Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The System Does Not Forget Tears

> "Recorded Event: The Night No One Heard Sera Veyl."

Status: CONSOLIDATED TRAUMA. Rewriting not authorized without equivalent cost.

The letters appeared on the tome's page as if carved with fire.

"What does that mean?" I asked, feeling the air grow heavier.

Sera took a step back. Her face had lost all color.

"Ryouhei… you can't change that night without facing it."

The library began to groan, as if in pain.

The books trembled on their shelves.

The living tome opened a new page.

> "Emotional replication of original event required to validate rewrite."

> "Criterion: Equivalent pain or irrefutable confession."

> "Involved parties: Sera Veyl / Observer: Extra #9,387."

I was the observer.

But now, to change it, I had to feel it with her.

Sera closed her eyes.

"Do you know which night this is?" she whispered.

"No… but I'm about to find out, aren't I?"

She nodded. Slowly.

The tome projected an image in midair.

A little girl, alone, praying in a ruined temple.

Her voice was pure. Painful. Desperate.

And the shadows that answered were anything but divine.

The entire room became a sensory projection.

The heat. The fear. The betrayal.

I lived it all as if I were her.

I didn't just see it — I felt it.

Sera screamed, prayer after prayer.

But what descended were tentacles, laughter, and a minor god who demanded her faith… in exchange for nothing.

I came back gasping, eyes damp.

Sera didn't cry. She just looked at me.

"Now you understand why I never wanted anyone to know."

I took her hand.

"Now I understand why it has to change."

The tome began to glow.

> Criterion fulfilled: Equivalent pain validated.

Event rewrite in progress…

Flames engulfed the floating image.

And slowly, a new story began to write itself.

One where Sera wasn't alone.
