The capital of the Land of Fire, or Shihon to the average person, is a huge city by the standards Touki has seen during his life in this world, with a population close to a million inhabitants, it represents a gigantic center of power for the nation, so the influence they have in Konoha is understandable.
While the capital lacks the military might of Konoha's ninja army, it does possess economic and political power capable of completely destabilizing the hidden village. Ultimately, it's the common people who finance almost the entire Konoha budget through the countless missions assigned to the shinobi. This represents a great power of coercion that the Daimyo can use to bring the Hokage into line.
The samurai are another factor that reflects the power the capital has over the rest of the nation. While these warriors are found throughout the world, it is in the capitals where the strongest individuals are found. Warriors capable of easily confronting most of the ninjas from the main villages, being in a category equivalent to jounins or even elite jounins. But above all, the samurai as a whole are an extremely numerous group compared to the ninjas.
Touki doesn't really know the true state of the relationship between Samurai and ninjas, but the fact that the former are in charge of protecting the Daimyos reveals that they are truly capable of opposing the ninjas if necessary. If one had to put a significant difference between the two, it is that samurai lack the capacity for mass destruction that the strongest shinobi in the world have, let alone the Jinchuriki. So in the end it all comes down to firepower, because while there are rumors of samurai capable enough to go toe to toe against the strongest shinobi, they will never be able to prevent the destruction that the latter can cause, much less catch them, mainly due to the almost magical ability they have to move, teleport or even summon themselves in reverse.
Touki's first impression upon arriving in the capital was one of nostalgia. The city is at a much higher level of technological development than the other places he's seen, with architecture similar to Konoha's, but with greater use of technology. Massive streetlights, illuminated signs at night, intensive use of radio signals, and even the presence of televisions and telephones, albeit very rare and expensive. The only thing missing for it to resemble a modern city are cars and other modes of transportation, which is explained by the fact that they don't need them or perhaps they haven't discovered internal combustion yet, although Touki has several ideas on how to exploit that.
The first thing Touki did upon arriving in the city was find a place to live, a typical house in the humblest district, which he rented with the money he earned by selling the last pieces of jewelry he still had. Touki's plan was simple: look for a need within the city that could be solved with something from his old world, something not too complex but that could be sold to the average person. Suki, for her part, managed to get a job on her own as an assistant in a candy store, where the owner became quite attached to her.
Despite Touki's insistence that she doesn't need to work, Suki manages to convince him to let her, due to her long-held dream of having a level of self-sufficiency, at least until he completely solves his financial problems.
[Suki]
Suki's morning starts early, as many of the recipes require a considerable amount of time to prepare the different ingredients. The store is quite close to where they live, so she has no trouble getting there on time.
"Good morning, Suki-chan. Are you ready for a new day?" a middle-aged woman says as she sees Suki enter the store's kitchen. The slightly overweight woman, wearing an all-white outfit, radiates kindness and compassion to everyone who approaches her.
"Always ready Amaya-san" Suki answers, while putting on her white apron and arranging her now long hair in a simple ponytail.
Despite her disability, Suki is now able to move safely and fluidly within familiar environments, with almost no trouble identifying the presence of people nearby and only minor issues finding misplaced objects. Chakra training has worked wonders for the girl's senses, amplifying her hearing to extreme levels and even granting her a kind of awareness of living beings and danger. Furthermore, courtesy of Touki, she never goes anywhere without her custom-made protective jacket, which can only be worn by her, and which is capable of protecting her from most common hazards.
"Today we have an order for strawberry tarts for a noble family, so I need you to help me with the dough first" Amaya says, while preparing the flour and the other ingredients.
Suki has no problem preparing the dough; her hands move with speed and dexterity, almost as if she's been dedicated to this industry her entire life. The work is hard, and sweat accumulates on the girl's forehead, but her body seems like a machine with boundless energy, doing most of the heavy lifting.
"I'll never understand how you're able to do so much with such a small body, Suki-chan" Amaya comments, once the preliminary work is done.
Suki, already accustomed to not attracting attention or talking much about her training, simply smiles, saying, "I'm used to washing and doing housework, it's good exercise"
"Your brother doesn't seem like the type to abuse his beloved sister, forcing her to work even though she's blind" Ayame comments, in a somewhat reproachful tone, although with a grimace on her face.
The girl's face panicked, accidentally getting flour all over her face. "No, no, no, not at all. He didn't even want me to work" she tries to defend Touki, who is pretending to be her brother for now so as not to attract awkward questions.
The woman begins to laugh at the girl's act, causing the latter to blush in embarrassment.
"I'm pulling your leg, Suki-chan. I know Touki-san is a good brother. Few can raise a troubled family member so well. Look at you, you're more functional than many people I know, and you even work harder than my last assistant"
Suki can't help but smile at the woman's words. She knows what Touki is capable of, but from her perspective, there's no one else she'd like to be with more than him.
The work lasts until noon, during which time Suki thoroughly enjoys Amaya's company, the work, the conversation, and the sweets—everything is perfect for her. Once at her house, she is welcomed by Touki for lunch, where they discuss the day.
"...Then Ayame san said to the man, "If you don't like it, why do you come here every day?" I've never heard her so angry. That man was looking for trouble" Suki says, while eating her noodles with gusto, and despite the seriousness with which she tells her story, she can't help but smile from time to time.
Touki maintains his serious attitude, although Suki manages to get a few grimaces out of him with her simple stories.
"Master? How much longer are we going to be here?" The girl asks with a serious tone.
"If all goes well, my invention will be ready in a month. I already have a potential partner interested, so our financial problems should be solved by then" Touki comments.
"Can you really make a device capable of rivaling a horse?"
"It's never really going to surpass a horse's versatility, though it should more than surpass its downhill speed. But it's certainly a huge benefit for people in cities. I'm surprised no one has thought of it until now, though the tire problem has been the biggest of all. Thank goodness rubber is available"
"It's because master is a genius" Says the girl proudly.
"I don't think I can consider myself a genius, maybe an opportunist. What I have not yet considered is the effect that my invention will have on shinobis, samurais and other Chakra practitioners. I don't even want to imagine the speeds they will be capable of achieving. The only limitation is going to be the resistance of the materials and the roads"
Suki's limited imagination can only speculate what Touki is referring to.
