Chapter 4 - Veilwalkers

Episode 4: Veilwalkers

INT. CLASSROOM – DAY

Kael's head jerks up as he wakes from a nightmare during Mr. Hayne's lecture. Sweat clings to his neck. His notebook page is filled with strange symbols—he doesn't remember writing them.

Lana sits nearby, watching him with concern.

LANA

(softly)

Nightmares again?

KAEL

Not nightmares. Visions.

MR. HAYNE

Mr. Reign, since you're so in tune with other dimensions, perhaps you'd like to explain the Veil's origin?

Kael opens his mouth—he doesn't know—but suddenly the symbols on his page glow faintly.

KAEL

It was created to bind the Woken. By the First Circle.

The class goes silent.

Mr. Hayne stares.

MR. HAYNE

That is... correct.

Kael glances down. The symbols vanish. Lana is visibly shaken.

INT. HALLWAY – BETWEEN CLASSES

Lana corners Kael.

LANA

Okay. That was freaky even for Shadowbound standards.

KAEL

It's like... I'm remembering things I never knew. From before.

LANA

Before what?

KAEL

Before me.

---

INT. BASEMENT TRAINING ROOM – NIGHT

Grayson spars with Kael. Their movements are fast, brutal, magical. Rhea watches from the corner, arms folded.

GRAYSON

You can't just unleash your power. You have to direct it. Make it obey.

Kael throws a blast of dark energy—it rebounds and nearly hits Rhea.

RHEA

Maybe we should try another method.

Grayson smirks.

GRAYSON

Jealous I'm getting through to him?

RHEA

Jealous you're too reckless.

Kael holds up a hand.

KAEL

Guys. Focus. What's a Veilwalker?

Rhea and Grayson exchange a tense glance.

RHEA

You don't want to meet one.

---

EXT. DARK FOREST – NIGHT

Kael and Lana investigate the site of Jamie's death. They find charred sigils and scorched earth. Lana holds a glowing crystal.

LANA

This place is still bleeding magic.

Suddenly, shadows stretch unnaturally. A tall figure with glowing eyes emerges.

VEILWALKER

Key-bearer.

Kael's mark ignites. The Veilwalker lunges—Kael instinctively raises his arm. A dark shield bursts out.

They clash in a burst of energy. The Veilwalker vanishes in a hiss.

LANA

You okay?

Kael drops to his knees, panting.

KAEL

That thing... was hunting me.

---

INT. KAEL'S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Rhea sneaks in through the window. Her eyes glow faintly. Kael looks up.

KAEL

You're not just here for me, are you?

RHEA

The Veil is thinning faster than we thought. We have to act soon.

She kisses him. Kael kisses back—but there's hesitation.

Outside, Lana watches from the street below, holding a book titled: "The Shadow Key Prophecy."
