DAY 2: A New Friend

The next day, Ammy and Kiddy arrived at school earlier than usual. The classroom was still quiet, with only a few students trickling in. Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting long shadows across the desks.

Kiddy, always the early bird, was already seated, flipping through a textbook absentmindedly. He looked up as Ammy walked in, a bit surprised to see her so early.

"Morning, Kiddy!" Ammy greeted, her usual mix of humor and seriousness in her voice. "What are you doing here so early? Did your alarm go off by accident?"

Kiddy grinned, appreciating her teasing. "Nah, just wanted to get a head start on today. What about you? I didn't know you were into early mornings."

Ammy shrugged as she slid into the seat next to him. "Couldn't sleep. Figured I'd get some peace and quiet before the chaos starts."

They exchanged a knowing look. The classroom would soon be filled with the usual noise and energy of their classmates, but for now, it was just the two of them. It felt different, like a small pocket of time where they could just be themselves without the usual distractions.

"Well," Kiddy said, breaking the comfortable silence, "since we're both here early, want to go over that homework together? I was kind of stuck on one of the problems."

Ammy raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips. "Are you sure you want my help? I might just make things worse."

Kiddy laughed. "I'm willing to take the risk."

As they pulled out their notes and textbooks, the two friends settled into an easy rhythm, working through the problems together, sharing laughs, and occasionally drifting into light-hearted banter.

This early morning moment felt like a secret, a quiet connection between them that nobody else in the busy school day would see.

As the time went by the classroom started filling up with noise and energy.

As the class settled down, their teacher walked in, carrying a few papers and wearing a thoughtful expression. The students quickly took their seats, the usual morning chatter dying down.

"Good morning, everyone," the teacher began, scanning the room with a smile. "Before we start today's lesson, I have an announcement. We have a new student joining us today. Please welcome Mando."

The door creaked open, and Mando walked in, a bit awkwardly. He had an easygoing smile on his face, but it was clear he was a little nervous about being the center of attention. His steps were slightly unsteady, almost tripping over the edge of the doorframe, which drew a few chuckles from the class.

"Mando, would you like to introduce yourself?" the teacher asked.

Mando nodded, adjusting his backpack on his shoulder before speaking. "Uh, hi, everyone. I'm Mando. I just transferred here. I guess you could say I'm kind of clumsy, but I try to keep up with things. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you."

The teacher nodded approvingly. "Thank you, Mando. You can take a seat next to Kiddy over there."

Mando made his way to the empty seat beside Kiddy, managing to bump into a few desks on his way. Despite the small mishaps, his genuine smile and friendly demeanor made a good first impression. Kiddy gave him a nod as he sat down, while Ammy watched with interest, curious to see how Mando would fit into their class dynamic.

As the lesson began, Mando did his best to focus, though it was clear he was still getting used to the new environment. Despite his average performance in class, his positive personality was already beginning to shine through, hinting at the potential friendships and adventures that lay ahead.

During lunch, Kiddy noticed Mando sitting alone at a table, absentmindedly poking at his food. Despite being new, Mando seemed relaxed, occasionally glancing around the bustling cafeteria with a curious expression.

Kiddy grabbed his lunch and made his way over to Mando's table. "Hey, Mando," he greeted, sliding into the seat across from him. "How's your first day going?"

Mando looked up, surprised but pleased to see Kiddy. "Oh, hey, Kiddy. It's going alright, I guess. Just trying not to trip over my own feet too much," he joked, a grin spreading across his face.

Kiddy chuckled. "You did pretty well in class, considering it's your first day. By the way, you seem like a cool guy. Want to join my friends and me for lunch? We're over there." He gestured toward a table where Ammy and a few others were chatting.

Mando said. "Thanks, That'd be great!"

Kiddy led Mando to his usual table, where Ammy and the rest of their group were sitting. As they approached, Ammy raised an eyebrow, noticing the new addition.

"Hey, everyone," Kiddy said as they reached the table, "this is Mando, our new classmate. I thought he might want to join us."

Ammy nodded with a smile. "Welcome to the group, Mando. Hope you can keep up with our nonsense."

Mando laughed, feeling instantly at ease. "I'll do my best!"

The rest of the group quickly warmed up to Mando, finding his clumsy charm and easygoing nature amusing. As they chatted and shared stories, Mando fit right in, his nervousness fading away. By the end of lunch, it was clear that Mando had found a place in the group, and a new friendship was starting to take shape.

After school, Kiddy walked home, the events of the day replaying in his mind. He was excited to tell his mom about the new friend he'd made and how Mando had fit into the group so easily.

As he stepped through the front door, the familiar smell of dinner cooking greeted him. His mom was in the kitchen, humming softly as she prepared the evening meal.

"Hey, Mom!" Kiddy called out as he dropped his backpack by the door.

"Hey there, kiddo," his mom replied, glancing over her shoulder with a smile. "How was school today?"

Kiddy pulled up a chair at the kitchen table, eager to share. "It was good! We have a new student in our class—his name's Mando. He's a bit clumsy, but he's really nice. I talked to him during lunch and introduced him to my friends."

His mom paused in her cooking, turning to face him fully. "That's great, Kiddy! I'm glad you're making him feel welcome. It's not always easy being the new kid."

"Yeah," Kiddy agreed. "But I think he's going to fit in just fine. He was a little nervous at first, but by the end of lunch, we were all laughing together."

His mom's smile widened. "Sounds like you had a good day. I'm proud of you for reaching out to him."

As Kiddy continued to talk with his mom, his thoughts drifted back to his own first day at school. He remembered the nervous energy that buzzed through him as he walked into the classroom for the first time, unsure of what to expect.

"I actually remember my first day too," Kiddy said, a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "I was just as nervous as Mando, maybe even more. Everything felt so new and overwhelming."

His mom nodded, remembering how anxious he had been that morning. "I remember that day too. I was worried about you making friends."

Kiddy smiled, the memory vivid in his mind. "Yeah, but then I met Ammy. She was the first person to talk to me. I was sitting alone during lunch, kind of like Mando was today, and she just came over and started talking to me. I was so confused but felt relieved."

His mom smiled warmly. "Ammy sounds like she was a great friend from the start."

"She was," Kiddy agreed. "She made me feel like I belonged. We started hanging out after that, and before I knew it, we were best friends. I guess that's why I wanted to make sure Mando didn't feel alone. I know how much it helped me to have someone reach out."

His mom said. "That's a wonderful thing, Kiddy. You're paying forward the kindness that was shown to you. It's how good friendships begin."

Kiddy felt a deep sense of gratitude for Ammy and the bond they had shared since that very first day.it made him happy.
