Chapter 10 - CODE 003

"Ah, damn..." Luka cursed when the laboratory door opened and he saw Noah sitting on the bed, the man still wearing a plain t-shirt with long sleep pants. His hair was still messy and his face still looked like he had just woken up. "YOU GUYS FIGHTING AGAIN? IT'S STILL EIGHT IN THE MORNING!" Luka babbled as he walked into the lab, he opened his locker and grabbed his white lab coat.

This wasn't his first time finding Noah in the lab in the morning wearing his pajamas with a pouty face. In the past month, the man had been doing this a lot. A LOT.

His hair was still half wet, the coffee on his table still emitting hot puffs.

"It's not my fault!! Kai started it!" Noah said with a frown, his eyebrows knitted together, he put his feet up on the bed and hugged it.

Luka took the hairdryer from his locker and put it on, the hum of the machine sounding so loud that Noah's voice didn't really register. Damn it, it was so early in the morning and he had to listen to the insignificant complaints between Noah and Kai. These two were like mortal enemies.

"Then what was your problem that you used teleportation to the lab?" Asked Luka, he was still drying his hair, asking only as a formality so that Noah would stop babbling and return home immediately.

"Gg!"

"What?"

"Gg!"

"What?"

BZZZZ….! CRACK! The sound of the hair dryer stopped as the machine split in two in Luka's hands can be heard. The man screamed loudly and threw the broken hair dryer to the floor, he closed his eyes while sighing loudly.

"THIS IS MY PERSONAL HAIR DRYER! YOU'RE USING YOUR POWER OUT OF PLACE! CAN'T YOU JUST WAIT UNTIL I'M DONE DRYING MY HAIR?! O LORD!" Luka scolded Noah who was still pouting on the bed after destroying Luka's hair dryer that he was using.

"I'll get you a new one!"

Luka threw away the hair dryer, well, he'd get a new one from Noah, the one he was using was so old and outdated. Lucky. Now he sat at his desk which faced not far from the bed.

"Tell me what happened this time, I'll listen." He said then.

Noah turned to him, still with his eyebrows knitted the man began to speak with a frown. "He won't make me an egg sandwich."

"Egg Sandwich?"

"He asked me what I wanted to eat for breakfast. Then I said, I want an egg sandwich." Said Noah, he said with a serious face facing Luka who was enjoying his hot coffee.

"So?"

"Then he said, 'I don't like eggs.' Then I told him that I didn't care. I want an egg sandwich for breakfast. He refused to make it for me, he said he didn't like eggs."

Luka's mouth is tightly closed, still trying to listen to what was the problem that made this matter so big that a thirty-year-old adult got angry by ran away using teleportation so early from his home to the laboratory.

"I told him, 'But, you eat brownies and cookies? They all use eggs' and he said, 'But I don't see the eggs. I don't like eggs.'"

If Luka could turn off the teleportation mode on Noah's system, Luka would choose to turn it off at certain hours. This bastard used teleportation arbitrarily because of the unlimited access that Esper's had as their privilege.

Luka looked at the hot coffee in his cup, "Should I just pour this on his face? He'll heal himself quickly, right?" Luka muttered.

"LUKA! YOU WANT TO MAKE ME HURT?!"

Luka blinked his eyes, he raised his head and looked at Noah who was still sitting on the bed. The man now looking at him with a look of disbelief that he had thought of that.

"Oh yeah, you can read other people's minds. I forgot. It's been so long since you did that." Luka smiled widely as if nothing had happened, he took another sip of the hot coffee in his cup.

"You and Kai are the same, both of you are always thinking to hurt me." Noah pouted again, now lying on the bed, his silvery hair flowing down.

"Maybe you should look in the mirror first, you and your personality always make others almost lose their minds." Luka mumbled again, I hope he doesn't hear this one.

"I hear that, bastard. You're not my bestfriend. You're insulting me inside your head." Noah sighed.

"Go back home, you just need to order an egg sandwich online, they will send it to you using teleportation. The delivery system at restaurants has gotten much more advanced these days."

Noah sat on the bed, from afar Luka could see how excited Noah was to hear that.

"Really? I can do that? Teach me!"

"Ask Kai, that guy understands electronics much better than I do."

Noah's shoulders dropped, he's pouted again.

Luka just shook his head. To others Noah looked very majestic, very dignified for rarely speaking and showing expression in public. In fact he was just a child trapped in an adult body, his childhood was not passed like other normal children, he was trapped in the laboratory for so long. Therefore, the laboratory was much more familiar to him than his own home.

"Are you sleeping here again?" Noah suddenly asked Luka, the man who was thinking about something else then looked at Noah.

"Yeah, I'm doing a lot of trials for the drug I'm developing."

"Cirrus will be very sad if you don't come home."

"Oh, Cirrus is currently in training."

"Training?" Noah asked with a frown.

Luka smiled widely, "Special cat training! I want him to be able to do funny tricks! You should see on social media, a lot of cats can do a lot of tricks! I want Cirrus to be able to do that too!" Luka's face lit up as he talk about his six-year-old cat Cirrus.

Cirrus is Luka's male Ragdoll cat, he was too spoiled and overweight so Luka had to put him on a diet. But the diet made Cirrus so averse to food that he was admitted to the vet and had to be hospitalized.

"You're expecting too much from Cirrus, you'll be disappointed like when you bought a leash to take him for a walk like you saw on social media, but he wouldn't walk and you ended up dragging him around like a wet rag!"

Luka sighed loudly at Noah's comment about Cirrus. The morning chatter went on for quite some time until the laboratory door opened and they stopped the inconsequential conversation as Ryan Ainsworth appeared behind the door.

"Mr. Ainsworth?" Luka immediately stood up when he saw the bearded man enter the laboratory.

Ryan was a little surprised to see Noah there in his old home clothes. He looked at the man from head to toe. Noah wasn't even wearing any footwear.

"Did you just wake up and teleport here, 003?" Ryan's question made Noah, who was still sitting on the bed, flinch. "Oh sorry, I mean, Noah."

"Ah, Noah has a test in the morning, so after he woke up I asked him to come here right away." Luka said, trying to shift Ryan's focus.

"I'm going home." Noah said without greeting or caring about the presence of Ryan, his superior.

"Noah, what about Kai Wood?" Ryan asked in his heavy, low voice, he cleared his throat while looking at Noah.

Noah who was now standing on the edge of the bed looked back at him, he sighed.

"I have complied with you and the guild president's wishes to have a guide, and it has been over a month since he became my personal guide. So, in my opinion, there is no problem between us." Noah said in an unfriendly tone.

Ryan nodded then smiled, "Alright, be careful on the back home. Don't use your unlimited access willy-nilly." He said in a tone that seemed friendly yet slightly sarcastic. "Oh, one more thing."

Noah who had just taken out his floating screen stopped his finger from pressing the teleportation button, he looked at Ryan Ainsworth who was now smiling broadly at him.

"don't fall in love with your personal guide again. See you, 003."

Noah disappeared from the scene almost immediately. Luka sighed and sat down in his chair, he reluctantly turned to Ryan who was now sitting in a chair near his desk. Bad morning, Luka never knew today his morning would be so unpleasant.

"So, what's happened? Or something happened?" He asked gruffly, open all the files he had been studying since last night. Ryan's coming at the lab was a bad sign and he didn't like it, meaning another job awaited that Luka had no idea what it was.

Ryan placed his elbows on the table, making his fingers meet each other and supporting his chin with both index fingers.

"003 is already much more cheerful than before, it's not like he has PTSD or anything. Is that the effect of the drug you developed?" He asked with interest.

Luka sighed, it had been so long since that name had been used. Yet both the guild president and Ryan continued to call Noah by it, "You only see him when he's fine." He replied.

Ryan shrugged his shoulders while rolling his eyes, "Good, I expect him to have PTSD for as long as possible. He'll have to cherish his trauma rather than live happily. I don't like seeing him talk so much and show his happiness."
