Chapter 2 - Unsettling Revelations

Without hesitation I went into jeremy's car with my heart racing and my fingers shaking I thought, was I hallucinating or was my hallucination not a hallucination at all?.

So without wasting anymore time I put the key in ignition and started the car but so many thoughts raced through my mind when i started the car, but i had to hit the road.

"I gripped the steering wheel tightly,my heart still racing with fear as i drove down the road heading to my house".

I finally got to my house without any other problems or wierd feelings flowing through— my heart was still racing from the unsettling experience.

Getting to the door step of my house I brought out my key to open the door but to a big surprise someone was already in the house,so I twisted the doorknob slowly which made a faint squeak sound, walking slowly into the house.

Calling out to my mom to see if she was the one "mom! Are you home?" I said, with a hint of uncertainty my body still trembling with fear, but nobody responded so then I proceeded towards the kitchen and to my surprise there she was sitting by the countertop with her computer and then I let out a great sigh of relief but she didn't notice me.

I asked "what happened today? why did you come home early?" my voice being laced with both excitement and a hint of weirdness.

"I asked my boss for permission to come home cause I wasn't feeling ok, but how was school?" She said, looking back into her computer.

"school was great, I had fun", I said with a false tone, turning my back to head upstairs.

she yelled "aren't you hungry?" with her voice filled with concern, "nope, I've already eaten something outside." I replied.

Rushing up the stairs with my heart pounding feeling like it was ready to jump right out of my chest and scream,"see you later sucker."

I stormed into my room, tossed my bag aside and immediately brought out my phone to call Jeremy,my hand still shaking from the incident in the parking lot.

Calling his phone numerous times he didn't pick, I tried calling him again.

"common Jeremy pick the damn phone," I muttered as I paced back and forth in my room.

Something the voice said hit me that moment,"I know you have the book miles Morgan", and yet again i stood in my room,my mind was a mealstrom of terror,my thoughts racing with worst- case scenarios.

I felt like i was trapped in a never ending nightmare, with no escape in sight— these questions flooded my mind, what book was he talking about?,and worst of all, how does it know my name and then that fear returned once more finding it's way to me and i then i became pale

Sitting on the right side of my bed, the sheets slightly wrinkled beneath me, my fingers tracing absent patterns along the fabric. The Moonlight poured through the window, silver and quiet, stretching long shadows across the floor.I stared at it,lost in the weight of what happened ,replaying every detail.

Then—the phone rang.

The sharp sound jolted through the silence, snapping me back. My breath caught. I quickly picked up the phone to see who it was.

It was jeremy.

I picked up the phone with shaking hands, Jeremy's name lighting up the screen. I answered.

" dude, what the hell is wrong with you, I called you several times— but you didn't pick,"I said, my voice tight, still raw from what happened in the parking lot. Fear hadn't left; It just shifted — my heart filled with concern, beating ten times of what it beats.

"I'm sorry dude,me and stephany went to a restaurant, I had to put my phone on DND to avoid distractions — but why were you calling?," Jeremy said, his voice sounding like he hadn't slept in days. His tone wasn't defensive, just weighed down.

My heart reducing the rate at which it was beating before.

I said,"fine, I wanted to talk to you about something but i guess it will have to wait till tomorrow,"whispering softly for mom no to hear me.

"Ok, good night then," Jeremy said, ending the call without any other word.

I stepped into the shower, letting the water run over me as I stood there a little longer than I needed to,lost in thought. My mind wandered through everything that happened, but slowly, the tightness in my chest eased. My heart wasn't racing anymore. My breath had calmed down.

When I finally stepped out, I dried off, got dressed, and lay down on the bed. I closed my eyes— just for a moment, I thought. But before I knew it I slept off. Surprisingly, I drifted off without a fight.

I blinked awake, sunlight slicing through the window in bursts, straight into my face— damn, I can't believe I slept after all the drama from last night.

It was 15 MARCH, it was the D-day, prom was finally here and today was the day i was going to tell jeremy what happened yesterday.

I padded downstairs and found Mom at the kitchen counter, cradling her coffee like it was the only thing keeping her alive

"Good morning," I mumbled.

She looked at me with a bright smile "Good morning! Do know what today is?"

I raised an eyebrow.

"It's prom day!" she said, grinning like it was her big night.

"Yeah, I know," I said with a faint grin.

I headed to the fridge, pulled out the milk and grabbed the cereal from the cabinet. The cruch sound echoed as i dug in,Mom watched me from her spot by the counter.

Walking up to me,"Your dad would be so proud of you," she said, voice soft but full of meaning. She pressed a kiss to the top of my head, then gave a gentle pat on the back.

"You can take the car," she said as she walked away to get to work, pausing just long enough before smirking." But if you crash it you're grounded."

Smiling, I grabbed the keys with joy and rushed upstairs to freshen up and go to jeremy's.
