Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - wish of the world

To those who seek the warmth of the god, one of the places they can latch onto is the Sanctuary of the Sun God. Located between the two peaks of the Windfall Mountains, the first rays of light from the sun after the dark night illuminate this place.

But on this certain day, the air of the sanctuary was polluted with the rotten smell of blood, and the desperate cries and screams resounded through the walls of the sanctuary.

"Zythra, why... Son, why are you betraying us?"

In the sanctuary's main hall, the bishops lay on the floor with grave injuries. One man stood among them, piercing a spear through a cardinal's chest, pinning him to the wall.

The man had disheveled hair, a muscular body, and a fair face.

"There was never a loyalty between us."

"Ugh."

With Zythra pulling back his spear, the cardinal took his final breath.

While the cries of agony continued to resound from outside the main hall, Zythra wiped the blood from the spear.

Through the large door of the hall, a few men came running, bringing a large metallic box.

"Leader, we found it."

After placing the box in front of Zythra, they took a step back, and Zythra moved his hand across the lid of the box.

Clank!

With a slight push, the lid fell to the side, revealing a ravishing longsword.

"Sunclips, the world has forgotten your glory." The man held the sword in his hand and lifted it to the sky.

A brilliant light erupted from the sword, slowly descending to the man and covering him completely.

After a moment of brilliance, the light slowly ceased, but the Sunclips had its own shine, constantly gleaming.

Holding the sword in his hand, Zythra gazed into the box to see two pieces of a broken part of a scroll.

"Words of the world, finally! Eleven more pieces and you'll be complete."

"Leader, forces from the Holy Sanctuary are heading this way. What should we do?"

A knight in Sun Sanctuary armor came running.

"Let them come. I hide no more."

Through the mountain came a platoon of knights, raising the dust like a herd of bulls.

"Are you the sinners who caused this destruction?"

The holy knight leading them gazed at the small group of people standing at the foot of the Sun Sanctuary. Then he noticed the Sunclips sword in one of their hands.

"The sword of the Sun... How did you come into possession of this? Wait, you... you're the commanding knight of the Sun Sanctuary?"

Recognizing who the man was, the holy knight drew his sword.

"I was, but not anymore."

"Hand back the Sun sword!" From the moment the holy knight saw the sword, his gaze never left it.

"This sword should be in possession of someone worthy. Do you dare to challenge me for it?"

As a response, the holy knight pointed his sword at Zythra as he got down from the horse. "Worth should be proven by action, not with words."

Holding the Sunclips in his hand, Zythra jumped down to the ground from the sanctuary stairs. In his hand, the Sunclips glowed like an urging beast. On the other hand, the knight from the Holy Sanctuary's sword also glowed in the holy light.

"You all are sinners, but I should honor the name of the Sunclips. With that same honor, I will punish those sinners afterward."

Zythra and the holy knight swung their swords at each other and clashed. At first, the holy knight showcased his skills and held a high position, but as the moments went by, Zythra began to dominate the battle.

Ugh!

At once, with a kick to his chest, the holy knight got pushed back several feet and fell to the ground, his holy sword loosening from his hand.

"You... You're a champion, how... How is that possible?"

"Let's stop playing, show me your real worth, Sunclips."

Looking at the holy knight and the knights from the Holy Sanctuary, Zythra swung his sword. With every inch it moved, the air began to intensify.

It all happened in an instant. First, the air heated, then the bodies of all there were. The holy knight felt their sweat begin to evaporate. And the next moment, everything evaporated to dust, like a drop of water. Whether it was human, horses, swords, trees, or even the rocks, everything turned to disappearing dust.

Zythra gazed at the extinct landscape.

"You... What... is your purpose? The continent is at peace. Why seek chaos?"

The last remaining individual, the holy knight that fought Zythra, looked at him in despair with his heavily injured body.

"It's called inevitability. Chose never disappear. They hide in the dark waiting... And now you see its awakening."

Zythra pointed the tip of Sunclips to the holy knight's neck.

"If you wish to live, tell me: Do you know anything about the Word of the World? Or where I can find its remaining pieces?"

. . . . . . . .

Looking at the piece of the scroll on the remains of the weeping knight, Mordred is stunned.

"You fooled me, Mordred. I thought we trusted each other."

Knight Remiar shows his distress. The fact that Mordred hid information made his nonexistent heart ache.

But Mordred's silence bothered him even more.

"Mordred... Is something wrong?"

Arriving closer to him, Knight Remiar saw the piece of the scroll.

"Impossible... This is not supposed to be here."

Mordred broke the silence.

"What is it?"

Knight Remiar is clueless about the piece of the scroll.

"The word of the world, the one that began it all."

In the lore of Destiny Quest, there exists an ancient item named the Word of the World. It's a scroll that contains the chant for the spell "Wish of the World," a spell that requests a wish from the world.

Using the item, the first Holy Maiden asked for a guardian for the peace and justice from the world. Thus, the story of the player began, depending on whatever hero character they chose. But at that time, when the wish was granted, there was no major threat. The Great God War had already happened, and it was time for all to calm down.

The world treats everything as equal and reasonable to everyone and everything. When the wish for the guardian was granted, the world created something for him to guard: the living beings and the total existence. And the one whom he guarded from, the main antagonist of the game, Null, the Totality Eraser.

That's how the game lore begins. But there had never been any item like this while the player was playing the main quest.

"If the fragment of the Word of the World is here, that means... It's totally possible that those things exist... The item that breaks the balance of the game, the item that could only be acquired by participating in player-specific events. The item that outranks all... The Transcendent Rank Item."

"Mordred," Knight Remiar placed his hand on Mordred's shoulder, which distracted Mordred.

Grabbing the piece of the scroll, he stored it in his inventory.

"Well... I trust you now."

Mordred calmed his mind. If the transcendent item really exists in this world, he needs to gather them before they break the balance of the world.

"Send the shadow knights to search if there is anything valuable in the dungeon."

With Mordred's words, the two shadow assassins left, and after an hour of searching, they came back with a giant egg in their hands.

"A dead egg... Could this thing be related to the mythical beast in the tales?"

Holding the egg in his hands, Mordred used the appraisal, and after a moment, the result appeared.

Item name: Deadegg

Grade: Rare

Description: Dead offspring of Youguth, the mythical beast. It is possible to create strengthening and vitality-boosting potions from the remaining yolk.

Current owner: None.

"Create potions? This is new kind of information."

After reading the description, Mordred put the egg in his inventory.

"Let's poke the sleeping devil."

After giving instructions to Knight Remiar, Mordred climbed up the wall with the help of the two assassins.

Knight Remiar, who was left alone, stood in front of the seal and waited until Mordred's order.

"Time is right, Remiar."

With those words, Remiar swung his sword and thrust it directly at the manhole in the ground.

Creek!

An ear-piercing sound came as soon as the seal broke, and a gust of dark wind rushed at Remiar.

On the outside, Mordred recalled the summoning, and Remiar disappeared in an instant before the dark smoke swallowed him.

Whhhh!

But a gloomy and creepy sound kept coming from inside the wall.

"Success, enjoy the feast, you holy bitch."

Urging the horse, Mordred rode away quickly.

But before he even ran past ten feet, in front of him stood an abnormally tall woman.

"A ghost? Can't be, as soon as I opened the seal... Must be a demon."

"Are you perhaps lost?" he asked.

The woman lifted her head and looked at Mordred, but it took a while for both of her pupils to focus on him.

"You... Freed us. What is that... you desire?"

Her voice is shallow and thin, like the voice of a tiny bird, but Mordred heard it clearly.

"I desire nothing but your freedom..."

"Lies. There's never an effort without reward. Say the purpose, and we shall fulfill it according to the contract."

There's a contract. Seems like I'm here before someone else who was originally supposed to unseal them after being bound by a contract. But that event should happen much later in the game. If I waited that long, that woman would pull me out like a fish from the dark.

"Hmm... Do you possess a sense concealment gem?"

".... We do not, but if you want to conceal yourself..."

Suddenly, the woman moved like a shadow and appeared in front of Mordred. Without stopping, she entered Mordred's body, and a dark shine appeared around him before dispersing.

"I can conceal you with my ability."

Mordred looked at his hand, which was a bit dark in color, but he felt no pain or discomfort.

"Doesn't that mean you have to be with me all the time? I can't drag a dark being with me. In the first place, I want to avoid being caught with demons."

".... If I can conceal you, I can definitely conceal myself from being caught as a dark being."

"...."

Since she made herself at home, and concealment is something I had been searching for, After all why shouldn't I accept this?

"Ahem... Welcome to the team then... Hyah!"

With his urge, the horse moved again. The dark smoke rose out from the wall and spread across the whole forest as they left. That day, the whole forest fell into silence, wolves did not go out for Hunt, and birds flew away abandoning their homes.
