From what he could remember in his past life, there were seven professions at the start of [Apocalypse].
And just like he had expected, those seven appeared in front of him.
[Warrior], [Mage], [Archer], [Cleric], [Assassin], [Summoner], [Beast Tamer].
Riley's gaze hovered over the seven options for sometime, pondering over what would be the best for him.
In his past life, he had gone along with the Warrior profession, because he felt like it was the best for his talent.
However, he later realised that was a mistake, as the warrior class actually turned out to be a terrible fit for him, because of his poor physique.
Besides, his talent was just too weak, something which further slowed him down.
But now that he had a second chance at this, he decided he wouldn't go with the warrior profession.
"Assassin." He muttered, letting out a low sigh.
There was a reason he decided to go for this particular profession, and that was because it could later evolve into one of the most powerful classes in the game.
Though Mage was also a class like that, he never really liked it much.
He preferred to be one who stayed and fought from the shadows, and he didn't plan on showing off too much within the game.
[Congratulations! You have become an assassin!]
[Now entering into the world of Apocalypse!]
Immediately, the scenery around him wrapped, and the next thing he knew, he appeared in a large forest clearing.
Tall trees surrounded him, their leaves fluttering softly in the wind. The air smelled of moss and dirt. A narrow dirt path ran through the middle of the clearing, leading deeper into the woods.
Above his head, a translucent interface hovered in the corner of his vision.

Riley nodded as he stared at the status window floating in front of him.
It was pretty much the same as it was in his past life, except for the fact that he was now an Assassin, and also had an SSS-level talent!
The prior knowledge of his status window was another reason he chose the assassin profession.
Perhaps it was because he used to race when he was younger, but his agility had always been an edge above the rest of his stats.
With his assassin class, he could now make the best use of it.
He then looked down at himself.
The clothes were as ragged as he remembered.
In his hands were a pair of daggers, the starting weapon for an assassin in the game.
While he was still wallowing in his thoughts, white lights continued flickering around him as many others poured into the game.
"Wow… it looks so real!"
"I can even smell the grass… how wonderful!"
"So this is what those Beta players were enjoying… I wish I had been one of them."
"It doesn't matter anyway, we'll catch up, sooner or later! All we have to do is grind hard!"
Their incessant chatting filled the air, and Riley's face squeezed into a slight frown.
'Yeah, I almost forgot about that… the beta players.' He thought, letting out a light sigh.
If he was honest with himself, a part of him also regretted not being chosen a week earlier, however, it didn't really matter anymore.
He had something now that no one else could take from him.
He had Gluttony.
He grinned.
In his past life, he had wandered aimlessly for hours before finally finding a village where he could start his first quest.
By then, most of the strong players had already taken all the good loot and monopolized the early monster zones.
This time, he knew better.
He turned sharply to the east and began running through the trees.
One of the other players seeing where he was running to shouted: "Hey! Don't go there… that place's dangerous, especially for new players like us!"
"What is he, stupid? Didn't he bother to read the forums before today?"
"Just ignore him, he's just an idiot."
The players behind him gave different comments on him rushing to the east, but Riley simply ignored them.
He fully knew what he was doing, and that was thanks to his years of experience from his past life.
There were four novice villages around the spawn point, and the players were allowed to venture into anyone they wished.
No one should know about the existence of the small village in the east now, as it was still meant to be discovered about a week later.
Most of the early players went to the starting village on the west or south, because they were the ones with the juiciest of quests.
Besides, the path to the east was filled with powerful monsters, and the few who tried passing the east quickly gave up after seeing the large number of beasts on the way there.
Just past this forest, less than two kilometers away, there was a hidden cave with a monster that most players usually didn't find until level 5 or 6.
A lone [Fanged Boar], mutated by a dark crystal.
If his guess was right, it should be around level two or at most three currently, but it was more ferocious compared to normal level one monsters.
It had taken players weeks to figure that out.
Besides, taking the monster down would mean gaining the reputation of the village head, and that alone would increase his reputation points by about fifty!
But Riley knew how to counter most of those monsters, and with his talent, he could consume them, thereby growing even stronger!
He picked up speed, his lips curling into a smirk.
'Stealth!' He thought, and a light sensation rapidly spread across his body.
His blurry vision sharpened, and the forest around him began to blur into a rush of color and light.
This time…
He wouldn't be left behind.
