Sophia's eyes locked onto Emily's, her gaze piercing. "What are you talking about?" she asked, her voice low and even.
Emily hesitated, glancing nervously at Alex and Marco. "I...I don't think this is the right place to discuss it," she said.
Sophia's expression turned cold. "Tell me," she said, her voice firm.
Emily took a deep breath. "Okay," she said. "But please, Sophia, you have to promise me you won't tell Alex about this. He can't know."
Sophia's eyes narrowed. "Why not?" she asked.
Emily's voice dropped to a whisper. "Because Alex is in danger, Sophia. And if he finds out the truth, it could put him in even greater danger."
Sophia's expression was skeptical. "What truth?" she asked.
Emily glanced around nervously, as if she feared being overheard. "The truth about your family's past," she said. "About what really happened to your parents."
Sophia's eyes flashed with anger. "What do you know about my parents?" she asked.
Emily's voice was hesitant. "I...I know that they were involved in some pretty shady dealings," she said. "And I think their deaths were not what they seemed."
Sophia's expression turned cold. "What are you insinuating?" she asked.
Emily's voice dropped to a whisper. "I'm saying that your parents' deaths were not an accident, Sophia. They were murdered. And I think you're in danger too."
Sophia's eyes widened in shock. She felt like she had been punched in the gut. Murdered? Her parents? No, it couldn't be true.
She looked at Emily, her eyes searching for answers. "Why are you telling me this?" she asked.
Emily's expression was sincere. "Because I want to help you, Sophia," she said. "I want to help you uncover the truth about your family's past and keep you safe from those who want to harm you."
Sophia's eyes narrowed. She didn't know if she could trust Emily, but she had to admit that she was curious. What secrets had her family been keeping from her? And who was behind her parents' murders?
"Okay," Sophia said finally. "I'll listen to what you have to say. But you have to promise me one thing."
"What's that?" Emily asked.
Sophia's eyes locked onto Emily's. "You have to promise me that you'll keep this a secret from Alex," she said. "I don't want him to know anything about this."
Emily nodded. "I promise," she said. "I won't tell Alex anything."
Sophia's expression turned cold. "Good," she said. "Now, let's get out of here and talk somewhere private."
As they walked away from Alex and Marco, Sophia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What secrets had her family been keeping from her? And who was behind her parents' murders? She was determined to find out, no matter what it took.
Meanwhile, Alex and Marco exchanged a curious glance. What was going on with Sophia? And who was this mysterious girl who had just appeared out of nowhere?
"I don't like this," Marco said, his voice low. "Something's not right here."
Alex nodded. "I know what you mean," he said. "But we have to trust Sophia. She knows what she's doing."
Marco raised an eyebrow. "Do we?" he asked.
As they watched Sophia and Emily walk away, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What was Sophia getting herself into? And would he be able to protect her from harm?
The sun was setting over the city, casting a golden glow over the crowded streets. But Alex couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Something was lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike.
And he was determined to find out what it was.
