Year XCIII: Day 365
A day that marked the end of a promising dynasty — the fall of House Prospertus.
Its final bearer, King Xavier Prospertus, ruled longer than any before him. Crowned after the passing of his father, he extended our kingdom's reach beyond the mainland, across waters once thought impassable. Two great islands bear his mark, freed from the corruption of the Greed — the name we have given to the twisted force that haunts our world.
In a reign that spanned 93 years, Xavier led five victorious campaigns, each with little to no loss of life. Under his command, our borders were fortified, our roads paved in stone, and our builders gifted with the marvels of new technology. Fifty scavengers—once lost to the wilds—found homes and purpose under his rule. It was through his hands that the fabled Rune Stones were uncovered, and the Temple of Scythe and Prosperity awakened.
These stones, sacred and ancient, ended the famine that plagued our people and nourished the rise of a farming class that now sustains our soldiers. Xavier is, to this day, the only ruler to destroy the Greed's vile portals and the first to sail beyond the known seas. He commissioned the first lighthouse, and tamed two great beasts of legend: the FatherHorn Dead, and the Sphinx.
Renowned for unmatched cunning and passion, Xavier outwitted the Greed countless times. But even greatness bows to fate.
In pursuit of a third island—and in search of more Rune Stones—he sailed under the blood-red moon. But the Greed had learned, and they lay in wait. Ambushed, with no hope of escape, Xavier Prospertus fell. And with him, so too fell his crown.
But the crown, ever seeking, ever choosing, did not rest long. It found me.
I am Child Oxford, of House Oxford—the kingdom's scholars. And now, I wear the crown.
Though I cannot promise glory equal to that of King Xavier, I shall strive to honor his legacy. I will lead, I will protect, and I will remember. May his head rest upon the right hand of the great throne, that his duty never be forgotten across the heavens.
Rest in peace, Sir Xavier Prospertus.
