Episode 18: "The Unleashing"
---
EXT. COURTYARD – NIGHT
Kael stands in the middle of the courtyard, panting heavily, the battlefield lit by flickering flames and shimmers of magic. His arms tremble, veins glowing a fierce blue beneath his skin. The mark on his chest pulses violently—one beat, then another, faster.
KAEL (gritting his teeth)
Something's… wrong. I can't—control it...
LANA (rushing to his side)
Kael? What is it?
Suddenly, the ground beneath him cracks.
Kael lets out a howl, not like any other. It echoes across the battlefield, shaking windows and rattling bones.
RHEA (stepping back, eyes wide)
His power... it's exploding!
TUNDE (bracing himself)
Get back! Everyone, move!
A brilliant pulse of blue and silver energy explodes from Kael's body—first a flash, then a shockwave that rips through the courtyard like a hurricane.
BOOOOOM!
Students are flung into walls. Lana's spell shield shatters as the energy tears across her. Rhea tumbles backward, blood trailing from a cut on her forehead. Tunde, though strong, crashes into a stone column, leaving a crater where his body struck.
LANA (struggling to her feet, coughing)
Kael… stop… please…
Kael's body lifts a few inches off the ground, his eyes glowing pure white. Lightning spirals around him like sentient fire, swirling, snapping.
Then... silence.
---
INT. KAEL'S MIND – SPIRITUAL REALM
Kael floats in a dark void. A massive presence looms before him—the Great Wolf Spirit, its fur like starlight, eyes like galaxies.
GREAT WOLF
The bite gave you the strength of the beast. The mark granted you the path of the chosen. But the full power... comes at a price.
KAEL
I didn't mean to hurt them.
GREAT WOLF
You must learn control... or lose everything.
KAEL
Then show me.
---
EXT. COURTYARD – MOMENTS LATER
Kael's body descends slowly, landing softly. His form is different now—leaner but more dangerous. His hair flutters with static, his fangs longer, claws sharper. His eyes glow both gold and silver, and a faint sigil of ancient runes circles his heart, carved by light.
LANA (weakly)
He... he looks like a god.
Kael steps forward—and vanishes.
He reappears instantly beside a shadow ogre, claws piercing its chest before it can even react. The ogre explodes into smoke.
Kael turns—and teleports again.
He's everywhere and nowhere—ripping, slashing, striking. With each move, the chosen mark on his chest pulses brighter.
Then—he stops.
In the middle of the battlefield, surrounded by dozens of enemies.
Kael breathes in.
KAEL (quietly)
"Awaken."
The runes ignite.
A second explosion of power erupts—blindingly bright, even fiercer than before. Trees splinter. Statues crumble. Every Wraithborne within fifty feet disintegrates instantly.
INT. INFIRMARY – MOMENTS LATER
Lana, Rhea, and Tunde lie on cots, bruised and bloodied. Magical nurses float around, casting healing charms. Lana sits up suddenly.
LANA
Kael?
RHEA (winces)
He... he lost it.
TUNDE (groans)
He nearly turned us into toast. Magic toast.
LANA (clutching her arm)
But that power... it wasn't evil. It was... raw. Too raw.
The door creaks open. Kael stands there, torn clothes, guilt written all over him.
KAEL
I'm sorry.
RHEA (crossing arms)
You should be.
TUNDE (half-smiling)
At least warn us next time you decide to go nuclear.
Kael walks to Lana's bedside, kneels.
KAEL
I didn't know it would be like that. I saw... everything. Past. Future. Us.
LANA (softly)
What do you mean "us"?
Kael looks into her eyes, then turns away.
KAEL
I need to find a way to control this. Before I hurt someone worse.
---
INT. HEADMASTER'S TOWER – LATER THAT NIGHT
Headmaster Greaves stares at an old scroll glowing with Kael's sigil.
HEADMASTER GREAVES
The true alpha has awakened.
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE IN SHADOWS
And the prophecy is set in motion.
---
INT. DORM ROOFTOP – NIGHT
Kael stands alone, wind in his hair, watching the full moon rise. He flexes his hands. Sparks dance across his skin.
Suddenly, soft footsteps approach.
LANA (behind him)
You okay?
KAEL
Define "okay."
LANA
Tunde's already planning to call you "Lightning Puppy."
Kael laughs—just a little.
LANA (smiling)
You scared us. But... I think I saw the real you in there.
KAEL (softly)
I don't even know who the real me is anymore.
LANA
Then let's find out together.
They sit side by side on the roof, moonlight casting soft shadows.
Behind them, the portal in the forest pulses again... but this time with red lightning.
