Chapter 17 - Chapter - 16 The Twilight protagonist

The dark night sky unfolded like a beautiful tapestry, dotted with an array of shimmering lights in shades of purple-blue and black, creating a truly breathtaking vista.

Within Atheria's landscape, with its millions of miles of natural formations and diverse landmass, was equally stunning.

As the night's vibrant hues illuminated the world, countless beings began to revel in its magnificent splendor.

It indeed was a genuine spectacle to regard.

The sky had an absurd number of stars, each one competing with the other to make their glint the most notable.

It was as if a master artist painted the canvas of the sky with flawless detail and paid quintessential attention to detail.

Of course, this world boasts an incredibly stunning landscape, with every creature intricately crafted by the [Great One]. While it may not possess the power to influence its world with either malice or grace, it is undeniably still its world!

And yet those wretches of beings dare attempt to cultivate his world!

Bloody Immortals with their lust for power!

Demons with their damn conquest for pain!

Deities and their ignorant pride!

Gods and their fucking arrogance!

Hell no!

As if the [Great One] would allow such fruitless endeavors to take place.

In great annoyance, the [Great One] granted Lux a portion of his will in the form of a system

Lux ought to reach unparalleled power to fight against the desecrators.

Bash!

Grasping the man by his long ashen black hair, the youth plunged the man's aged face against the hard pavement.

Bash!

The white-haired young man continued this brutal act multiple times, slamming the man's head against the pavement with increasing intensity. With every impact, fresh blood painted a vivid red stain with each time of contact on the weathered, cracked surface.

Bash!

Bash!

Bash!

The youth's aggression and disdain became more prominent towards this individual with each attack.

A grin of ecstasy etched onto the youth's handsome features, his eyes though born of a crimson hue, were now filled with nothing but a maddend glint.

BASH!

Ramming the man's head into the steel wall for a final time, the youth released his ironclad grip from the aged man's hair allowing him to fall head-first onto the road's sharp curb.

With one last forceful thrust, the youth slammed the man's head against the steel wall, before then releasing his ironclad grip from the the aged man's hair, watching as he toppled head-first onto the jagged curb of the road.

"..." the youth viewed the spoils of his labor.

Laid sprawled on the ground, the aged man clutched desperately onto the last few strings of life with a persistence to live.

The human response, we only desire survival.

When born we are immediately bombarded with the doctrine of society, given a name in which we didn't choose.

As infants, we latch onto our mother's breast not for enjoyment, but out of sheer necessity. Without that nourishment, the gnawing sensation of hunger would soon take hold, and with our weak bodies, the flame of our lives would dim before death kicks in.

When we enter the education system in our formidable years we force ourselves to adapt to the societal norms of our peers, the person could hate their friend group yet they would stay a part of it continuing to speak about topics in which they find no pleasure in knowing. We do this not out of pleasure, but to cope with our callused society.

Those who break our illusion of pleasure are ridiculed and bashed at the knees.

As these paradigms splinter as maturity comes, our present selves whenever we like it or not, keep to the doctrine of survival

Survival,

This aged man was pathetically a mid-rank fellow.

How useless.

The job was supposed to be his last before he jotted out of this constant rat chase of a career,

Human trafficking was a lucrative but insanely profitable business.

For the past week, the aged man was tasked with following and stalking a family of five before inevitably kidnapping and harvesting the guardian's organs, while giving his superiors the children, so they could be put on action.

A five-day job and then he was done, right!

Fortunately, this was not so,

Raising his foot the youth brought it down with staggering force.

POP!

The man's head exploded into a fleshy paste.

A pool of crimson collected under the man's body

His centroid artery spewed out the liquid for several moments before a blood clot halted further bleeding.

"..."

Raising his hand above the lifeless body, the shadows enveloping the youth started to dance and swirl, bending to the youth's command.

Following his command the shadows collectively formed a collective of tangible bodies of different applications of symmetry surrounding the man's corpse.

"Devour," Lux spoke in an apathetic tone.

As Lux observed the system's citrine orange panel, abruptly a series of red notifications plastered onto the screen.

[!!!!!]

"What's this," Lux mused.

[Prompt Quest! - [Prevent Atheria's end!]

[System - altering user [Lux's] path]

[Do you wish to accept!?]

[Yes/No]

Furrowing his brows Lux gazed toward the Quest.

"Prevent the world's end…"

"System, tell me what this means?" Lux questioned

[Affirmative, as the quest says, the world will end soon by outer forces known as [Xenos], foreign entities which desire to use this world as a catalyst for their own prevalent power.]

[Hence the quest]

The system explained with a robotic voice.

"Is this why I've been granted the system, to help this world?"

Contemplating the decision further Lux's gaze tailed towards the stain of crimson splattered on the pavement

"..."

"Yes, I'll select the quest"

[Yes]

[Processing…. User new path [The star which holds fate], terminating [The despair of becoming the Strongest] ]

Turning his gaze towards the tapestry of the star-stricken sky, Lux mumbled.

"… My past goal is in vain.... but to think I would be allowed such a responsibility…" mumbled Lux in a deep shaky breath
