Chapter 5 - chapter 4 the price of secrets

The air was thick with tension. Even the silence between them felt like it had a weight, pressing down on everyone in the room. The boy stood there, watching Daddy, his eyes filled with a strange mixture of curiosity and satisfaction. He could see how Daddy's hands trembled slightly, how his eyes flicked nervously toward the man who had come back from the shadows.

Daddy's mask was slipping.

And the boy was loving every second of it.

The man, the stranger who had suddenly appeared, was still standing near the door, his presence imposing. His gaze was locked onto Daddy, his lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. He wasn't going to let Daddy forget the past—he was going to drag it back into the light, one painful moment at a time.

"You thought you could outrun me, Robert," the man said, his voice low and taunting. "You thought you could escape. But nothing escapes me."

Daddy's eyes flickered with something dark, a flash of fear quickly masked by his usual cold demeanor. "What do you want, Michael?" His voice came out hoarse, the name sounding foreign on his tongue as though saying it brought back unwanted memories.

The boy was watching closely now. Every word, every movement, was a game to him. He could feel the shift in power, the way the balance tipped in favor of the stranger. But it wasn't over yet. Daddy still had some fight left in him.

Michael, the man who had appeared from the depths of Daddy's past, took a step closer. "I want what's mine, Robert. And you know exactly what I mean."

Daddy's face twisted, his jaw tightening as he fought to keep his composure. "You don't own anything anymore."

Michael chuckled, a sound that sent a chill down the boy's spine. "I don't need to own anything, Robert. Not when I can take it."

The boy's lips curled into a smile. He knew what was coming next. This was the moment where Daddy's control would slip completely. This was the moment he had been waiting for.

"What do you think you're doing?" Daddy asked, his voice sharp, but there was an undercurrent of fear in it now. "You think you can just waltz back into my life and demand things from me? You have no idea what you're dealing with."

Michael's eyes darkened, and the boy could see the tension building between them. The air in the room seemed to crackle with danger, with something volatile, something about to erupt.

"You never learn, do you?" Michael said softly, his voice dripping with contempt. "You think I'm here for a simple reunion? No. I'm here to collect what you owe me."

Daddy's face went pale, and the boy saw his hands shake for the first time that night. The man who had always exuded power, the man who had seemed untouchable, was starting to unravel.

The boy stepped forward, his boots clicking on the floor with a slow, deliberate rhythm. He was enjoying this, enjoying every second of watching Daddy's walls crumble. But there was something else, too—a strange feeling gnawing at him. The deeper he got into this game, the more he realized just how much Daddy had been hiding. And what would happen when those secrets finally came to light?

"Is this really necessary?" the boy asked, his voice cutting through the tension. "I mean, Daddy's not exactly the man you remember, is he?"

Daddy's eyes shot to him, a flicker of panic crossing his face, but he quickly masked it with a glare. "Don't get involved in this."

But the boy couldn't help himself. He was already too deep, and he wasn't going to back out now. "I think it's too late for that," he said softly. "The truth is already out there. All of it. And Michael knows it."

Michael's gaze shifted to the boy, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You've been too curious, kid," he said, his tone warning. "You don't know what you're playing with."

The boy grinned. "I know exactly what I'm playing with."

The tension in the room was almost unbearable now. Daddy was trapped in his past, and the boy was in the middle of it all, watching the pieces fall into place. There was no way out for anyone—not now, not with the truth hanging in the air like a storm waiting to break.

"Enough games, Robert," Michael said, his voice low and threatening. "It's time to pay your debts."

Daddy's expression twisted with anger. "I don't owe you anything."

But Michael just laughed, a cruel sound that echoed through the room. "You owe me more than you'll ever be able to repay."

The boy could see it now. The truth was spilling out, bit by bit, like a slow, painful unraveling. Michael wasn't just here to taunt Daddy. He was here for something far darker, something more destructive. And the boy was ready to watch it all play out.

"I think it's time for you to remember, Robert," Michael said, stepping closer. "I think it's time for you to face the truth."

Daddy's hands balled into fists, his face reddening with the effort to hold back his anger. "I don't need to hear your lies anymore," he spat, his voice trembling with fury.

But Michael was done with words. He reached out, grabbing Daddy by the collar and pulling him close, their faces inches apart. The boy stepped back, watching with cold amusement as Michael tightened his grip.

Daddy's breath hitched, and for the first time, he looked vulnerable—like a man who had been cornered by his own past. The boy could see the cracks in the façade now. The once unshakable man was crumbling under the weight of his secrets.

"Remember who you're dealing with," Michael whispered, his breath hot against Daddy's face. "You can't run from me anymore. You can't hide from what you did."

The boy felt the heat of the moment, the way the power shifted in the room, the way Daddy's defenses were breaking down. He had been right all along—the past had a way of coming back, and now, Daddy was paying the price for the things he had tried so hard to forget.

And as the tension reached its peak, the boy realized something. This game wasn't just about Daddy. It was about control, about power, about making people face the consequences of their actions. And he wasn't finished yet.

He smiled, his eyes glinting with something dark. This was only the beginning.
