According to the Galactic Calendar, Year 8XXX.
Three days after Major General Vũ Gia Hoàng sacrificed himself in a battle beyond the star sector, Vũ Family Fortress No.7 remained shrouded in mourning. Internal communication networks were tightly locked down, and every citizen in the region bowed their heads in grief for the young war god who, singlehandedly activating a divine-level nano suit, had halted three enemy warships before detonating his energy core to protect the frontline planet. At least, that was the story the high command crafted to calm the public — as for the truth, only those involved would truly know.
In a high-grade birthing chamber, Trần Mai Lan — the Major General's wife — lay on a sterile bed, her frail body surrounded by medical robots. Her lifeless eyes stared up at the metallic ceiling, where dim lights reflected a face void of vitality.
In her womb was the unborn child of Vũ Gia Hoàng.
"Madam, both your life and the baby's are weakening. You must stay strong," — came the voice of Uncle Đỗ, the long-time steward of the Vũ family, through a personal communicator. Even through the energy wall separating them, his worry was palpable. He knew this child was the last hope of reviving the Vũ family.
Behind him, Madam Đỗ stood silently, holding a signal-jamming cage. Her eyes were red from crying.
"Miss… the Major General is gone… this child is his final hope, the last pride of the Vũ family."
Mai Lan did not respond. Once an elite A-Class mech pilot who had soared across the galaxy — now, she was but a fragile mother and a devastated widow.
But when her hand unconsciously touched her belly… a soft kick — vivid and real — made her jolt.
"Gia Hoàng…" she whispered, voice trembling. "Our child… is still here."
As if in response, her body began to stir. The automatic nano-med system activated, inducing labor. But just as the process began, a Level-3 alert blared through the Vũ family compound.
A squad of unknown soldiers had infiltrated through the western energy corridor. They were sent by a high-ranking political faction — seeking to eliminate the Vũ bloodline and seize control of the Northern Command Sector.
A silent invasion. A bloody conspiracy.
"Birthing chamber located! They're trying to hack the bio-shield system!" — the AI assistant's voice echoed in Uncle Đỗ's ears.
Yet he remained composed. "Madam Đỗ, send an emergency signal to the central defense squad. I'll hold them off." Though he couldn't help but wonder how the AI system responded so swiftly — given that most of the Federation's AI systems had been degraded or destroyed by past disasters. He dismissed the thought as a stroke of luck.
Suddenly, in the eerie silence, a childlike, creepy yet oddly cute laugh echoed out:
"Hehe, I'm so good at this! When I meet my host, we'll travel this world together! So exciting!"
Vũ Hữu Duyên froze. The image of her mother resurfaced—hazy, yet filled with emotion. That determined gaze, the blood-covered figure still shielding her, even though she had only been conscious for a moment before drifting off again. That image tightened her chest. Thinking back made her heart tremble; her lips pressed tightly together. In that moment, she was no longer just a wandering soul.
She was Vũ Hữu Duyên.
Daughter of Mai Lan.
A girl who would live on and protect those who love her.
She didn't want to miss out like in her past life.
Remembering the moment before she died—when the mother she thought had abandoned her came and held her tightly, whispering words of affection—she finally understood she wasn't an unwanted child. They just hadn't dared to love her.
But now, with Chip and her Life Nourishing Technique, she believed she could have a normal life. And she would become powerful.
Her gaze now burned with determination and resolve. Hữu Duyên had found her reason to grow strong—and she had no idea that this decision would one day make her, along with her adopted demon brother, the nightmare of the Federation's elites.
Dead Planet, Star Calendar Year 8XXX
The Dead Planet—a name given to a quarantined space zone, once the burial ground of thousands of soldiers, where no one had ever returned.
Three days after falling into this place, Vũ Gia Hoàng, the young major general of the Vũ family, finally opened his eyes. Thanks to the Wàng Mìng Elixir, he had survived a fatal wound.
No food, no water, no breathing with conventional oxygen—yet he endured, sustained only by the S+ grade Nano Life Support Circuit embedded within his body.
Still far from recovered, during one of his searches for signs of life, he came across a child curled up in a dark alley.
A boy—though his delicate face, pale skin, and thin frame made it seem as if he barely clung to life.
The child lay there, abandoned among garbage and ruins.
Vũ Gia Hoàng frowned and placed a hand at the back of the child's neck—the activation point of the nano life circuit. Immediately, he detected a faint trace of living energy.
> "Still alive…"
He pulled out a quick scan device: the data displayed—Gender: undetermined. Biological structure: intersex. Status: expelled from care system.
His gaze darkened.
> "Abandoned… just because of an intersex body?"
Despite its advanced civilization, the interstellar world still had shadows. For children who were "different," especially on the Dead Planet—where no trace of morality remained—discrimination was brutal.
He said nothing further, only withdrew a dose of auxiliary Wàng Mìng Elixir—Liú Guāng Solution, a type of serum that restored energy microcircuits within the body.
After injecting it through the nano point, he picked the child up. His eyes were icy cold, yet something stirred beneath that frost.
Not because he was kindhearted—but simply because this was the first human he had encountered since arriving on the Dead Planet. And as a soldier sworn to protect others, it was his duty to safeguard all citizens of the Federation, regardless of gender, age, or class.
But above all… this child reminded him of the one growing in Hữu Duyên's womb—still unknown whether boy or girl.
He couldn't help but wonder:
What will Mai Lan do when she hears about what happened to me?
Are they safe?
