Chapter 2 - The Falling Sky

The night was slowly falling over Era-Nova.

Lior was barely asleep in his room, his heart still heavy with the dark thoughts that haunted him, when a scream suddenly pulled him from his sleep.

A woman's scream.

Mélina, the mother of this new family.

He jumped out of bed, followed by his younger brother, Dean, a 15-year-old boy whose face was still marked by innocence but who could no longer escape the weight of the events.

— "Was that mom?! " Dean asked, worried.

Lior didn't answer. His heart was pounding. He ran down the stairs, Dean right behind him. But when they reached the living room, he found... nothing. The TV still on, controllers scattered about, as if everything had shifted in an instant.

An eerie silence.

Lior swallowed. He headed toward the parents' bedroom.

> He prayed inwardly that it was just a crisis, a dream... anything but this.

When he opened the door… his world crumbled.

---

The bodies.

Decapitated.

The heads resting at the foot of the bed.

The torsos gutted. The organs scattered.

Blood splattered everywhere, even on the ceiling. A slaughter beyond belief.

The mother had tried to crawl. The father… hadn't even had time to move.

Dean, who had been behind him, tried to peer over his shoulder.

— "No!" Lior shouted, turning around suddenly to block him.

He slammed the door shut and pressed his back against it.

— "It's… nothing, Dean. They're not here. They must have gone somewhere. Go back to sleep."

Dean frowned, disappointed, but nodded slowly:

— "Okay…"

He returned to the living room, resuming his game, as if trying to escape this strange reality.

But Lior was frozen.

Every fiber of his being screamed.

He knew. He knew that something terrible had just begun.

But as he tried to regain his composure, a detail slipped past his attention.

---

Dean was no longer in the living room.

A scream. A door opening. Rapid footsteps.

Lior ran, but too late.

Dean was standing in the room, barefoot in the blood, his eyes wide open.

He was screaming.

— "Mom? Dad? Answer me!"

He stepped forward, almost slipping on the strange liquid.

— "It's just juice, right? You're joking, right?! This isn't funny…"

His voice trembled. His gaze was lost. And tears poured endlessly.

— "Tell me it's a joke…"

> A shattered child.

Innocence trampled by the cruelty of a world without rules.

And Lior, unable to take a step. Frozen. Haunted.

For he knew: Dean would never be the same again.

PS:

Hello, it's me, the author. I'm 15 years old, and I know I'm not very good at explaining things, and everything isn't placed in the right order, but I keep going because I love light novels. Since it's not a drawing, I thought I could work on my imagination. I don't speak English well, and there are words I used Google Translate for to translate them. I'm French.

Merci de lire mon imagination
