Chapter 8 - Twisted Plans

A week passed by in a flash and the situation of the class had worsened. The class, unlike the first day was missing almost twenty percent of it's population while most of those available hardly paid attention to the subject being taught.

'Oh my, consequences would be dire' thought Kaiser as he looked at the sloth of his classmates. Even he was almost forced to think it was that everyone's flaw was related to that SIN.

With an exasperated sigh, he refocused his gaze to the teaching, trying his best to act like he was engrossed.

After the period was lunch break and with absolutely nothing to do, he silently stood up to leave.

At least that was until...

"Wait! Kaiser" Isabella called with a wave.

Feeling the sensation, he turned to the side and registered the pink haired girl's presence.

"What is it?" Tilting his head with a blank expression, he questioned.

"Oh, I was wondering if you'd be able to join us for lunch?"

Kaiser blinked in surprise before answering as politely as he could "I'll pass, I have an appointment"

"Oh, I see. Well then bye" Isabella said with a big smile before leaving the class with her clique.

"It looks like you're better at lying" Hazel commented from her seat.

Kaiser had read her lips from the corner of his eyes and immediately turned to her with a sharp glare.

"Don't stare at me like that. Has nobody ever told you that your eyes are creepy?" She said in a tone of disgust and a condescending look.

Kaiser only stared at her in silence...

Then stared some more...

And some more...

Before blinking and walking away silently.

...

Kiera looked at Kaiser silently as he left the class with a frown on her face. The way the guy looked at people made them feel quite unnerved. It almost felt like their existence was being revealed layer by layer.

"Hey, Kiera, wanna spar?"

A light-hearted voice interrupted her train of thoughts as she shifted her focus to her silver haired friend.

"At this time Maya? You seriously need a medication" She whined.

"But I know you won't refuse" Maya countered with a smug grin.

"Ever"

They soon moved to the training facility and occupied a room at the cost of 10 points.

"Ready?"

"Anytime!"

Without delay, Maya lunged at Kiera sharply with a wooden sword in her hands. Kiera, prepared, took a boxing stance and...

Boom!

... clashed directly with the sword, a wild grin on her face.

"Ngh"

Maya groaned from the strain of the attack but skillfully side-stepped a jab to the side before slashing horizontally at Kiera's neck.

With extreme flexibility, Kiera bent backwards and launched a kick at her friend's side, dealing quite an unexpected blow.

Maya grunted and hastily distanced herself from her, her eyes narrowed in concentration.

"What a stunt!" She snarled, yet there wasn't an ounce of malice in her voice.

"Get used to it" Kiera grinned at her before they clashed again.

...

As Kaiser walked down the hallway, a few minutes to the end of lunch break, his attention was drawn to a sticker of a purple butterfly perfectly glued to the wall. His eyes rippled as not-so-good memories resurfaced.

Shaking his head to distract himself, he thought 'There are some defects I have to fix if I want that class as my chess'

After spending a week in the school, he had realized that it's system was vastly different from other Hunter Academies. Although on the surface it seems like they pampered them a lot, he realized that the school actually had a very strict and strangling system. The facade of enjoying 100,000 points per month was only for those whose class maintained their Class Points.

Also, a system of rankings that determined the strongest from the weakest. Currently Class A students filled the top 15 except for two or three from Class B, while the bottom rank was filled with Class C and Class D students obviously. That should have made it clear that there was a clear bias in the distribution of cadets.

Liam might have stumbled on this hint in a week but the damage done to the class points might have gotten worse.

'And I'm sure my classmates have really decayed ours to a substantial level'

Covering the lower half of his face with his palm, his eyes curved into crescents as he spotted someone in the distance.

'Oh, the plans I have for you. I hope you can endure'
