Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Internal and External Troubles

Ryan was originally an ordinary office worker on Earth, enjoying the "blessing" of the 996 work schedule every day.

Having lost both parents at a young age, he was rather introverted and had few friends. His entertainment consisted of playing games and watching anime. If he weren't decent-looking, he would definitely be labeled a "dead fat" (otaku).

Among the many games and anime, his favorite was the Pokémon series.

Perhaps due to the lack of family and friendship in his real life, he had an extraordinary longing for the special bond between humans and Pokémon.

Maybe even the heavens sensed his love for Pokémon, because one day, after playing games and going to bed...

When he opened his eyes again, he saw a middle-aged man in armor, and a Beedrill by his side!

He panicked instantly. Before he could speak, a sharp pain shot through his head, and he fainted again.

In a state between dreaming and waking, he received the memories of this body, which belonged to Ryan.

When he woke up again, he finally understood that he had truly transmigrated to the world of Pokémon.

However, the time of his transmigration seemed a bit off. It wasn't the League era from the games or anime, but the kingdom era from who knows how many years ago.

The Pokémon world during this period was not peaceful. Wars between countries and between territories were frequent.

People's attitude towards Pokémon was still in the stage of fear and exploitation. They not only called them magical beasts but also used magical beast devices to forcibly control them to participate in wars.

Moreover, due to the continuous increase in the human population, in order to feed themselves, they had no choice but to occupy the original homes of Pokémon.

Therefore, the relationship between humans and Pokémon couldn't be described as being like fire and water, but it could be said to be tense, with some Pokémon even forming beast tides to attack human territories.

Ryan's father mysteriously disappeared a few days ago while resisting a beast tide. Although no body was found, the situation was likely dire.

A territory cannot be without a lord for a day, and Ryan, as the only heir to this barony, naturally inherited the territory.

However, whether it was the shock of his father's disappearance or the pressure of suddenly inheriting the territory that made him mentally unstable, he unfortunately fell into the water while inspecting the territory.

Although he was rescued by a passing Bounsweet who called for help, the original body died, and now the body contained a soul from Earth.

After receiving the memories of the original body, Ryan had been pretending to be still recovering for the past two days. In reality, he was familiarizing himself with this body and the memories in his mind to avoid revealing any flaws.

After all, although his father had disappeared, there were still many people around him who knew him well, especially Uncle White, who had watched him grow up. If he were to notice anything, who knew how he would deal with the current Ryan.

It wasn't until today that Ryan dared to come out of the house and truly come into contact with this magical Pokémon world.

Thinking of this, Ryan couldn't help but chuckle bitterly.

He sometimes wished to transmigrate to the Pokémon world and make friends with all sorts of cute Pokémon, but he wanted to go to the kind of world in the anime. How did he end up directly in the kingdom era?

Transmigrating to the kingdom era was one thing, at least he was the son of a baron.

But before he could even experience the wonderful life of having maids on his left and petting Eevee on his right, his father had disappeared while resisting a beast tide, the knights who followed him had all died in battle, and the territory had suffered considerable damage and urgently needed reconstruction.

Moreover, the surrounding lords were also eyeing his territory covetously. After all, the current territory was almost undefended. If they weren't also dealing with the aftermath of the beast tide, they might have already attacked.

"Internal and external troubles, ah. Why is it that everyone else's transmigration goes smoothly, while I'm constantly facing problems?"

Ryan sighed, and the movements of his hand stopped.

"Boun?" Bounsweet looked at Ryan with a puzzled expression, seemingly asking why he had stopped petting it.

"You're carefree, aren't you? But that's right, there's nothing to worry about. Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it. Besides, it's not like I don't have a cheat." Ryan looked at the circular pattern on the back of his left hand again.

From the first day his consciousness recovered, he had noticed the pattern on the back of his hand and knew it was his cheat. After some exploration, he had also grasped its specific usage.

His cheat was equivalent to a quest panel. As long as he completed the tasks given on it, he could obtain corresponding rewards and lottery chances, such as the good potion he had used for Scyther before.

And issuing tasks was just its most basic function. Its most important role was summoning "players" from Blue Star, which was the function Ryan valued the most.

In his previous life, Ryan was also a game enthusiast. He knew the power of the "Fourth Natural Disaster" all too well. As long as he could guide them properly, all these current problems could be solved easily.

"Fortunately, I'm summoning players from Blue Star. If I were summoning them from Earth, I might not be able to fool them," Ryan thought with some relief.

According to his understanding, Blue Star should be a parallel Earth. The technological level and historical process of the two were roughly the same, but there were also many differences. For example, Blue Star didn't have the Pokémon game.

Although Ryan liked Pokémon very much, he only watched the anime and played the game for the story. He had hardly ever touched competitive battling.

If he really summoned those "players" from Earth who were familiar with Pokémon, he probably wouldn't be able to guide them at all.

If things got out of control, the destructive power of the "Fourth Natural Disaster" was something a small lord like him couldn't bear.

But summoning "players" from Blue Star was different. They knew nothing and were easier for him to guide (or fool).

"Hopefully someone will log in tomorrow. Although I can connect to Blue Star's network through the quest panel, I don't know how to design a game pre-order interface. I can only put up a link on a game platform and see if I can get lucky."

Ryan looked at the number of pre-orders on the panel, feeling deeply helpless. For three whole days, there were only four pre-orders. He didn't even know if one person would log in tomorrow.

"They should probably give it a try, after all, the helmets were directly mailed to their homes. Oh well, I won't think about it anymore." Ryan picked up Bounsweet. "Let's go persuade Scyther. It can't go without eating."

"Boun! (﹃)" (I want to eat too!)

"Alright, alright, you won't be left out."

At the same time, Chen Yan was looking at the helmet in front of him with a bewildered expression.

Just now, after he clicked the pre-order link, there was a knock at the door. He opened it and saw no one there, only a package on the ground.

Inside the package was a streamlined helmet with the words "Pokémon World" printed on it.

"Are you kidding me? This can't really be a game helmet, right? Has technology advanced this much? And I just clicked the pre-order link; I haven't even filled in my address yet."

Chen Yan was a little scared, but he was also intensely curious about the helmet.

"Trying it on shouldn't hurt, right? I'll just touch it to my head, not put it on completely."

Chen Yan cautiously picked up the helmet and slowly put it on his head.

"There's nothing here. I knew it was a prank. Who would be so free... Holy crap!"

Suddenly, a line of text appeared before Chen Yan's eyes:

[There are still 22 hours, 32 minutes, and 15 seconds until the game's internal beta test begins]

"This game is for real?!"
