Acer's P.O.V.
I'm really on cloud nine right now. Seriously, Grandpa is so kind and insanely generous. It's like he gave me an advanced birthday gift.
Focal Utopia by Tournaire Limited Edition.
That's the headphone he gifted me because I'm officially a senior high school student. The price? It's worth millions. Only a few exist in the whole world. When my friends see this? They'll be in total awe — as always.
"Hi, Acer," greeted one of the girls who has a crush on me. I winked at her — and she almost fainted with excitement.
"Acer, buddy!" said one of my teammates from the basketball team, giving me a hug.
Wait... what's his name again? Whatever. It's not like I need to know, right?
"Bro, is that...." he pointed at the headphones.
"Yeah bro."
"Nice one! Anyway, see you, Acer buddy!"
"Take care, bro."
I was walking around like a boss — then bam! Some girl bumped into me. My headphones slipped from my hands and hit the rocks.
Son of a shark!
"Oh no! What have you done?!" I immediately shouted and quickly picked up my headphones.
Scratched. Some parts damaged.
"I'm really sorry—"
"Sorry? What good will your sorry do?" I snapped.
"Excuse me, is there something wrong?"
I turned around. Another girl had arrived. Slightly shorter than the one who bumped into me.
But hold up — what's with her hair?
"Eri," the girl who dropped my headphone whispered nervously.
She's pretty. I'll admit — even prettier than Sana, our campus queen. But whatever. My focus is on my headphones! Limited edition! Brand new! With gold and diamonds!
"Oh, so you two know each other? FYI, miss, your friend just threw my headphone onto a solid rock and damaged it!"
"Then we could fix it or buy—"
"That's the point, miss! Do you even know what this is?!"
"Focal Utopia by Tournaire Limited Edition," the other girl answered calmly.
She knows? But why doesn't she seem shocked? No reaction at all?
"So you should also know that this was produced in only 8 units worldwide. Each piece was handcrafted with 18-carat gold and 6.5 carats of diamonds, made exclusively for ultra-high-end collectors," I said proudly.
I was expecting her to look nervous or at least impressed. But nothing. Her face was blank. No emotion.
So annoying!
"And its initial launch price is around $120,000 USD," I added for good measure.
Still nothing. She looked like she didn't care at all. Like a robot with zero reaction.
"Sorry to hear about that. Then I shall have it repaired—"
"Repaired?! Are you serious? Do you even know where you'd get this fixed? What if you just make it worse?!" I cut her off angrily.
Is this girl even listening to the details I'm saying? Or is she just pretending everything's fine?!
"Yes, I'm sure of it," she replied, still completely serious.
Unbelievable.
"And why should I trust you with this? Like I said, it costs—"
"You can have my ID. Please wait for me before 4:30 PM and I'll return it to you as good as new."
Huh?! This girl's guts…
She handed me her ID. I read her name. What kind of surname is that?
"Where shall I meet you later?" she asked.
"At the Dean's office," I replied with a smirk.
"The Dean's office?" her pretty friend repeated.
"Yeah. I'll report this to the dean. So if you try anything funny, you know what'll happen."
I handed them the headphone.
What they don't know is — I'm the son of the school owner.
"Okay, thanks," she said and they left.
Let's see if you can really get that fixed. And if not… good luck.
Fasely's P.O.V.
I just want the ground to swallow me up because of how stupid I am. If only I hadn't gone there, none of this would've happened. Dad even cut my allowance so I'd finally go back home. Huhuhu.
"Eri, I can ask my dad about it—"
"No, it's alright," she cut me off.
"But it's my fault, not yours."
"It's okay. I know your dad cut your allowance so you'd go back home. And if you ask for a favor like this, that might just be the reason you'd really have to return. And I know you don't want that, right? I'm not stopping you from going home… but you really don't want to. And I trust that you know what's best for yourself," she said softly.
Eri is quiet, mysterious, but incredibly observant and kind. She just looks like she has zero energy when you talk to her, but she listens and catches every detail you say. She's super introverted and very selective with the people she spends time with. Honestly, it's a miracle she became friends with me, considering how loud and talkative I am.
"Thank you. But where are you going to have it repaired?" I asked curiously.
Even I was wondering how she'd fix that. She doesn't have that kind of money.
"Just leave it to me."
"But you don't have the money either—"
"Just trust me."
I really don't know what Eri's planning, but I'll trust her. I know she's a good person and wouldn't do anything bad.
We immediately headed to our classroom.
"Oh, the two of you are late," said one of our teachers, a man in his 40s.
"A pleasant morning, sir. Sorry we're late," I said. And just like that, everyone's eyes were on us.
