Chapter 5: Progress
~Prof. Oak POV~
[Kanto Region, Nighttime, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]
Ah… Another Trainer is off to attempt to finish my work on completing the Pokedex. I must be getting old.
I do have to admit this Fire Red boy is certainly an interesting Trainer and a wonderful rival to my grandson, Blue Oak, helping each other and growing in the process. I hope they do get along.
Walking away down Route 1, I was merely minding my own business as I kept myself at ease, looking at the damage my home had taken from accidentally scaring the boy. Seeing my labs saddens this old man's heart greatly, seeing my lab's state.
Sigh… Maybe I should consider getting proper security here with the fact people just seem to enter inside my home. Maybe a Growlithe would be helpful with their sense of smell, knowing the person who came in.
As I was wondering – Wait, was my door always open before I left?
I checked inside my lab and checked that everything was in order, and no Pokémon had been stolen while I was away. I checked around to see if there was – who had raided my fridge?!
Running ahead, I see my refrigerator wide open. I know for sure I didn't leave that open as I was hoping for fried Tofu later, and I got robbed twice in a day?!
Who the heck would steal my food – wait, were they the only ones they took?
Suddenly, I felt goosebumps at the idea. No, they did not…
I pale at the idea as I immediately began to search around my lab, noticing that not only was my food stolen from me, but my gosh darn research books and training manuals! Seriously, is today 'Let's go rob the same guy twice a day or something?!
Checking up my security cameras, I checked the surveillance to see how it came in, and to my shock, I found one came into my home… I felt my heart sink when I saw the culprit who robbed me blind, as the video footage had been deleted.
It made my heart sting to see someone rob me! I gritted my teeth seeing he took my food, books, and all my cooking supplies, filling my heart with deep despair – oh no…
I clenched my chest at this absurdity I've been handed! The thief gosh damn it took my Squirtle in the process with my money?!!
Argh…! Damn you universe and thieves I will one day capture you all for the injustice I suffered today?!!!
But still, though, what reason would the girl steal from me, of course? The girl had no clue, although she looked familiar. But then the video footage got deleted, causing me to frown and make a note to make a password next time.
Hmm… I'd better tell my grandson to be on the lookout for this girl who stole my stuff. And the police… no.
Shaking my head, I get the feeling I know this girl. But for now, when she comes around, I'll be ready for her.
Sigh… I hope the boy managed to find his Pikachu. For now, all I can do is hope for Blue and Red to fulfill my dreams of completing the Pokedex.

~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Next Day, Morning, Viridian City – Hotel]
Waking up in the morning, I began to get up and see my belongings. I checked my clothing and body, and seeing everything I had was not a dream, I muttered, "Ah… guess everything that happened wasn't a dream after all."
Rubbing my head I couldn't help but say damn. Here, I thought I was dreaming everything up. I guess I was transported into the Pokémon World, not an ordinary one, in the Manga version of Pokémon Adventures.
Sigh... taking the time to observe my surroundings, I saw Pikachu sleeping contentedly by my side, causing me to smile. Pikachu's eyes opened as he cried out a yawn, "Pi… Chu… Pika…"
Barking out, sitting down with his tail twirling happily, I place an arm forward, holding my open palm, wanting to shake Pikachu's paw in a kind tone, "Nice to finally meet you, Pikachu. I'm Azure Sky, your new Trainer for the future. I'm pleased to have you as my partner."
Pikachu placed his paw on my hand, agreeing to meet me, as I couldn't help but hold in my squeal at how cute this was. I managed to finally meet Pikachu and have him out in the open, running around and observing the new area.
I began to cook something up for him, following the instructions I got from the Arc Phone to feed the Electric Types. I took out a container that had the Electric Type emblem on it, along with a bowl for Pikachu to eat first, opening and revealing something like kibble, with him sniffing the air.
The food was from my emergency food supplies that the Guild Master left for me. Sniffing around and seeing the bowl, he immediately smiled, going towards the bowl and beginning to eat it down.
I pet his head as I couldn't help myself, and he seemed to enjoy the petting on his head. I enjoyed myself; I began to talk to Pikachu as he listened to my words of what to do in a calm tone, "Alright, Pikachu, for the next week, we're going to start your training. To become a Trainer, we need to pass the Trainer License Test to become fully fledged Pokémon Trainers."
He nodded at this as I took the time to do a bit of research in the world of Pokémon on how to become a licensed trainer here in this world. Not much different from the Anime version in how its process is processed.
To be an official Pokémon trainer, one must have a Trainer License to be able to participate in Pokémon battles and buy Poké Balls in the regions. Some info on the wiki says people take time or years learning all they can in popular schools about Pokémon to get their license.
However, there is a faster method for those who have great potential to become trainers. The potential Trainers are required to attend a half-day training session before qualifying to take a brief test. Those who pass the examination receive the license.
Only licensed Trainers are legally allowed to purchase Poké Balls. Hence, the only way to get a trainer license is to go to the Pokémon Center or obtain one by taking the Gym Leader test.
I can safely describe myself as an orphan who travels from place to place and never knew my parents, as my backstory, as there isn't a way for them to discover me anyway, considering I'm literally out of this world.
And if anyone says where I'm from, I can say that I'm an orphan. And if anybody asks about my home or parents, then I'm an orphan who got through odd jobs, finally paying enough to start my journey with a lack of general education.
Full of lies and sappy bullshit. But people would pity me and ask no further questions. The best way to make people give me sympathy is to not ask where I came from and not to be checked for my background later in the future.
But for this to work, I need to study up on the Pokémon Test about the Kanto Region to a degree, which involves participating in a Pokémon Battle, training your own Pokémon against fellow participants.
Hence, the reason why I wanted to train Pikachu for the next 5 days is for him to be battle-ready, along with the fact that I need to be prepared for anything coming our way, along with using the TMs for him to be ready.
TMs here worked the same, using it on a Pokémon so long as they are inside their Poke Ball. Place the Poke Ball inside the middle of the open hole for the TMs, and it will activate on its own to know about the move but will need time to get adjusted to them to be battle-ready.
Plus, the Pokémon around here are completely different than what I could expect in the normal routes like how Red and Blue managed to encounter a fucking Kangaskhan in Viridian Forest of all things.
But that's mostly because Giovanni wants to create a Pokémon army using genetically modified Pokémon to the best of their abilities. From what I seem to recall in the manga, maybe I can find my luck finding a good one.
With those thoughts in my head for the time being, it was time to see the actual Pokémon world of this place, route to have my Pikachu grind a few levels to get a better understanding of this world, and train in the process.
Let's see what the [Observe] function says about this town. [Observe].
[Location: Viridian City
Description: It is A beautiful city that is enveloped in green year-round. A nature-loving city where flowers bloom all year round. Viridian City is a small city located in western Kanto. It is home to the Viridian Gym, which can only be challenged by the player once they have obtained the Badges of the seven other Gyms of Kanto. In the Kanto-based games, the Gym Leader is Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket and a Ground-type expert.]
It makes sense that Giovanni would still be around. With this, I opened the map on my Arc Phone to see the geography of this town.
Viridian City is a small city with an average population and three exits. To the north is Route 2, divided into two by Viridian Forest and leading to Pewter City.
To the south is Route 1, leading to Pallet Town. To the west is Route 22, leading to the Pokémon League Reception Gate. Within Viridian City, other than the Gym, there is the Poke Mart and Center – Ah!
My eyes widened when I saw a Pokémon Academy within Viridian City. I did recall there was one in the early games. A building in the center of Viridian City is dedicated to teaching the basics of Pokémon to inexperienced Trainers.
If my memory serves me right, a Pokémon Academy is a school where students and Trainers can learn more about Pokémon. Most beginning Trainers visit at least one of them, and common Trainers who study extensively at these locations are Lasses, School Kids, and Scientists.
I might get some important info revolving around there. Probably a good place to consider learning all I can about this world.

[Kanto Region, Viridian City – Pokémon Center]
After having fed Pikachu, I began to leave the hotel, heading straight to the Pokémon Center to have him checked. I wanna make sure he's perfectly fine before making any plans for our future.
I have till a week from now to start training Pikachu, as a week is enough for me to get my Trainer License. To become a Trainer, we need to pass the Trainer License Test to become a fully-fledged Pokémon Trainer without getting poor.
Not only that, but choosing moves is vital in this world. An example is a Pokémon that's Lv.10 or below and can only recall five moves.
But by every Lv. 10, they can have five more moves to be trained to remember or forget a move to replace a move. TMs can also take up one slot of moves a Pokémon can learn. The only exceptions are Egg Moves (EM) or Inherited Moves (IM).
With those thoughts in my head for the time being, I finally arrived at the Pokémon Center. I couldn't help but be amazed seeing a different variety of Pokémon inside the building as their Trainers care for and speak with their Pokémon.
Moving to the center staff, I saw it was Nurse Joy with the iconic pink hair and nurse get-up she's known for. Appearing at the front desk, she asked nicely, greeting me, "Welcome to the Viridian Pokémon Center! What can I do for you today, sir?"
Smiling, I revealed my Poke Ball containing Pikachu as I explained respectfully to her, "Hello, Nurse Joy. I'm here to get my Pokémon checked up. You see, I've wanted an expert to check on his health."
Her expression shifted slightly with a light smile holding my Poke Ball as she explained to me happily, "Why, of course! We'll check on his health. It'll only take a few minutes. Just please wait till we're ready."
Taking my Poke Ball, she went to the back as I took the chance to sit down in the Pokémon Center, sighing a breath of relief. Leaning back in my seat, I was trying to relax till a certain someone's voice spoke to me, "Oh? Fancy seeing you here, mister? Thought you could miss little old me, huh?"
Confused, I turned my head to see – oh, you got to be kidding me. I saw Green in front of me with a cheeky grin as I responded bluntly, "Oh great, it's you."
