Chapter 1 - Survival First.

AGC (After Great Calamity) Calendar Year 34. April 15.

Huff!

Huff!

"Hey, come and carry it! I have to go report!"

The sun rays, which had been missing for some time now, finally brightened the surface again, marking the arrival of a long-awaited dawn.

With the rise of the sun, bathed in blood and sweat, the heroes returned victorious.

Hundreds of the awakened carried the bodies of their fallen comrades.

The reflected rays made the blood-stained grounds clearly visible to the onlookers.

There was silence.

This victory wasn't an easy one. More than 70% of both those with destiny of humans and the sought-after indiviusals, born with destiny of hero… had died here.

And those lucky enough to survive were either disabled or had sustained enough injuries to prompt their retirement.

But this wasn't really a blow to humanity. In fact, the higher-ups were satisfied with the results.

It was a clear victory.

The villain subjugation was fully successful, resulting in the death of every targeted villain.

Well... not exactly every...

Huff! Huff!

In the outskirts of the subjugation zone, one body—out of the many battered, drop-dead ones, twitched. The body was breathing, though rough and rugged, it was fully covered in blood.

Some of it was from others, while his open wounds made it clear that he was also bleeding heavily.

The luxurious coat he once wore was now tattered. His underpants were even visible from some places. But he didn't care. More like—he couldn't. One of his eyes was damaged, and it was hurting like crazy just to see.

His situation was critical. A lot of things weren't making sense to him. And on that he was confused.

The human's innate survival instinct kicked in at such a desperate moment.

Numb with pain, his body moved, barely, but enough. He didn't understand everything that was going on, but one thing was clear to him.

He had to survive.

And for that… he had to stop the bleeding first.

[Quest: Stop the bleeding! And survive!]

[Reward: Access to main quest and information!]

'What?? A system?? My brain is not braining right now… Let me just stop the bleeding first.'

The man thought briefly before forcing himself to move again. He was actually familiar with systems, transmigration, and all those fantasy elements, he had read and watched countless novels and anime about them.

But at the moment, it was too draining to think about all that.

So he just focused on the survival for now.

His eyes scanned the area, searching for any cloth he could use to wrap his open wounds. In this sea of dead bodies and blood, there was no shortage of cloth, but he needed something slightly better, if he used infected material, his wounds might get worse. He might even need to amputate them later.

That was basic medical knowledge known to every modern person.

And finally, he spotted a banded box.

'A first aid kit? Here?'

He paused for a second. It was obviously suspicious. Why would there be a first aid kit lying around on a battlefield?

But with time ticking and his life force fading, there was no room for doubt.

If he was going to die anyway, there was no point being cautious now.

With a small leap, he reached the first aid kit, only to catch, from the corner of his eye, a group of people approaching. Heavily armed, well-equipped, dressed in what looked like modern combat gear.

By instinct alone, he knew, they weren't from his side. They were here to make sure no one was left alive.

As for why, he had no idea.

And judging by where the first aid kit was, it was likely brought in by them to save their own people.

Without wasting another second, he grabbed the box and dashed off, hiding himself among a pile of dead bodies.

Without hesitation, he started wrapping the bandages around his wounds, even covering his damaged left eye.

But the wounds were too deep. The bandages weren't enough.

That's when he noticed a strange, red liquid stored in a fancy-looking glass container inside the kit.

It was his first time seeing something like this. But thanks to his inner weeb knowledge, he figured, this had to be a healing potion.

Even though those guys looked like they were from the world he knew, everything around him screamed that this wasn't the same Earth.

And besides, if the liquid was in a first aid kit, it couldn't be poison… right?

So, taking a gamble, he poured the entire liquid over the visible wounds on his body.

It immediately delivered a burning sensation, followed by a wave of itchiness.

Then came a dry, tight feeling. But after a few moments, the bleeding stopped completely and just like that, the pain was gone.

'So it really was a potion…'

He quickly unwrapped the bandages to check the results, and just as he suspected, everything had healed miraculously. Only scars remained where the wounds had been.

Ding!

A pop-up sound echoed in his mind, and a golden window appeared, floating in front of him.

'The fuck?'

"Let's think about it after I escape this place," he muttered under his breath.

Now that his wounds were healed, the next priority was clear, escape. If he stayed here, he'd eventually be caught and killed on the spot.

Trusting his ears, he emerged from the pile of dead bodies he'd been hiding in, waiting until the surrounding sounds had died down.

Not because everyone had left, on the contrary, even more enemy warriors had now joined the area.

And they were checking more carefully now.

But thankfully, they were still far enough from his location. Grabbing the chance, he bolted, making a run for the edge of the war zone.

He was already near the outskirts, yet it still felt maddeningly far. Eventually, he reached what looked like a boundary line, only to realize the worst.

More enemy soldiers were stationed there, and a thick barrier surrounded the entire place. It seemed designed to stop anyone like him from escaping.

Meanwhile, indivisuals from their own faction could pass through freely.

"…I am really fucked."
