Chapter 3: A Thorn in the Shadows
Location: Leo's nightclub, the following evening.
The nightclub was alive with its usual chaos—a thundering bassline that vibrated through the walls, flashes of colored lights illuminating the sea of bodies below. Leo watched from his private balcony, his expression unreadable. To him, the club was less a source of entertainment and more a tool, a meeting ground for deals and alliances, a lure for the naive and dangerous alike.
But tonight, his thoughts were elsewhere.
---
A Persistent Shadow
"Mr. Leone," Marco said, approaching from behind. "The stranger from last night... he's back."
Leo's jaw tightened. "Back?"
"Yes. And he's acting... casual, like he belongs here." Marco's unease was palpable.
Leo turned, his eyes sharp as blades. "Let him stay. I want to see what game he's playing."

Kai's Soft Disruption
Downstairs, Kai was leaning against the bar, chatting with the bartender like an old friend. His soft demeanor and easy smile seemed out of place in a world where survival often depended on silence and strength.
The bartender, clearly charmed, handed him a drink. "You don't seem like the type to hang around here often."
Kai chuckled. "I could say the same about you."
Leo watched the interaction from his balcony, his eyes narrowing. There was something off about the man—something he couldn't put his finger on.
---
A Calculated Move
Without a word, Leo descended the stairs, his presence immediately commanding attention. The crowd parted for him instinctively, the room falling into a hushed tension.
Kai noticed him approaching but didn't move, his relaxed posture unchanged.
"Back again?" Leo said, his voice low and dangerous. "Didn't I make it clear this place isn't for you?"
Kai smiled, taking a slow sip of his drink. "You did. But I'm starting to think you don't mean it."
Leo's eyes flashed with annoyance. "You've got guts, I'll give you that. But guts only get you so far."
Kai set his glass down, meeting Leo's gaze with an unexpected steadiness. "I'm not here to cause trouble. Just enjoying the atmosphere."
"You're testing my patience."
Kai tilted his head, his smile never faltering. "You seem like a man who could use a little patience."
---
The Warning
Leo leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Listen carefully. I don't care who you are or why you're here. But if you overstep again, I'll make sure you regret it."
Kai didn't flinch. "Duly noted."
Leo straightened, his frustration growing. This man was too calm, too confident. It was unnerving.
"Marco," Leo called, his eyes never leaving Kai. "Keep an eye on him. I want to know everything about this... guest."
Kai watched Leo walk away, his expression unreadable. Once the mafia boss was out of sight, a faint smirk curled at the edges of his lips.

Leo's Unsettled Mind
Back in his office, Leo poured himself a drink, his thoughts circling around the stranger. There was something about him that Leo couldn't shake—a quiet, unspoken challenge.
Nero squawked from his perch. "Danger! Danger!"
Leo sighed, rubbing his temples. "Even you think he's trouble, huh?"
But as much as he wanted to dismiss the man, Leo's instincts told him there was more to this so-called ordinary visitor.
For the first time in years, someone had entered his world uninvited, and Leo didn't like it one bit.
