city of ruin

I stand silent, peering at the scene before me. Long has my gut been used to the sight of gore and death, but yet in front of my eyes must be an affront to the gods for it to get such a reaction from me.

"Commander Muir, what shall we do? This land is far gone from what it was." My liutenant says at my side, viewing the same deviation as I. Her reaction only noticeable in her tone rather than her face as it was covered by a great helm.

I stay silent, and as stoic as much my will allows me to be. "Gather a 200 man scouting team, we will march through the city and rescue those in need and vanquish those who need to be as well." I command, donning my helm once again and walking back toward camp.

A city ablaze and half gone, burning at my back. "I pray that they're are survivors" I say to myself. "Gods have mercy"
