Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

East Province, Dawnland County, Morningstar City, Starlight Institute

The staffroom of Starlight Institute buzzed with anticipation as Headmaster Harrison Green gathered the teachers to discuss the upcoming Teacher Assessment Program. Scheduled to take place in two weeks, the event would pit students against each other in a display of martial arts skills, with their teachers' reputations hanging in the balance.

"Hello, everyone," Harrison Green began, his authoritative voice commanding attention. "I called you here to discuss the Teacher Assessment Program. Now, I want to hear about your preparations for the assessment."

Liam Reed, a renowned teacher at Starlight Institute, stood up confidently. "My students have been training hard for this event. I'm confident they'll rank in the top three again this month." His smile hinted at pride, but his eyes sparkled with genuine enthusiasm.

The Headmaster nodded, his expression approving. "Good." He looked at the other teachers, his gaze lingering on each one. Ms. Evelyn Rose, another well-known teacher, stood up next. "My students have also been training diligently. I believe they'll secure a good ranking."

The other teachers followed suit, each standing up to assure the Headmaster that their students were practicing hard and would achieve high rankings. The room filled with the murmur of their voices, each one trying to outdo the others in confidence and boasts.

As the teachers spoke, the Headmaster's eyes wandered to the only silent figure in the room – Mr. Allen. He seemed detached, his expression unreadable. The Headmaster's curiosity was piqued.

"Mr. Allen, what about you?" he asked, his voice drawing everyone's attention to the quiet teacher.

The Headmaster, a peak-level 3-star martial warrior, called out to him, and John looked up, his expression awkward. The other teachers turned to glance at him, their faces filled with disdain. John ignored them, accustomed to their scorn, and focused on the Headmaster.

"Headmaster, you don't have to worry," John said awkwardly. "My students are listening to my lectures seriously and practicing diligently."

Liam Reed, a renowned teacher, snorted in derision. "Which stupid lectures are you teaching them? How to fail miserably? They've always ranked last, and this assessment won't be any different."

The other teachers nodded, trying to stifle their laughter, but a few chuckles escaped their lips.

You don't have to worry about my class Mr. Reed. We'll do just fine but I thank you for your concern.

The room fell silent, with the other teachers exchanging skeptical glances. Liam Reed cleared his throat, his expression condescending. "Well, we'll see how your students fare against ours, Mr. Allen."

The Headmaster cleared his throat, regaining their attention.

"Mr. Allen, you realize this is your last chance, right?" he said. John gritted his teeth and nodded. "If your students still perform below average and fail to get a good ranking, your teacher's qualifications will be revoked."

John's face tensed, and he clenched his fists. "Yes, I understand," he said.

The Headmaster nodded. "Good. Go back and continue with your preparations. This meeting is over; you're dismissed."

The teachers nodded and stood up, filing out of the room.
