As soon as I returned to my chambers, the wight of the day crashed down on me. I shut the door close behind and moment it was completely closed I dropped every pretense and strength.
I flopped onto my bed and my arms sprawled over the soft blanket beneath me as I released a long, exhausted sigh. The ceiling stared blankly back at me, my mind was a whirlwind, no… a storm. One that refused to calm even for a second.
How could they doubt me? How could they, my own father and brother, say nothing to defend me? Well, should I still be shocked when my father killed me in every future vision I saw?
The silence of the room was broken only by the soft ticking of the clock and the faint rustle of the fabric as Theo stood by the window, unmoving.
He had been there since I got here, he usually would be standing by the side of my door, quiet as a shadow.
Then, finally, his voice broke through the heavy stillness.
"Your Highness," he said, his tone low and even. "I heard what happened."
