The next loop, I died when I was running away from the Avalugg, and ran face first into an Abomasnow. Just touching its fur flash froze my skin to its body, and then it exhaled a mist onto me that was so cold that it turned me into an icicle.
Then in the next, In my haste and panic to escape both deadly creatures, I accidentally kicked a Cubchoo, it's mother, really didn't like that, and I got eaten, piece meal.
The next was rather ironic, as I attempted to escape, I passed a Frostlass, but it thought I was about to attack it, so it burned me with Will-O-Wisp, and while I was rolling on the ground, slowly burning to death, the Ghost type took some amount of pity on me and doused me with an Icy wind, which didn't kill me instantly, but did get me close enough to death that the burn still applied to me did the rest…
So, atleast we got some spice to this winter 'wonderland'

As My eyes snap open for the fifth time, within that same crater, again.
My eye twitches as I climb out of my crater, heedless at this point, to the constant aches of my body.
I look around, my eyes glaze over when the monsters climb out of the snow piles as well.
I roll my eyes and just mutter "might as well" and decide to actually look myself over for once, instead of jumping to another death...
My coat is a pale, almost white, beige, like a scientist's coat, although it is rather thin, it's made of a material that holds back the cold like a dream.
Under that, I'm wearing… a short sleeved shirt with some kind of orb with magnets and a screw sticking out?, on top of that, I'm also wearing one of those work necklaces that identify you in some way.
It simply reads [K. Verrice - APR]
For pants, I'm wearing what might be black fluffy PJs with some kind of spiky yellow cat? Or something… either way, they are soaked from being in that hole for any amount of time.
It is as I am examining my feet, -mismatched socks with brown loafers with fur on the inside- the ground beneath me begins to rumble as that massive, angry iceberg emerges again…
I make sure to fall with the rest of the snow, namely, backwards, so as to not be seen as something to step on by this thing quite yet.
Consensus? I am not dressed for the weather.
Notes about consensus? The pockets of my pants are huge.
I say this, because I only just noticed, -being slightly underneath a mass of snow at this point- as my leg is getting pressed into the snow, and not getting instantly killed, that there is something inside it…
I hastily push the snow off my leg and pull the thing out, only to see a… half red, half white ball of some kind.
the beast infront of me roars with a bloodlust I'm still not used to, so I flinch, as I do, my hand slips over the white button in the middle of the sphere, and before my eyes, the thing decides that physical laws are optional and expands to fit my hand, this one action breaks me of my fear fueld paralysis, and I impulsively press the button again, just to see what would happen.
As I pressed it, the ball suddenly opened up, with a bright red light coming out of it.
The beam of red light coalesces onto my chest, though oddly, it doesn't hurt, it's just light…
That is, until reality is deemed inefficient and fired into the sun as the accumulated light on my chest condenses and shines bright, and once the light fades, all that is left on my chest, into a creature!
A weird looking, yellow and black mini alligator?? That is living? Breathing? How the-
Distracted from the further impossibility of what is in front of me, I feel a a buzzing in the other pocket of my soaked PJ pants, and something I hadn't noticed up until now since only the one leg had been buried deep enough for me to feel what's inside.
Either way, I pull the thing out.
And it's a. Strange looking veridian brick with some kind of joint at one side and some kind of blue spot at the other. On the back, in bold, Orangish yellow writing, are the words KAIZO and below that, smaller text simply reads DEX.
'Kinda looks like a heavily tricked out DSI with weird paneling…'
Understanding the fact that this thing probably opens to something, I open it, the inside is a collection of buttons, a small screen, a port for something? But as I am doing that, the screen flickers to life, and sound begins to play. The screen shows a green blur flying to the left of the screen and then a white light, transitioning to the name of the device.
KAIZO DEX. With a massive, cool as hell green Eastern dragon with orangeish yellow highlights coiling around the words.
I ignore the mini gator that is yapping to get my attention and is still on my chest as I stare in awe at the thing on the screen, it's only as I notice that there is now a shadow over me that I realize something is wrong…
It is as I look up, that I am met face to face with what I can only assume is a living snowball with anger issues….
Before I could even react, even begin to run like I knew I should've, the damn thing opens it's massive jaws wide and a stream of light begins to conglomerate in it's depths.
Not even beginning to want to know what that is, I stand up, minigator by my side, held in both hands like a football, and I begin a hasty retreat.
I don't even make it four steps before my entire upper torso is gone in a beam of energy so raw, that it instantly cauterizes the deadly wound.
My last moments of that life were my watching a little yellow and black gator pup helplessly whine as it nuzzles into my face, trying to help me get up? That's nice of it…
Sorry little buddy…
…run five ended.
- - - -
The thing that killed me in run five was a Glalie.
The mini crocodile, was a very unfortunate Sandile..
Having all of your very essential organs evicerated instantly has to be one of the worst pains imaginable, and It won't leave my 'top ten worst ways to die' list for a long, long number of runs after this point.…
I take note of this run, not for its speed, or the amount of time survived, but for the three, very crucial discoveries.
1- my pants are big enough to store plenty, but not nearly as much as you think you'll need.
2- at the beginning of each run, I have a pokeball, I will discover in run six, that the Pokémon that comes out of that ball is always a random completely unevolved Pokémon from what I now know as the Kalos region.
3- the one constant in all my runs, the KAIZO Dex, a digital archive of all the rules and regulations of this god forsaken hell, as well as a place for me to check the data of any Pokémon I catch.
I will also learn in run six that for reasons unknown -even to me as I am today- all the information catalogued in the Dex is maintained through the resets.
This, is just about the only saving grace of this challenge. And it is this knowledge transfer, that has kept me alive for just a bit longer, with just a bit more stability.
And it is one that I will and have used… unashamedly.
There are also a few fun little Easter eggs in the device, but I'll speak of those in later logs. Verrice, out.
