It started with stillness.
Not silence—stillness.
Like the world held its breath.
Yujiro Hanama sat on the rooftop of the orphanage, shirt off, his body steaming against the chill of night. He had been meditating. Breathing. Listening.
He felt it before he heard it.
A ripple in the air. A wrongness in the earth. The faintest hum vibrating through his bones like a growl beneath the ground.
Then came the sound.
A low hum became a scream.
A red light exploded in the distance.
Then a blast.
Then fire.
Down below, Miss Maru was screaming, rallying the children.
"Move! Everyone move! Downstairs! Now!"
Toma was dragging two younger kids by the hand. "Yujiro's still on the roof!"
"Forget me," Yujiro growled, leaping down the fire escape like a wildcat. "Get out. Now."
The building shook.
Windows shattered inward.
An explosion tore through the east wing.
Yujiro caught the falling beam and held it long enough for three kids to pass under.
Then came the voice.
Low. Calm. Too calm.
"Yujiro Hanama. I've found you."
He turned.
A man stepped from the smoke.
Tall. Slender. Dressed in matte black reinforced armor, his face hidden behind a smooth silver mask. Crimson circuitry pulsed across his limbs, glowing like veins of lava beneath skin.
The ground beneath him melted as he walked.
Name: Revenant
Quirk: Entropy Field – Allows the user to accelerate molecular breakdown in any material or organic matter within a 3-meter radius. Direct contact results in instant cellular decay. Known to destroy reinforced concrete and armor by simply walking through it.
Status: Escaped from Tartarus.
Objective: Eliminate Yujiro Hanama.
Yujiro took a step forward. "You caused this."
Revenant tilted his head. "Because you exist."
"Why?"
"You weren't supposed to be born here."
Yujiro's fists clenched. "You know what I am?"
"I know what you will be. And my employer wishes to change that future."
"Then he should've sent someone stronger."
Revenant raised his hand. The air screeched.
Metal vaporized. The grass beneath Yujiro's feet curled and died.
Yujiro moved.
The first blow didn't land.
Yujiro feinted, rolled, kicked off the wall, and slammed a flying knee into Revenant's mask.
It cracked. Just slightly.
Revenant countered, backhanding him across the face.
Pain exploded behind Yujiro's eyes.
But he didn't scream.
He grinned.
"You bleed."
Revenant didn't reply. He stepped forward, and the air burned.
Yujiro leapt back.
Wood disintegrated behind him. Stone turned to dust.
The fight was a blur of flame, ash, and blood.
Revenant moved like death incarnate—unstoppable, eroding everything he touched.
Yujiro danced between doom, parrying strikes that never touched, but left death in their wake.
A single mistake would end him.
But he kept going.
Amid the smoke, a child screamed.
Yujiro turned.
Toma.
He had come back. Was dragging a child out of the wreckage.
"No—TOMA, RUN!"
Revenant turned his head slowly.
The air shimmered.
Yujiro sprinted, legs tearing at the ground.
Too slow.
Revenant raised his hand.
A pulse of pure entropy swept through the space.
Toma turned just in time.
And smiled.
He shoved the child behind him.
Yujiro saw it. The moment.
Toma's skin turned grey.
His scream never came.
He collapsed.
Gone.
Yujiro reached him a second too late.
He dropped to his knees.
Cradled what was left.
Not much.
Ash.
A silence fell.
Yujiro looked up slowly.
His breath stopped.
His pulse stopped.
But his heart ignited.
His scream tore through the air like thunder.
Not pain.
Not grief.
Something older.
A declaration.
A promise.
He charged.
Revenant blocked.
But Yujiro wasn't the same.
Something had snapped.
His punches came faster. Deeper. Wilder.
He shattered part of Revenant's armor. Cracked the mask. Dislocated his own shoulder but kept punching.
By the time All Might arrived, Yujiro was a creature of wrath.
Fighting. Bleeding. Screaming.
All Might struck Revenant down, ending the fight.
But Yujiro didn't stop.
He collapsed beside Toma's ashes.
His hands clenched.
His throat dry.
His heart… quiet.
"I wasn't strong enough," he whispered.
Miss Maru tried to touch his shoulder.
He jerked away.
"I'll never let that happen again."
And as the ash blew away in the wind…
Yujiro Hanama stood.
And didn't look back.
