Chapter 2:
There was no light.
No sound.
No feeling.
Reiji existed… and yet, he didn't.
It was like dreaming without a dream. A state of awareness without thought, floating through nothingness. No body. No voice. Just presence. Like a whisper in a space too vast to comprehend.
This... must be death.
The realization came not with fear, but curiosity.
So this is what comes after?
He expected peace. Maybe judgment. Or even nothing at all. But this… this was something else. This wasn't heaven. It wasn't hell.
It was infinite.
And it was waiting.
"You're not afraid."
The voice came from everywhere. Deep, layered, and unfathomably vast. Not male or female, not loud or soft—it simply was.
Reiji's consciousness pulsed in response.
"I don't know if I can feel fear here," he thought—though he wasn't sure how thoughts even worked in this space.
"Most mortals scream when they arrive here. They cry, bargain, break. But not you. You float, calm… curious. Like a star in the void."
A shimmer of light flared in the distance—soft at first, then vast and radiant. Within it was a form that defied logic. Shifting, warping, ever-changing.
It was as if the universe itself had chosen to speak.
"You died saving a life. A simple act, by human standards. But rare… and beautiful. Selflessness, even in the face of oblivion."
Reiji remained silent, waiting. Listening.
"That purity… that spark… is why I noticed you. Why I pulled you here, into the Absolute Void."
"Who… are you?" Reiji asked, or maybe thought. Words no longer mattered.
"A presence. A will. I am that which watches over the multiverse—above gods, beyond stories. I do not usually interfere. But sometimes, I choose. And this time… I choose you."
The light pulsed again.
"Tell me, Reiji Hoshizora. If you could live again—not as you were, but as something greater—what would you do?"
Reiji's thoughts stirred. His dreams, once fantasy, felt close again.
"I'd travel worlds. Seek power. Adventure. Love. Meaning. I'd explore everything fiction offered—and reshape it."
He paused, then added, "I'd become something more. Maybe even… the ruler of the Omniverse."
There was silence.
Then—laughter. Deep, amused, cosmic.
"Ambitious. But not foolish. You understand power. But more importantly… you understand restraint. And humanity."
The light shimmered and expanded.
"Very well. I shall give you what you seek."
"Your soul will be reborn into a world of heroes—one you know well. A place where your journey can begin."
"And to match your path… I bestow upon you an ability beyond comprehension: Absolute Superpower Manipulation."
Reiji felt something stir within him—an echo of infinite potential. He could feel the shape of every power, every ability. He could touch possibility itself.
But the voice continued:
"This power is yours, but you must choose how to wield it. For if you burn too brightly too soon… you will alter fate itself."
Reiji understood.
"I'll disguise it. Hide it under something… mystical. Supernatural."
"A wise choice."
"Then go, Reiji Hoshizora. Begin your journey. Make your mark upon creation."
Light enveloped him. His awareness stretched, then contracted, pulled into a tunnel of warmth and light.
His last thought before reincarnation:
My Hero Academia… here I come.
