Whatever Renny, it feels like you always do and i don't like that! I have to shout sometimes to get your attention said Lily frustratedly.

I just smiled then went up to her and pressed on her forehead with my index finger.

A little thank you for making me get out of my "zoning out" period. I stood up after saying that and went out of the classroom before she could respond back.

I smiled briefly, i wish i was with Lily a little bit longer but i had to get home early that day. That's what my mom said, she didn't even give me a reason, she just said be home right after school ends. Now she got me all curious why she wanted me home this early. She says that i should NEVER go outside when it's dark, actually she has forbid me to do so. So i've never been outside after 7pm before, but one day i will!
I opened my locker and took my school books out and put it inside my school bag. Tomorrow i've got a important test so i need to study, i said to myself. But something in the corner caught my eye.
What's this? I decided to walk towards it, I bent down to pick up this mysterious green looking object. It reminded me of crackers because of the size and how thin it was, but it's green and has these lines and tiny dots on it.
I had never seen anything like this before. What was this thing? Luckily a teacher was walking nearby and i got the idea of asking him what it was. Maybe the teacher knew something?
*Oh he knew*
Eh, sir! The teacher turned back to see who was calling him. Oh Ren is there something you wanted to tell me?
Yeah there actually is! Do you know what this is? I handed him the green looking cracker thing and his face changed from being calm and curious to stressed and worried almost in an instant.
Ehm! Ah- haha... ehm- I don- oh yeah shoot i got to go now i have an important meeting i have to attend, you should go home! NOW! said the teacher while walking away it was almost like he was running away not walking.
I was left confused and i was left with more questions then before. Why did he look so stressed? had he seen this thing before? I wanted to know. I looked at the time, it was already a little bit past 3 i had to get home before my mom became mad.
I put the green thingy inside my pocket, picked up my school bag and left school. Immediately after i opened the doors the sunlight struck my face almost making me blind for a second. You could see people riding their horses going home. The homeless begging from the rich, who had suits on every single day to show and flex on the poor. And the strong accents the rich had tends to make it easy to pin point who is rich even if they don't have a suit on (which is rare). Anyways the sweet smell of freshly baked bread is always so refreshing, makes me forget about all the problems of this city (almost). But even after the smell of newly baked bread there is still shit on the streets! People are just throwing their own shit in the middle of the city!
It's whatever, anyways mom told me to go and buy some bread. I should go and buy some before she gets mad.
I head downtown to go to the bread store my mom likes, i don't know why but she likes this random store in downtown that no one goes to and is always empty. But i don't complain because that means i can be outside for longer.
This place always creeps me out... I have to go through an alleyway to get to this place, and there is always these creeps just touching me and making me feel uncomfortable.
I get to the alleyway and get my courage up to go through it. I've been here a lot to buy bread so i know all the people "living" in this place, but that day there was someone new. I try to squeeze my way through this narrow path with all the people touching me, i try to not give them attention so they will stop touching me and let me go.
I notice there is someone new i've never seen here before, i just think he has "moved" here recently. He looks to be my age a bit older maybe, 2 or 3 years older. But he is covered in dirt and mud, like he was pushed and beaten. I glance at him before i look away so he doesn't think i'm looking at him, but somehow he does notice. The guy jumpes up from where he was sitting down and starts to yell and telling me this,
YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THIS PLACE!
THIS IS NOT REAL!
NOTHING OF THIS IS REAL!
WE ALL ARE DREAMING!
FIND A WAY TO ESCAPE!
Suddenly the others "living" there started to run towards him and tackled him down, they put a piece of cloth inside his mouth so he couldn't yell anymore. After that someone came up to me and said
Don't mind him, he has lost it, he doesn't know what he is talking about young man!
I was to shocked to speak so i just nodded, and went my way to buy bread.
After i bought the bread i went back to that alleyway and saw the guy was nowhere to be found. I didn't ask around, it wasn't any of my business, but i wondered where that guy went.
When i arrived home the clock was 16:23 my mom was pissed at me and wondered why i came late. I just told her that i bought the bread she asked for and it took a while to get it, she was hesitant to believe me but later she gave up and believed me.
Few hours went by and the time was well over 7pm and i was curious about the outside. I usually watched out from the window to see the outside but it was always so dark and me and my mom used to live in the forest so we couldn't see far because of the trees! But i have heard stories from my mom that there are monsters outside when it becomes dark so that's why she doesn't let me go outside. But i don't believe in that.
Mom!
Yes honey?
Why don't you let me go outside?
I have told you many times, there are monsters! And i don't want to lose you like your father. Said my mom. But mom, I'm 17 and I'm almost a grown up, you still treat me like a child!
Ren i said no. A no is a no. Got that?
Alright...
Now go to sleep, you have an important test tomorrow.
I said goodnight to my mom, then i went to the toilet to brush my teeth. While i was brushing my teeth i was thinking of what that guy told me.

How can someone get to that point of craziness i thought in my head. This is not real? what is he talking about? right... how can this not be real? if it's not real then how am i touching myself on the arm? and i have 5 fingers on both hands, i have heard that if your dreaming you have more or less fingers. Well i have 5 on both. And besides if i was dreaming i would've noticed it by now. Sad thing is that, he looked my age. How can someone get that level of craziness while they're so young?
This is too much thinking. I spat the toothpaste in the sink and looked myself in the mirror, and started giggling a bit. Yeah right "we all are dreaming" hahaha. I splashed the water on my face and took a towel and cleaned my face.
I went straight to bed, i was really tired from all the things that happened that day, so i slept almost instantly. *But something big was waiting*
Suddenly i started dreaming about what the guy said.

I coudln't stop the dream, how hard i tried, i couldn't wake up.

I don't know how but i managed to wake myself up. My heart was racing, why was i seeing that guy's face in my dream, and why was i dreaming about what he said. This is real.
Suddenly far away, in the edge of the city there was an explosion. I quickly stood up and went to the window to see what happened. But i couldn't see anything. I went outside my room and then went to my moms room to see if she heard it as well. But she wasn't in her room. I went down stairs and looked everywhere but she wasn't in the house, she was nowhere to be seen.
Curious me, i wanted to go and look what that explosion was. But my mom had told me to never go outside when it's night. But I'm not 10 anymore, I'm 17!
I ran to the front door, and looked at it, i looked around and saw that the time was 02:54. I took some big breaths and got the courage to open the door. I put my hand on the door handle and opened it. I expected a monster to eat me exactly right after i opened the door but there wasn't one. I took a step outside and looked around. I did it i was outside in the night.
*I wish i hadn't taken that step*
