Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Little Loli Next Door, Scientific Research Maniac Trait

Hearing Eva's words, Axel instinctively responded, "Okay, coming!"

As for going to the neighbor's house to eat, Axel didn't resist at all.

He had long gotten used to it, just like his own home.

The only difference now was that he had a Pokémon by his side.

Axel turned to look at Pheromosa.

"Aunt Stacy's cooking is pretty good. Do you want to come along?"

"Yoo~", Pheromosa shook her head. As a Pokémon with a cleanliness obsession, she didn't like contact with anyone other than Axel.

Compared to the dirty outside world, she preferred to stay in the comfortable and clean Pokéball.

"Then go back for now," Axel rubbed her head a few times and gently touched her skin with the Pokéball.

A flash of red light passed, and Pheromosa disappeared into the Pokéball.

Too bad… Pheromosa seemed a bit aloof and couldn't be kept by his side all the time.

Otherwise, Axel actually really wanted to pet her a few more times while she was still small.

After all...

Right now, Pheromosa was only about 1.6 meters tall, considered a golden height.

Once she passed the juvenile stage, her height would reach 1.8 meters.

By then, standing beside Pheromosa would feel very intimidating.

"Brother Axel, why haven't you come out yet? Don't tell me you're doing something weird again?"

"Ahem, what nonsense are you talking about," Axel swung open the door, pulled the little loli at the doorway into the room, and tightly covered her mouth.

Eva was under 1.6 meters tall, probably around 1.58 meters.

On a loli face sat a thick black bob haircut, and her big eyes looked like they could glow.

If you didn't know her, it was hard to tell she was already 18, at most looked about fifteen or so.

Every time Axel took her out, many people thought they were siblings with a big age gap…

But what they didn't know was, underneath this cute loli appearance, was a surprisingly mature little brain.

When they were around six, they bathed together, and the precocious Axel accidentally stood up.

Later… Axel realized he wasn't the only precocious one in this world.

He was teased for twelve full years.

After that, Axel never bathed with the little loli again.

Too embarrassing.

"Wuwuwua!", The little loli bit Axel's hand, let out a cute hum, and gave a victorious look.

Axel completely admitted defeat.

"Go go go, let's eat, your mom's still waiting."

"Your mom!"

Axel: "..."

This little loli, taking advantage of me again.

While the little loli walked ahead, Axel's gaze fell on Eva's back.

Two traits quietly appeared.

[Loli Body, Mature Heart (Blue): As a little loli, she has a natural attraction to powerful Pokémon.]

This didn't surprise Axel. Every time the little loli went out, she'd always get help from Pokémon like Machamp and Conkeldurr.

One time they were playing in the park and got attacked by a group of wild Spearow, they thought injury was unavoidable.

But unexpectedly, the wild Spearow got beaten down repeatedly by their own flock leader.

The reason was: they couldn't let anyone bully the flowers of the motherland.

It… was hard to believe that was a ferocious Fearow.

But the other trait did surprise Axel a little.

[Scientific Research Maniac (Purple): Extremely curious about unfamiliar things and maintains a thirst for knowledge.]

'That unreliable demeanor of the little loli, what does it have to do with this trait?'

Today's meal wasn't fancy. Simple noodles with sausage, plus two poached eggs each.

Almost every time there was a major exam, Aunt Stacy would make the same meal for them.

She said it would help them perform better...

Whether it worked or not, Axel didn't know. After all, there were real gods in this world.

Soon, Axel and the little loli finished eating, and Aunt Stacy drove the two of them in her old Toyota Crown.

Probably because it was Pokémon Distribution Day, once near the Pokémon Center, the streets were packed with cars.

Although this was a Pokémon world, many families still chose to buy a car for commuting.

The reason was simple, kids under eighteen weren't allowed to use Pokémon alone, let alone own them.

Even if the family had a Dodrio suitable for riding, no parent would squeeze onto the same Pokémon with their kid, right?

So, if the family didn't have a large rideable Pokémon, buying a car was the best choice.

Of course, the traffic congestion on the road was easy to manage.

A traffic officer riding a Pidgeot swooped through the sky, hovering precisely beside large Pokémon on the road.

"You riding the Copperajah, put away your Pokémon immediately. Our colleague will take you to your destination for free."

"And that Onix over there, don't you see the traffic jam? Use the underground tunnel now, come up again after three kilometers."

While the officer cleared traffic, Aunt Stacy turned her head back to look at her daughter and Axel, and gave one more reminder:

"You two must remember. When choosing Pokémon, try to go for grass-type or bug-type."

"Grass-types are easier to raise, can synthesize nutrients from sunlight. With the same resources, you can raise stronger Pokémon."

"As for bug-types, they evolve fast, and by the time you catch your second Pokémon, it can already be stronger."

"Of course, the most important thing is the potential. If you sense a high-potential Pokémon, don't hesitate."

"Okay okay~ My ears are getting calluses. Mom, I beg you, please stop talking."

"If you say another word, I'm signing you up for a role as a wondering Monk in a drama troupe!"

Axel, on the other hand, took Aunt Stacy's words seriously, "Thank you, Auntie. If I find a suitable Pokémon, I'll definitely prioritize grass and bug types."

Hearing that, Aunt Stacy showed a slight smile.

"See how sensible Axel is? Now look at you, you little brat."

"If Axel weren't also picking up a Pokémon today, I would've made you walk there."

"Ahh! Rotten Axel, you actually backstabbed me!", Eva let out a roar, pounced on Axel, and bit his shoulder.

Seeing the two in the back seat, Aunt Stacy's mouth lifted in a slight smile.

Twenty years ago, she and her husband came to this city, and it was thanks to Axel's parents that they were able to settle down.

That's why, after Axel's parents went missing, their family took over caring for him.

In fact, Axel was easier to care for than she imagined.

Warm-hearted, not rebellious. Putting blood relations aside, he was more likable than her own daughter.

In her heart, she had long treated Axel as her own son.

["Current reminder: You have entered the Pokémon Center area. Please park your vehicle and enter the Breeding House on foot."]

Accompanied by a pleasant voice, they had arrived at the Pokémon Center.
