Chapter 4 - 4. An omegaverse lesson

THE NEXT DAY

XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:

The classroom buzzed with quiet chatter as we settled in for the day's lesson. I could hear bits of conversation from the students around me, most of them talking about the upcoming contest or their training. Teacher Laura. She had a commanding presence, sharp eyes that missed nothing, and a voice that made it clear she knew exactly what she was talking about. She was here to teach us about the Omegaverse, and I was more than ready to listen.

"Alright, class." She began, cutting through the noise. "Today, we'll be talking about something most of you likely don't hear much about in your typical lessons, the anomalies in the Omegaverse."

The room quieted instantly, every student's attention on her. I sat back in my chair, my gaze lingering on her, curious about what exactly she meant by 'anomalies.' There were murmurs of excitement, students shifting in their seats, eager to know more.

"Now." She continued, a glint of something almost mischievous in her eyes. "We all know the basics. Alphas dominate, Omegas submit. But what about the exceptions? The cases where the rules are... bent?"

I raised an eyebrow, glancing around. The class seemed to be hanging on her every word, but I found myself a little more intrigued than I should be.

"Take Lycan Omegas." She said, leaning forward slightly. "You've heard of Lycan Alphas. I'm sure, dominant, rare, powerful. But did you know that there are Lycan Omegas as well? They're extremely rare, but when they do exist, they're able to challenge the dominance of even the strongest Alphas."

"These Lycan Omegas are a unique phenomenon. They have a connection to the Alpha gene, which gives them the ability to overpower even the most dominant Alphas when pushed to their limits. But it's rare. Most Omegas wouldn't dream of challenging an Alpha like that."Laura said.

I couldn't help but shift uncomfortably in my seat. The idea of an Omega, especially a Lycan Omega defying an Alpha was unsettling. The power dynamic had always seemed so set in stone to me. But what she said made sense, in a way. One of the students raised their hand, their voice full of disbelief.

"Wait, so you're saying an Omega could fight and beat an Alpha?"He asked.

Teacher Laura smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Yes, in very rare cases. It's a complicated balance of power, and more often than not, the Omega will yield before it comes to that point."She sad.

My mind was racing. I couldn't help but think of Villiam again. Something about him didn't fit into the usual mold. Was he one of these rare Lycan Omegas? I opened my mouth, unable to stop myself.

"But... if a Lycan Omega can challenge an Alpha, who decides who's on top? Is it just a matter of physical strength, or is there more to it?"I asked.

Teacher Laura raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by the question.

"That's a good question, Xavier. It's not just about physical strength. The dynamic is often mental as well. It's about who's willing to accept dominance in the end. A Lycan Omega might be able to overpower an Alpha physically, but if the Alpha refuses to yield, the conflict could continue indefinitely." She said.

I leaned back, thinking over her words. It made sense, but it also felt like everything I knew about the hierarchy had just been turned upside down.

Another student, a Beta named Karl, spoke up.

"Wait, hold on. If there are Lycan Omegas, does that mean there could be... male Omegas who could challenge an Alpha, too?" Karl asked.

Some of the students, mostly Alphas, looked uncomfortable. I could see a few of them blushing, clearly taken aback by the very idea of a male Omega challenging an Alpha. Teacher Laura gave a slight smirk, as though she knew the effect her words were having.

"Yes, male Omegas exist as well, though they are extremely rare. It's something most people don't talk about, but it's true. They don't often follow the same submissive roles we're used to associating with Omegas, and that makes them even more unique." She leaned forward a little, her gaze sweeping across the room. "These male Omegas, like their Lycan counterparts, can be just as powerful as any Alpha. But they tend to live outside the norms, carving their own path."

The room went silent. I could feel the weight of the moment, the curiosity, and the tension. It was clear this was something no one had ever really thought about before. Male Omegas, Lycan Omegas, everything I thought I knew about the Omegaverse was being thrown into question.

"Now." Teacher Laura began, her voice smooth and steady. "We'll be discussing something a bit more... personal."

The room seemed to hold its breath.

"I'm talking about heat, rut, and mate bonds."She said.

The words hung in the air, and I saw several students freeze, their eyes wide with varying degrees of discomfort. I shifted in my seat, a little uneasy myself. Teacher Laura smiled, her expression almost... knowing. She clearly enjoyed the effect she was having on the class.

"Heat." She continued. "Is the period when an Omega's body becomes... primed for mating. It's a time of intense arousal, heightened senses, and an almost uncontrollable need to find a mate. It's not something Omegas can avoid or control. It's biological, natural."

I felt my face warm as I glanced around. The room was starting to feel uncomfortably hot. I could see a few of the girls fidgeting, and some of the Alphas were looking anywhere but at the teacher.

"Ruts." She went on, her tone just a touch teasing. "Are the Alpha equivalent. It's a period of intense desire and physical urgency. A time when an Alpha's body goes into overdrive, wanting to claim a mate. Just like heat for an Omega, it's not something an Alpha can just ignore. But the most important thing you all need to understand is the concept of the mate bond."

"Mate bonds." She explained. "Are formed when an Alpha and Omega connect on a deep, instinctual level. It's more than just physical attraction, it's a binding, an irreversible connection that ties you to another person for life. It's your soul recognizing its match. Once the bond is formed, nothing can break it. No one can truly love or be loved until the bond is in place."

"And then." She continued, her voice dropping just slightly. "There's something called the mate mark. It's a visible sign that an Omega and Alpha are connected. It can be a mark on the neck, wrist, or another part of the body. It's permanent. The moment you're marked, you'll always know who your true mate is."

"Does anyone have any questions?" Teacher Laura asked, her eyes sweeping across the room.

A brave Beta raised their hand, their face flushed, clearly embarrassed but still eager to learn.

"So, if you're marked by someone… that means you're locked in a bond with them for life? Even if you don't want to be?" He asked.

Teacher Laura nodded.

"Yes. It's not something you can run from. It's instinctual. You'll find that no matter what you try to do, your body will crave your mate. The bond is something deeper than your mind, something your heart and soul understand before you even do. And once you're marked, you'll feel their presence constantly, even if you're miles apart." She said.

The room seemed to tense even further, and I noticed some of the students were shifting in their seats. A few Alphas were avoiding eye contact, likely thinking about what it meant to be bound to someone. And the Omegas, who usually kept quiet, were now fidgeting, their eyes darting nervously around the room. Another student, an Alpha this time, asked a question, his voice a little more demanding.

"So, what happens if two Alphas or two Omegas form a bond? Would it still work?

Or would it... clash?"He asked.

Teacher Laura smiled, clearly enjoying the questions.

"Ah, good question. That's where things get complicated. An Alpha-Alpha or Omega-Omega bond is exceedingly rare, and when it happens, it often leads to tension. But if the bond forms, it's still a mate bond. It just takes a lot of patience and compromise to make it work."She said.

A girl who had been blushing throughout the lesson whispered to her friend.

"But… but what if you don't want a mate? What if you can't handle it?"She asked.

Teacher Laura raised an eyebrow.

"That's a question only you can answer. Some people fight it, but in the end, the bond is a part of who they are. It's like fighting against your own instincts. And believe me, that's never easy."She said.

I could hear a few students murmur to each other, the gravity of the subject weighing on their minds. I found myself deep in thought, thinking about what all this meant for me. Was this bond something I could ever experience? I am hero and I don't have time for all of this, but could I?
