Chapter 13 - 13: The Threshold of Power

In the heart of the city—nested between crystalline towers and bioluminescent groves—stood the Summoning Chamber.

Once a simple circle of light and stone, it now pulsed with silent power. Runes drifted across its surface like constellations caught in slow rotation. The air shimmered around it with the subtle crackle of something on the verge of transformation.

Adam stood before it, arms folded, watching the interface glow.

It was time.

[UPGRADE AVAILABLE: SUMMONING CHAMBER – TIER II ACCESS][UPGRADE COST: RESOURCES CONFIRMED][PROCEED WITH UPGRADE?]

He confirmed.

The change was instantaneous.

The runes flared white-hot, rising like a corona around the chamber. The outer ring lifted into the air, reforming with new segments of alloy and crystal interlaced with unknown material. Arcane stabilizers locked into place mid-air, and a soft hum filled the plaza.

Then silence.

[UPGRADE COMPLETE][NEW FUNCTIONALITY UNLOCKED: TIER II SUMMONING][REWARD GRANTED: UNCOMMON SUMMON TOKEN – TIER II]

The token materialized in his hand—faceted like a gemstone, filled with shifting starlight.

But this one felt different.

When he stepped onto the platform and slotted the token into the core, the system responded immediately:

[Summon Initiated – Tier II Uncommon Token Detected][Alignment Lock: Star Wars – Legends Continuum][Filtering… Matching Identity…][Override Condition: Canon Divergence Applied][Summon Confirmed: Mara Jade]

Adam's breath caught.

Light gathered around the platform. Not like the other summons—this wasn't energy forming a shape. It was a person stepping through from somewhere else. A life remade with history, will, and skill already etched into her bones.

The glow faded.

She stood with hands at her sides, her stance balanced and quiet—dangerous in its calm. Red-gold hair fell to her shoulders, and her green eyes swept the room like a predator taking stock of her territory. A lightsaber hung at her hip, its casing custom-forged.

She looked at Adam. Then at her own hand. Then back at him.

"I've been dead," she said calmly. "And this… isn't the galaxy I remember."

Adam stepped forward, heart racing. "You're… Mara Jade."

She smirked faintly. "And you're the one who pulled me into this mess."

"Not exactly how I'd describe it," Adam said.

She looked past him toward the city's skyline. Crystalline towers. Living trees. Magitech pylons in perfect harmony.

Her gaze softened just a little.

"This place doesn't feel like the Empire. Doesn't feel like the Rebellion either. It feels… new."

"Because it is," Adam said. "You're early. The galaxy hasn't caught up yet. But it will."

She nodded once. "Good. Gives us time to do it better this time."

Later that night, she met with Serin in the upper observatory—two figures born of war and mystery. They said little. Just exchanged knowing looks.

Adam watched them both from the control deck, a quiet smile on his face.

This wasn't just about building a city anymore.

It was about rewriting what came next.
