Life for Japanese high school students isn't as high-pressure as one might imagine. At least, for the majority who aren't aiming for prestigious universities like Todai with plans to enter politics or marry into wealthy conglomerates, they just need to complete the minimum required coursework to graduate smoothly.
The remaining time at school can be dedicated to club activities and the like.
Hanakain Fubuki was no exception; in fact, the very reason he attended Kuoh Academy was for its clubs.
And so, after toughing it out through the morning's academic classes, the time finally arrived for afternoon club activities.

As the piercing, yet blissfully liberating, end-of-class bell rang from the speaker above the classroom door, the teacher at the podium closed their textbook precisely on time. "That's all for this lesson," they announced, then turned and left the classroom with their teaching materials.
The atmosphere in the classroom instantly relaxed. Students' faces, previously slightly tense from concentrating hard on understanding the lesson, eased up. Some even broke into smiles, standing up and calling out to friends in the same club to head out together to their meeting spots.
After all, classes had a certain degree of compulsion, while club activities were for pursuing personal interests and hobbies... or, to put it bluntly, just hanging out and having fun with friends.
