Inside a bakery shop, the two chooses a flavor for their cake…
"So which one should we buy?"
'Chocolate's good, right?'
"Mmm, yea, but this mango flavored one also looks delicious…"
'There's even chicken a flavored one!'
" Wha-"
Like little children choosing their ice cream flavors for the first time. They fight for which one they should buy, and with the little to no money they have, they can only afford to buy one cake.
While buying cake from the store, the sound of wheels rolling becomes more audible towards them. Like a looming threat nearing close…
After 20 minutes later of going back and fort, they walk out with a box of cake in hand,
*bang*
*bang*
Numbers scrolling randomly from 1-10 appears above Navi's head. Stopping at 2, a bird swoops in and takes the box with the cake inside away, and falls into the hands of the hooded person with the number 9 above their head.
While confused by what happened, the hooded person starts skating away, trying to leave the scene without being noticed.
"Our cake!!"
After analyzing what happened, Kami creates a shield using the scarfs hand. Strings appear from the scarfs end, as it forms to the shape of a shield, hardening as it finishes.
Using a spare tint from before, Navi places it behind her while placing the shield on top of the tint.
Navi stands on the shield, flattening the tint and exploding, propelling herself away.
The two flies through the sky, scarf hand holding on to Kami to not get blown away by the strong breeze.
But while soaring in the air…
*bang*
Scrolling numbers appears, remembering what happened earlier Kami thinks to create a crate around the number, trying to contain it.
The number stops at 5 without Kami and Navi knowing what happened inside the created crate...
The hooded person escaping from the scene, giggling to himself...
"hehe, what a lucky find. a freshly bought cake just for me~".
While excitedly thinking about eating the cake, the hooded person fails to check their surroundings and coming from the sky, Navi hits them behind, breaking their back and flinging the hood off the person's head…
"HAND OVER OUR CAKE!!"
"aghh-haa!!"
The person looks over to Navi with a furious look,
'A kid?'
*bang*
He shoots himself...
Numbers 6-10 scroll above his head, while picking up a brick from a chimney near him, and throws it towards Navi.
Kami tries to destroy the brick by creating a sharp rock and throwing it towards the brick, while this happens, the number above the boys head stops at 8...
The projectiles crumbles as it hits each other, and what remains are tiny pieces from the bricks and rock.
The pebbles falls in between the two buildings they're standing on, hits a bystander on the eye in the middle of sneezing.
"Aghh!!"
Navi runs towards the boy and in response, he points his finger towards Navi and,
*bang*
Navi rolls a 3,
The man from below screams in pain because of the pebble falling on their eyes, and frantically moves around before bumping into a trash can, surprising a cat with two tails.
The cat jumps onto the rooftop, tripping Navi off her feet in the middle of preparing to jump and falls.
Because of how light Kami is, as a hat, they get separated from Navi's head and Navi seems to fall asleep.
Landing on the person below, Kami floats in the air and lands back onto Navi's head.
She opens her eyes with confusion.
"Huh? Ow…?!"
Laying on the ground confused, Navi looks around her surroundings and sees walls and trash. Realizing she's fallen off from the roof, she looks up.
Looking down on them from the roof, the boy prepares to scream while he shoots himself with a pissed look on his face.
*bang*
"maybe next time dont break my back!!"
Scrolling from 8-10, he rolls a 10,
fixing his broken back and skating away…
"Ughh... Kami... what just happened?"
Getting hurt from a big fall of a 2 story house, Navi moves to the side and helps the person she fell on stand up.
Using healing magic, she treats the persons crushed bones because of the fall, before doing the same to her self.
The person leaves with a fearful expression, but still thanks Navi for healing his injuries.
Continuing from Navi's question from earlier, Kami answers…
'Seems like we ran into a 「Borrower」.'
"The ones who got gifted by an almighty being randomly? I thought you were the only one?"
'I don't remember telling you that… besides, objects can't be a 「Borrower」. And as the name implies, they only borrow the powers of a "Lender", receiving a power from them makes you a 「Borrower」, and that received power makes you feel invincible, untouchable, and… a "God" ...
But it only makes you "feel" like one, not "be one", and for all I know the receiving part isn't random.'
While Kami was explaining, Navi groans in her mind trying not to interrupt Kami's dialogue. But Kami realizes this and creates a rocking chair and a pillow.
'Sorry it's not a normal chair.'
"It's the thought that counts, thanks!"
Sitting down on the chair with the pillow on top of it, the swelling from her buttocks soothes.
The conversation continues…
"So, what makes you think it isn't random?"
'I don't remember. Besides this is only the second time I've encountered a 「Borrower」. First guy was a nightmare to fight, he wasn't much of a talker either.'
"But you made it out without a scratch, right?"
'…right…'
"But the boy who stole our cake… He didn't seem that powerful…?"
'Oh yea, no, he is powerful, every 「Borrower」 is.'
"He's powerful… why?"
'He borrowed 「Luck 」!'
"Wait, borrowed?! Doesn't that mean he asked for the power?"
'Well… you can still call it borrowing if it's given to you and you use it. It's the same as you "borrowing" my powers even though you didn't ask for it.'
Realizing what Kami said, Navi swings back and forth on the rocking chair and answers by saying she gets it. But Kami reads her mind and chuckled after that.
'Anyways, the numbers on top of us that appeared when we heard a bang, probably means the luck we got. When we got a 2 it probably meant we had a really bad luck, which caused the loss of our cake. And since I saw him getting a 9, it definitely means that he had better luck than us.'
"So how do we counter someone who can use luck as their weapon in a fight?"
Kami's expression changes from a know-it-all to a gloomy face in a matter of seconds after hearing what Navi said.
'We just have to get "lucky" with the rolls we get… haha~. But don't worry!''
Kami creates another ladder and tells Navi to go up and grab the crate that's been left on the roof.
Acquiring the crate…
"That's the crate from... before? What about it?"
'Well, It seems there's more to his power that he himself doesn't even know.'
Opening the crate, they see a beaten up apple inside…
"How's an apple gonna do to help us…? bruised apple even…"
Navi reaches to the bruised apple and tries to eat it. Realizing what she was doing, Kami grabs the apple before it even reaches to Navi's mouth and throws it away, making Navi disappointed and Kami worried.
'It seems like I can create anything with his powers combined with mine!'
"Wait! Didn't you need to watch something get created for you to use 「Creation 」?"
'Exactly! I don't know why or how, but with his power, I can create anything!… as long as we get lucky that is.'
With the acquired knowledge about their opponents power, they look for leads on where the kid could be at.
They seek for clues, like asking the people about a kid who uses a skateboard and wears a clover shorts, but to no luck, until…
"Hey!! haa~"
Running towards them, a man wearing an apron…
It was the bread owner from before whose bread was stolen by the boy.
"Uhmm, you are…?"
"haa~ Oh sorry! haa~ We haven't met yet have we?"
With a panting breath, he pauses for a moment and catches his breath to speak normally.
"Names Danny, nice to meet you!"
With a radiant smile emanating from Danny, Navi's worry seems to disappear.
Kami, not wanting to waste time on looking for the boy, they tell Navi to ask what Danny wants.
"Oh, sorry, what do you want again, Mr. Danny?"
Danny surprised by being called "Mr.", tells Navi to not worry about formality and addresses to her that she can just call him Danny.
"You're looking for a kid that wears clover patterned shorts right?"
"Yes! He kind of stole me and Kami's cake and ran away."
Whilst pointing towards her hat, Kami, leaving Danny confused for a bit, then going back to their topic, while Kami thinks to themself.
'I should really find a way to make people think I'm actually sentient, rather than just making them realize themselves that my eyes aren't just holes.'
"Perfect! I am also looking for that kid. He stole the bread on my window, I chased him, then blew up. Long story short, I just want revenge."
"Wait… were you the one who was inside that tint shop?"
"Oh, yes I am! Ac- wait, wait, were diverging from our main topic! Uhmm… I heard from others that they saw a child from the roofs going towards north, and from what I know that's where the abandoned buildings are."
Navi delighted by the information given to her, shows gratitude towards Danny and quickly runs off away to the direction given.
Not even five seconds later, Navi comes back, questioning Danny if he wants to come with. Danny shakes his head no and tells her that he's just a normal person that doesn't want to fight, since he knows he can't survive from a 「Borrower」, and that, he just got lucky from before and…
"I'm also running a store, so, not that much I can do rather than speak words from my mouth, haha. Thanks, Navi! Goodluck."
Before putting his hand in a ready position for a handshake…
"Ah! Yes, thank you as well! I'll tell you what happens afterwards after we meet again!"
The two shake hands and waves farewell before parting ways, as the sun gracefully descends behind the mountain range, casting its final glow over the city of Kurstle, which begins to draw to a serene halt…
