Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

What was Alex's job as Diana's personal assistant? Well, it turned out to be a lot.

He was responsible for planning her schedule, acting as a gatekeeper, meaning filtering what messages and requests actually made it to her. He handled her travel arrangements, booked hotels, and managed any last-minute changes. It was his job to keep everything organized—tracking expenses, submitting reports, managing projects, and coordinating with other departments.

And that wasn't all. He also helped prepare Diana with briefs, key data, and talking points before important meetings. The more he learned, the clearer it became—this was a super important job that demanded focus, loyalty, and discretion.

So yeah, Alex was shocked he'd been given the opportunity. Of course, Diana had more than one assistant. No single person could handle everything… right?

"You did all of this last night?" Diana asked, stunned as she looked over the email Alex had sent around 9 PM. It was impressive—shockingly so. He had managed to complete tasks that normally required more than one person.

Alex had gone through her entire schedule and reorganized it to maximize her time. He'd factored in travel, location transitions, and small details others often overlooked. The result? Diana now had at least two full days of free time in her week—unless something urgent came up.

The expenses were also tracked, and Alex had included a detailed report outlining exactly where the money was going. To Diana's frustration, the numbers revealed something troubling—some people in the company were siphoning funds. She made a mental note to deal with that later.

"You even went through my slides… and improved them," she said, scrolling through the updated presentation. "You would've only had about four hours to do all of this…"

She turned to Alex, disbelief written across her face. "So how?"

"I go to school, and I've done a lot of this before," Alex explained calmly. It wasn't exactly the answer Diana was looking for, but as he spoke, something clicked. His memory. It was nearly perfect.

Alex recalled every detail effortlessly, explaining his process with precision. Curious, Diana tested him. To her surprise, he recited entire sections of the report word for word—and then did it again, backwards.

That was how he managed to do everything in just four hours. But that was only part of the reason.

This wasn't Alex's first life. He carried with him the experience and the power of a past life. A unique ability that allowed him to kill his limitations and go beyond both mental and physical limitations.

It was the reason behind his perfect memory. The reason he seemed flawless. While working the night before, Alex wasn't just completing tasks—he was learning at an incredible pace, so fast it might as well have been instant.

And he wasn't alone in it, either. Alex had also created an AI, designed to help him process vast amounts of information efficiently and accurately—another tool that helped him exceed expectations.

Although the A.I. wasn't as powerful as it could've been—mainly because Alex lacked the resources to build a fully optimized version—it still significantly reduced the time he needed to research and process information, among other tasks.

So yeah, Alex quickly became one of Diana's most trusted right hands.

With the potential he'd shown, he was soon handling all the critical responsibilities. And when Diana suddenly vanished for some unexpected reasons, without warning, it was Alex who was left in charge, until she returned.

Just one week after getting hired, Alex was enjoying his day off, with his first paycheck sitting in his account.

Honestly, he hadn't expected it to be so high. He was so sure it was a mistake that Diana had to personally reassure him the number was accurate.

The amount he received was easily what someone might save up after a full year working at a place like McDonald's—probably even more, considering how much of that income usually went toward bills and everyday expenses.

"This thing has 128 GB of memory?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow as he examined the PC in front of him.

"Yes, but that's just the basics," the young man beside him said, practically glowing with excitement. "It's running a QuantumFusion processor—64 cores, 128 threads, base speed of 7.5 GHz!"

He gave Alex a full breakdown, clearly proud of the machine. To say the least, this PC was the best of the best.

This PC was so powerful it could run an ultra-realistic version of Minecraft without turning into an atomic bomb. No lag, no overheating, no hiccups—just pure, smooth performance.

Of course, that kind of power came with a price. Over $19,000, to be exact. And Alex was going to buy it.

He didn't earn money just to look at it—he earned it to spend it on whatever he wanted. This new world's technology far surpassed anything from his old life, so it would be a waste not to enjoy the best it had to offer. Then again… even this wasn't truly the best.

Alex knew the true cutting-edge tech—the real best of the best—was locked away in the hands of billionaires or genius-level superheroes. But he didn't care. He wasn't buying this PC to show it off—he planned to break it down, tweak it, and improve it. What he really wanted was the QuantumFusion processor.

This was the first time the QuantumFusion had ever been made available to the public. According to the hype, it could eliminate all delays, processing, rendering, loading times, everything. In Alex's past life, he'd played a lot of games. One title still stood out in his memory: Cyberpunk 2077.

This processor claimed it could run dozens of games like that simultaneously—without a single drop in performance. That was more than impressive. It was shocking.

Anyway, Alex went ahead and bought everything, walking out of the LexCorp Tech Store with only $3,000 left in his account.

He hopped into his car, ready to leave Metropolis behind. He'd come all this way just to see for himself which PC was truly the best, and now he had it.
