Distraught and desperate to return and save Seraphina, Ethan angrily demanded to be sent back. The God mocked him, stating he was too weak to have saved her and cruelly revealed her brutal death.
Fueled by immense rage, Ethan attacked the God, who easily subdued him. However, the God, intrigued by his anger, granted him the power to grow stronger with his rage and to gain the abilities of those he defeats. While the God explained this, Ethan's fury reached such a peak that he momentarily overpowered the God and attacked again.
In the ensuing destructive battle, Ethan suffered grievous injuries, but his anger-fueled power granted him rapid regeneration and immense strength. He nearly killed the God. Realizing the danger Ethan posed to his world, the dying God used his remaining power to seal him away and transport him to a distant, unknown world. The permanence of the seal is uncertain, but Ethan is now in a new place, far from the world he was initially summoned to save and still burdened by the loss of Seraphina and his volatile power.
