Chapter 5 - Nathan

"Good, good." Gray slipped the card back into his pocket. A satisfied smile formed on his face.

"Can we go to the toy store next, Brother? The big one?" Lily grabbed his hand. She was practically glowing with happiness.

It was her first time to get a lot of things, and it was also the first time that her brother paid without worrying about anything. She thought that she should take this as an opportunity before it stopped.

"Of course, Lily," Gray answered with a chuckle. "I told you that we'll go crazy today. So go and lead the way."

"Yay!" Lily jumped out in joy.

And so, their crazy spending began.

[Ding!]

They moved on to a shoe store next. Lily picked out two sparkly sneakers and one pair of pink boots that lit up when she stomped. Gray also got himself a decent pair of running shoes.

In the next store, they bought some clothes. Most of it was for Lily, since her clothes right now were either too big or too small.

And, after a few hours, they took a short break at a restaurant. It was a well-known restaurant that they had dreamt of getting inside in the past. And now, who would have thought that they could actually go inside of it already?

The restaurant was fancy. It was probably the fanciest place they had been to. When they stepped inside, the lights were soft and warm, the floor was shiny and gentle music played in the background.

Lily held Gray's hand tightly as a waitress led them to a table near the big windows.

"Right this way, Sir" The waitress uttered with a smile though on the inside, she was silently judging the two with the way they dressed,

Gray and Lily sat down on a comfortable couch. Lily pressed her face against the glass, looking at the people outside. She was amazed to be sitting in such a fancy place.

Gray, on the other hand, picked up the menu and scanned through it.

"Wow… this stuff is expensive," he said under his breath.

'This is such a scam. How come a plate of pasta costs 50 dollars? You can cook a whole meal with that cost!' He was dumbfounded at the prices.

But since they were already here, might as well experience it one time and dip after.

"What do you want to eat, Lily?" Gray turned to Lily who was giggling as she looked at the people.

"You can decide brother. Anything you buy is good." Lily answered innocently, her eyes were shining with interest.

"Alright, alright…" Gray sighed and looked at the menu once again.

The menu was written with words that he couldn't even pronounce.

'I didn't know being rich is this hard…' Gray sighed for another time.

Still, he didn't want to look dumb in front of Lily, or the waitress, who was standing nearby, pretending not to listen but clearly paying attention to them.

So, Gray cleared his throat and pointed at a few random items.

"We'll get this one… and this one with the creamy thing, and this one, and this cake." he said, handing over the menu.

"And for drinks?" the waitress asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh… strawberry milkshake for her," he said quickly. "And I'll just take water."

"Of course," she said with a polite nod, then walked away.

Gray let out a breath of relief. Lily looked at him, clearly excited.

"Did you order a cake too?"

"Of course," he grinned.

They waited for a few minutes, just enjoying the view and the warm feeling of the place. Lily was swinging her legs under the table, humming softly.

When the food arrived, her eyes went wide.

A big plate of creamy pasta, grilled steak with a shiny sauce on it, and a rich chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side filed their table.

"Whoa…" Lily said, her mouth was almost drooling.

The two started eating, and both of them were amazed at how good the food tasted. The pasta was creamy and cheesy, the steak was soft and juicy, and the cake was warm and gooey inside.

"This is so yummy!" Lily said with her mouth full.

Gray just smiled as he chewed.

However, just as they were halfway through the meal, a man appeared at the side of their table.

"Well, well… Gray Adams? Is That really you?"

Gray froze for a second when he heard his name being.

That voice…

He slowly looked up.

Standing beside their table was a tall guy in a neat coat. His hair was neatly styled, and he was wearing a silver watch that looked expensive. The guy was also smiling, but it wasn't that kind of smile from a friendly person.

"…Nathan," Gray muttered the guy's name.

Nathan was his old classmate. And the one person who made his school days a nightmare.

The guy was always teasing him, pushing him around, calling him names just because he was poor.
