Kael's final blow knocked Varyn to his knees. The obsidian armor cracked. The flames around the tower dimmed.
Varyn coughed blood, smiling faintly. "You… have changed."
Kael lowered his blade. "This ends here."
The crystal cracked behind them. A pulse of wild energy surged out.
Eira threw up a barrier, but it wasn't enough. The tower shook.
"Run!" she shouted.
They sprinted down the spiraling path as the tower crumbled.
Flames erupted above and below. Ashenfang took the lead, clearing falling rubble.
They burst out just as the Tower of Embers collapsed into dust.
Only silence remained.
