After looking around his sea of consciousness for a while, Alvin exited his meditative state and tried entering his sea of consciousness again. Unlike the first time, entering it the second time was not difficult, as he could simply enter his sea of consciousness just by closing his eyes and thinking about it.
"Now that I have learned to access my sea of consciousness, tell me how to cast magic," Alvin asked with shining eyes.
Golden Turtle said lazily, "You have never practiced any spell before, so casting a proper spell like Fireball is impossible. But if you want, I can teach you how to manifest elements."
Alvin nodded seriously. "Anything will do, as long as it is magic. When I was little, I even secretly dreamed of becoming a magician so that I could show off in front of the beauties in my class. Now that there is a chance, I will definitely amaze some beauties with my charm."
Golden Turtle looked at Alvin's bald head and said mockingly, "First grow some hair on your head, then we can talk about wooing girls later."
Alvin's mouth twitched. "What do you know? Back in my world, being bald was a fashion. Even famous celebrities had bald heads... so mind your own business and teach me how to make a fireball."
"There is nothing much to study. Focus on the core star of your fire element and visualize fire forming on your fingertip," Golden Turtle said flatly.
Alvin closed his eyes and focused on the orange star in his sea of consciousness. After that, he visualized a fireball in his palm and willed the orange star to manifest it.
Suddenly, Alvin felt heat in his hands, and when he opened his eyes, he saw a small flame the size of a candle burning above his palm. But the next second, the flame went out as though it had run out of oil.
Alvin also felt mentally weak at that moment. He looked at the turtle gloomily. "Actually, I willed for a fireball to appear, but what appeared is a candle flame. On top of that, I feel sleepy like hell. Can this magic really kill beasts?"
"Well, magic cast by others can indeed kill beasts, but you cannot since your divine bone is practically junk. As for why a fireball didn't appear as you willed, that is because you have to have a spell rune in your sea of consciousness for the fireball spell if you want to create one," the turtle said.
When Alvin looked in his sea of consciousness, he saw his orange star had already dimmed completely. "Oh, so my mana was only enough to light a candle. What a waste..."
After mumbling to himself, Alvin fell on the bed and soon fell asleep.
At noon, he was woken up by Alice for lunch.
Alvin sleepily stood up from the bed and after washing his face, walked to the hall where several servants had already prepared a vast array of dishes.
Feana, Joshi, Joel, and Alice were all standing near their chairs when Alvin reached the hall. He smiled at all of them and casually walked up to the largest chair and sat down.
After Alvin, the others also sat down one by one. Over the five days here, Alvin was already used to their high level of respect toward him, so he didn't think much of it and started munching on a chicken leg in front of him. This was just normal chicken and not some magical beast meat, since Alvin didn't have any cultivation now. Even if he was given high quality beast meat, he would not be able to chew through it.
All the others at the table were eating high grade magical beast meat elegantly with spoons and forks, unlike Alvin who appeared like an uncultured simpleton since he ate the food with bare hands.
After Alvin became a special soldier, he never ate food with a spoon and fork, as he usually spent most of his time in forests and battlefields where even getting something to eat was considered a luxury. Who would think about elegance there?
"Boss, I have collected ingredients for purifying your dragon bloodline. You can tell me when you have time. I will brew the bloodline spirit awakening potion for you," Feana said as she was eating her food.
Alvin bit off a piece from the chicken leg in his hand and said while chewing, "Mmm... how about it, let's do it in the evening."
Feana nodded and calmly resumed focusing on her food.
"Boss, Senior Sister asked me to prepare some numbing agent to ease the pain during the bloodline purification, but I directly declined. After all, how can a little bit of pain make brave warriors like us frown, right?" Joshi said with a chuckle.
Alvin frowned. "Will it be painful?"
Feana nodded. "It would be good to use some numbing medicine, since it will hurt a little..."
Joshi interrupted her with a mocking sneer. "Senior Sister, numbing medicine is for kids. Don't compare our boss with some little brats who will whine even if they are bitten by an ant."
Golden Turtle also chimed in, "At least act like Draven a little. It won't hurt much even if you don't use any numbing agent."
Alvin laughed, "Yeah, yeah... Feana, don't worry about that. I won't even frown if someone poked a knife right through my chest. What is there to worry about such a minor pain?"
Alice looked at Alvin worriedly. "But boss, your dragon bloodline is a royal bloodline, it will really be painful when you try to suppress the other bloodlines."
Alvin's smile stiffened. When he looked at the Golden Turtle, he saw it scratching its head awkwardly. "Oh, I forgot. Since we are going to suppress a dominant bloodline with more than ninety percent purity, it may be a bit more painful than simply suppressing dormant bloodlines to awaken the dominant bloodline."
Alvin's face darkened. Although he didn't understand what the turtle was saying, one thing was sure—it was going to really hurt.
Alvin looked at Feana, and just as he was about to make up some excuse to use numbing medicine, Joshi laughed as he looked at Alice. "Little girl, only weak girls like you need such medicine. We men don't need such things meant for kids."
Alice looked at Joshi angrily, but she didn't say anything and remained quiet. Alvin's mouth twitched. 'This idiot will surely become the cause of my death one day.'
That afternoon, inside a spacious room in the mansion...
At the center of the room, there was a huge basin-like pot about two meters in height. Under the pot, a strange flame could be seen burning, but there was no visible fire source.
Feana was holding a book in her hand, and from time to time she would toss different ingredients into the pot. As time passed, a heavy aura could be felt around the pot. Alvin, Joshi, Joel, and Alice were standing at one side observing Feana as she brewed the bloodline purification potion.
"Alice, what are those red colored balls Feana is throwing into the pot?" Alvin asked Alice, who was standing near him.
"They are dragon hearts. Since your bloodline is one of the nine royal bloodlines, we have to provide a large amount of blood essence for it to fully awaken, compared to ordinary dragon bloodlines," Alice whispered back in a low voice.
"Boss, get ready. The potion is ready," Feana called out to Alvin.
Alvin nodded and looked towards Alice. "Where are the containers to store the soup? It will take a long time to drink all this."
Alice looked at Alvin strangely. "Boss, you are going to bathe in the medicinal water. It is not for drinking."
"What..." Alvin's eyes nearly bulged out in shock. "Do you mean I have to enter the pot when the water is still bubbling like molten lava?"
Joshi laughed. "Boss, you are really funny. I didn't know you had such a great sense of humor before."
Alvin glared at Joshi and gritted his teeth. 'Due to this bastard, I can't even have numbing medicine. Damn it.'
Reluctantly, Alvin removed his white shirt and pants, wearing only his underpants. Compared to Alvin's previous perfect body, now his body looked like that of an old man with wrinkled skin and a lean figure which made it easy to count the number of bones inside his body.
The only thing that remained unchanged were the scars all over his body, which were proof of all the battles he had fought in his life.
Alice and the others sighed when they saw Alvin's appearance without clothes. It seemed their leader was truly reaching the end of his life.
