu Feng. "Student Bing Yan greets Master Chu."
"At ease."
Chu Feng smiled slightly. At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in his mind.
[Congratulations, Host. You have gained one registered disciple. You will now receive enhanced rewards based on what the registered disciple learns from you.]
Hearing the system's announcement, Chu Feng's smile deepened. Tonight, he was only using Elder Bing as a test case to see if the system's registered disciple status could be exploited.
To his surprise, the system had responded quite flexibly.
"Thank you, Teacher," Elder Bing said respectfully. She had waited a long time for this moment. She had been in the Miscellaneous Dao Institute for seven or eight months—any longer, and she might have missed her chance to ever learn the Taiji Sword Technique.
"Let's go."
Chu Feng rose into the air, flying toward the small grove where Elder Bing used to practice swordsmanship in secret.
She followed closely behind. Upon landing and seeing the familiar surroundings, her face flushed red.
Fortunately, the moonless night and Chu Feng's complete focus on something else spared her from being noticed.
Chu Feng asked, "Elder Bing, is your body a Sacred Constitution or Divine Constitution?"
"I possess the Ice Soul Sacred Constitution."
"Oh?"
Chu Feng paused. "You and your disciple share the same Sacred Constitution?"
Elder Bing nodded slightly. "Yes. That was one of the reasons I took Xiaorou in as a disciple. I was blind to your greatness back then, Head Chu. I hope you can forgive me."
"It's fine. You've already paid the price for your arrogance. If you feel bad about it, just remember to use your own hands when you wash my feet in the future. I'm rather lazy."
Chu Feng spouted nonsense with a straight face.
Elder Bing paused. Of course she understood what Chu Feng meant by "use your own hands," but in all her years, she had never washed the feet of any man.
"I'll… give it a try."
Chu Feng shifted the topic. "Enough of that. Elder Bing, your sword intent is at the perfected level, right?"
"Yes. My sword intent is complete. I can enter the great perfection realm at any time. Once I do, I'll be ready to break through to Nirvana."
Whenever Elder Bing talked about cultivation, she seemed like a different person—standing there with a presence that felt untouchable.
"I see. That saves me quite a bit of trouble. Let's begin."
With that, Chu Feng stepped forward, the wooden sword in his hand beginning to move.
Elder Bing didn't dare to lose focus for even a moment. She watched Chu Feng's every move with complete concentration.
She saw the sword in Chu Feng's hand move from slow to fast, and before she realized it, two images of Chu Feng suddenly appeared in front of her.
One was black, the other white. The white figure was bathed in countless starlight, standing there like a radiant star.
The black figure seemed to gather all the darkness of night into itself, blending completely into the shadows.
Black and white intertwined—no, it was yin and yang in perfect harmony.
The thought struck Elder Bing with a powerful shock. She had never imagined that what seemed like a simple sword technique actually contained the Great Dao of Yin and Yang.
More importantly, Chu Feng's sword technique seemed to be more than just mastery—it held within it the essence of Sword Dao itself.
Even her own master had only just barely grasped a sliver of Sword Dao's true meaning.
And yet Chu Feng, at such a young age, had already comprehended it.
No wonder Xiao Chen had achieved such greatness in so little time!
When the full set of sword forms ended, the illusions before Elder Bing vanished in an instant.
Chu Feng stood there calmly. He looked no different than usual—just like a quiet scholar.
It was difficult to connect this mild-mannered man with the transcendental swordsman who had just danced through the night.
Seeing Elder Bing's dazed expression, Chu Feng asked plainly, "How much did you remember?"
Only then did she return to her senses. "I remembered it all… but somehow also nothing. All that remains in my mind is the Dao of Yin and Yang."
Chu Feng praised her, "As expected of an elder from the Heavenly Spirit Institute. That level of talent is second only to Xiao Chen."
Elder Bing didn't feel upset by Chu Feng's comment about her not being as gifted as Xiao Chen. Xiao Chen's talent in Sword Dao was recognized as the best in Wendao Academy in centuries.
"I ask that you demonstrate it once more, Teacher."
"Very well."
Chu Feng nodded and drew his sword once again.
A short while later, Elder Bing, having observed the entire sword form, slowly closed her eyes and sat down cross-legged on the spot, beginning her comprehension.
Chu Feng didn't disturb her. He walked under a nearby tree, lay down, and quietly gazed up at the stars above.
Half an hour later, a familiar voice rang in his mind.
[Congratulations, Host. Registered disciple Bing Yan has entered the beginner level of Taiji Sword Technique. Sword Dao Comprehension +1.]
Chu Feng's eyes lit up instantly. With a sharp motion, he leapt to his feet.
Elder Bing slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Chu Feng, she immediately stood and bowed.
"Thank you for your guidance, Teacher."
"Alright, now that the side matter is settled, it's time we got back to our main task."
As Chu Feng spoke, he soared into the air on his sword.
At the mention of "main task," Elder Bing couldn't help but recall the words "wash feet with my own hands," and her face flushed bright red.
She followed him through the air and asked, "Teacher, aren't you worried that after learning the Taiji Sword Technique, I might pass it on to my disciples and have them defeat Xiao Chen in the upcoming tournament?"
Chu Feng laughed. "Of course not. You've only just started grasping the intent of the Taiji Sword. You're already thinking about passing it down?"
Elder Bing was momentarily stunned and didn't know what to say.
Chu Feng continued, "Even if you do teach it to them now, they wouldn't be able to comprehend the sword intent before the competition. My techniques aren't something just anyone can learn.
And even if someone did manage to grasp a bit of it by luck, they'd only serve as whetstones on Xiao Chen's path to invincibility."
Upon hearing this, Elder Bing was suddenly enlightened. So this was why Chu Feng had no fear of others stealing his techniques—everything he created was tailored to his disciples.
"Thank you for the instruction, Teacher. I will keep tonight's events to myself and never pass on this sword technique lightly."
???
Chu Feng turned to look at Elder Bing with a puzzled expression and thought to himself: 'Was tonight's event really that big of a secret?'
