Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Choosing a Class

Eve's golden hair fell in long, silken waves down her back, glowing faintly in the light like threads spun from honey.

Her figure was slender, delicate even, yet there was an unmistakable weight to her presence, as though she floated not by magic but by will alone.

The white robe she wore shimmered with every breath of air, flowing around her like moonlight trapped in fabric. Though her bare feet never touched the ground, had she stood, her head would have barely reached Noah's shoulder.

[Can you not stare at me like you're trying to zoom in with your eyes? It's weird.]

Noah raised a brow, shifting his stance with a casual roll of his shoulders.

"Okay, one—I'm not a creep. Two—what exactly is this 'Endless Dungeon' thing supposed to be? Sounds like a mobile game that eats your soul."

[It's literally in the name, genius. You go down, floor by floor, fighting stuff that gets weirder the deeper you go. The goal? Reach the bottom without dying. Simple. Except it's not, because if you croak, that's it. No checkpoints. No do-overs. Just game over.]

Noah stared up at her, the gears in his brain grinding somewhere between panic and curiosity.

"So basically... Dark Souls, but with worse customer support."

[...Yes.]

Noah tilted his head slightly, a spark of curiosity flickering behind his eyes.

"I see. So what's in it for me if I beat this thing? Are we talking bragging rights or something shinier?"

[You will receive power beyond your imagination.]

His eyebrows arched. That line landed somewhere between promising and suspicious. He gave a low whistle, rocking on his heels.

"Cool, cool. Just one little thing... does the epic power-up come mid-dungeon, or is this one of those 'wait till the end and hope you don't die first' deals? 'Cause that kind of timing changes everything."

[Anyway, Noah. As a player, you may now choose your main class. Remember, you need to think about it very carefully, because that will be your permanent class throughout your journey—or, you know, right before a rat on the first floor gnaws your ankle and ends your tragic saga.]

Noah threw his hands up, eyes narrowed like a gamer who just realized the tutorial was lying to him the whole time.

"You totally swerved that! That's a dodge roll, not an answer! There's something shady going on with this whole 'Endless Dungeon' gig, I can feel it. This has trap card energy written all over it."

Before he could fire off another verbal grenade, the space before him shifted.

A screen unfurled in the air, glowing softly like an invitation and a warning all in one.

Rows of glowing text hovered, displaying his choices like a digital prophecy waiting to be claimed. Each class shimmered as if alive, pulsing with an unseen rhythm, beckoning him forward.

The list stared back, silent and absolute.

Noah scrolled through the endless list, eyes half-lidded in mock boredom, until something caught his gaze.

The names flickered past like cheap movie credits, none of them sticking—until that one did. It didn't flash. It didn't sparkle. It just felt right. Like the first time you hold a controller and it fits just right in your hands. That kind of click.

He leaned closer, smirking.

"Gunner Class. Obviously. If I'm gonna shoot things, I might as well do it with style."

The list reshuffled before him, now cleaner, tighter. Subclasses unfolded beneath the chosen path, each one more specific, more tailored, but also a little bit chaotic.

They weren't just branches of the same tree—they were each a whole vibe.

The screen shimmered before Noah's eyes, a rush of digital particles swirling like fireflies in a storm.

A soft chime echoed in his ears—clean, futuristic, like something out of a sci-fi movie.

The interface bloomed to life, crisp and glowing with hues of electric blue and sharp white. He lifted his hand with an unnecessary flourish, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"I'm going with Gunslinger. It's all about speed, power, and looking like a total legend while dropping monsters left and right."

The selection lock clicked into place with a smooth digital hum. A ripple of energy pulsed through the air, and then another screen blinked into existence, neatly arranged and glowing faintly as if breathing.

[Congrats on locking in your Main Class and Subclass. You've officially graduated from jobless status. This—]

The status board unfolded, crisp data slots filling out in real time.
