Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Shadows Beyond the Rift

Silence lingered after the fight, tension woven into every breath.

The others still stood in shock, but Ren wasn't looking at them anymore. He was staring at the sky.

Not the blue above—but the cracks only he could see.

Hairline fractures in reality.

Faint… yet growing.

His pupils narrowed.

'Tch. Already?'

A small smile curled his lips—but there was no amusement in it this time.

Just wariness.

Just preparation.

"Time to move."

Rias blinked. "What? Ren, we just—"

"Stay here," he said, already turning. "And if you see anything with eyes that shouldn't exist… don't look back."

The sky groaned above them.

Clouds twisting, spiraling—no longer obeying the laws of weather, but something far more ancient.

Azazel's expression turned grim. "He's right. That energy… it's not demonic, angelic, or dragonic. It's something we shouldn't even be near."

"Where are you going?" Akeno called after Ren.

He paused.

"…Away."

And in the next moment, he vanished—space warping and folding around him like paper.

—Elsewhere

Ren appeared in a quiet forest near a dead leyline—no power, no gods, no systems watching.

Just silence.

Just the stillness of an abandoned land.

He exhaled.

"Looks like I've stirred a hornet's nest."

He reached into his coat and pulled out a thin pendant—a dull charm that flickered once every few seconds.

The system had forged it on the fly.

A suppressor.

Temporary, but useful.

[Suppressor Status: 42% Effective – Temporarily lowering cosmic presence leakage]

Ren leaned against a tree, eyes toward the dusk sky.

"This world's going to break if I stay too long."

The mask was cracking—not just on enemies, but on reality itself.

He could feel it.

Being here, existing here… was dangerous now.

But that meant something else, too.

That the game had truly begun.

"Hah…" Ren laughed quietly, reading the lines. "So I'm not the only one, huh?"

He tapped the system window, replying silently with a flick of his mind.

Let's see who else is walking through borrowed worlds.
