Chapter 6 - The patriarch wolf!

In my inventory, I had eleven frail sticks, the fang of the prince wolf, and another item that I was seeing for the first time.

What's this? The matriarch wolf must have dropped it, or one of the wolves in this den did. It didn't really matter which was the case because I was going to equip it regardless. After doing so, I also equipped the fang of the prince wolf. Now, it was time for the skill trees. I had two choices: pride and the swordsmanship of the monarch.

<>

I didn't unlock it right away because I wanted to explore all my options first and only then make an informed decision.

There was a definitive winner, and it wasn't the deadly sin of pride, however…

<>

So, even though I unlocked skill trees, I didn't have the means to learn skills from them just yet. I needed something called myth points, whatever they were...

Checking my health, I noticed that it was already full. That being said, there was a problem: even though that was the case, my injury persisted and lingered. What gives?

When I investigated, I saw that I had a status condition.

<>

What to do? "I suppose that I could take a break… just a little bit longer…"

I walked through the passage, deeper into the den of wolves, where more wolves awaited me. But these were stronger. They had more health: one hundred sixty-four points more. And probably dealt more damage too; they were elites.

Appearance-wise, though, they were slightly bigger than their non-elite counterparts.

There were around half a hundred of them in the chamber. However, they were not a problem. A single swordsman's arc hit ten of them, reducing their health by more than half, which in turn stunned them. This allowed me to use the swordsman's arc again to finish them off. It was quite a boring and tedious fight that resulted in me gaining 93,750 experience points and leveling me up to level seven. However, the durability of my fang of the prince wolf dagger dropped to twenty-five. There was no reason for me to keep using my only weapon on these pups. I went back to the frail sticks.

<>

The patriarch wolf was the biggest out of them all, and his whole body was covered in scars, making him look more threatening than he actually was.

<>

His health was high too.

<>

But just like the other wolves, his affinity with the dark element was non-existent.

<>

Since I was fighting a boss, I went back to the fang of the prince wolf.

<>

The patriarch wolf howled, but it was not an ordinary howl. It was a buffing howl, yet it didn't matter.

I was free to attack for five seconds, but I only needed one.

There was another passage which meant that I was not done yet.

The new chamber was the last by the absence of new passages; however, it was full of matriarch wolves. But there was something else here too.

<>

First, I had to deal with the matriarch wolves, which I did with a single swordsman's arc.

Now it was just me and the elder grand wolf. It was old, obvious from the way its fur looked. Its eyes were orange, but most importantly, it remained calm. It did not growl or snarl, simply observing me in calmness and peace. This made me relax, if only slightly; that was my mistake, as it was precisely when it charged at me, letting out a piercing howl, buffing itself while debuffing me.

I—did nothing—because I was logged out, forcefully. My time in the capsule has run out in the worst possible time. Naturally, I was annoyed. I bought an extension as quickly as I was able and logged back in as quickly as possible. However, I was no longer in the den of wolves. I was in the depths of chaos, an unpleasant place with thirteen black suns hanging in the colorless sky, casting an unsettling light over everything. My level was back to seven too. And Xanda stood before me. "It's disappointing that you died like that," she sighed. "Do I have to be hands-on like that bitch? The so-called sole goddess of the multiverse…"
