Lady in Red
A Story by Zeepha Tells
Episode 1
I never miss a shot....but today something felt off. In the middle of a busy street, my eyes locked on her.
She was in red-like dripping paint, like danger-but there was no face, just... emptiness. I blinked. She was gone. My name is Zeepha, and my life was never the same after that moment.
Every 22nd of March, she appears.
This is how it all began...
Episode 2
Zeepha begins her search for the mystery story about the woman in red. Why does she keep appearing every 22nd of March-a unique day in her life?
22nd March is Zeepha's birthday.
Since Zeepha turned 16, she kept seeing this lady in red appearing to her-without a face.
At first Zeepha thought it was just a hallucination from her childhood traumatic accident she had when she was just 8. But ever since she turned 16, it became less of a dream and more like a haunt game.
She could recall how the accident took place. She remembered how a lady in red came crashing into their windscreen during an unending raging arguement between her parent.
She also recalled the fear that gripped her before she fell unconscious.
The lady in red had her eyes popped open and blood gushing through her nostrils and mouth as she gasped for breath-till she passed.
This picture had never left Zeepha's head and had traumatized her for years.
Now, she had successfully placed a CCTV camera on her own street just to get hold of the face behind the woman who keeps appearing to her without a face...
Episode 3
As Zeepha slipped the chip from the CCTV footage into her mini laptop, she heard footsteps behind her and turned quickly as fear gripped her.
She was all alone in the mansion her late Dad had left, so she knew no one was in that house except her.
She quickly brought out her phone to call Faruk-her boyfriend, who she had earlier broken up with all because of her scary attitude and quest to finding the lady in red.
Faruk is a light-skinned handsome guy in his early thirties. He is every woman's dream, but Zeepha dashed his hopes away when she revealed her quest.
The two met when Faruk moved into Talhala Estate, in the northern part of Zion country. They got talking when they first met at the Talhala fishing festival. Their eyes caught each other, heartbeats met-and their love story began.
Little did Faruk know he was dating a weirdo and a psychopath. Yes! Those were the words he called her when she revealed that she was going back to her late father's house to dig more abou the woman in red.
According to Zeepha, the mansion was the genesis of the woman in red-and she believed the mansion had a lot to reveal about it.
Faruk warned her about how dangerous it was going back to the mansion, as it had been locked up by the police for 8 years due to the tragic incident that occurred on 22nd March 2004.
A day that left Zeepha devastated for life-as she watched her mother slaughter her 4 siblings and her dad shoot her mom in self-defense after she stabbed him multiple times.
This tragic incident left many wondering what had gotten into Zalima-Zeepha's mother-as she was known for being a peaceful woman with no record of any psychological or brain issues.
The only survivor of that incident was poor Zeepha, who was adopted by her grandmother, Inno Hadiza.
After Inno's death, Zeepha vowed to get to the root of her constant dream as she kept seeing the lady in red living in the mansion.
Something told her the woman in red played a role in the killing of her siblings and dad-and not her dad.
Zeepha was indeed determined to unfold this mystery.
Episode 4
As Zeepha reached out for her phone to call Faruk, she noticed the brightness in the sky dimming...It was just 6 p.m., and everywhere was turning too dark.
Is it going to rain? Hell no, she screamed-this isn't the season for rain.
The clouds rumbled. Thunderstorm.
The lamp in her room went off, and a scary image kept appearing and disappearing in the dark.
Her phone slipped from her hand, and she trembled on the ground in search of it.
Her hands reached out to an old, dusty torchlight beneath the wooden bed she sat on. She quickly grabbed it with so much relief-but felt a hand rubbing hers.
As she tried standing up from the ground, she felt an image before her. She screamed in fear as she asked, "Who are you and what do you want?"
There was sudden silence in the room-and then came a wicked voice.
"I am that I am. I am the one you shouldn't find. I am your past, your future, and your end."
Zeepha let out a heavy cry as she screamed at the top of her voice. "Why??? Why are you doing this and What have I done? Stop this, please. How can I stop???" yelled the woman in red. "You wanted to see my face, right?? Hahahahaha! You are the last seed of Shelhab and you must tell my story."
"What story?" screamed Zeepha. "What do you want?"
"I had followed and watched you grow into a woman-and I believe I can rest only if you tell the world what took me."
It dawned on Zeepha that the woman in red was actually the pregnant woman who clashed into their windshield during the accident that happened 11 years back.
Zeepha recalled the incident again and remembered how her mom and dad had moved the body of the woman into a nearby bush.
She recalled seeing flames from the bush but never truly knew what they did with the body.
She remembered asking her dad-A'bba, as she fondly calls him-for them to call the police. It suddenly dawned on her that they never did-and they burnt her body to clear all evidence or trail.
She remembered vividly that they claimed they had taken the body of the unconscious woman tothe hospital-but they never alerted the police, neither did they take her to the hospital.A bang on her head made her snap out from recalling and putting pieces of the incident together-as the lady in red hit her with a wooden stick.
She felt her body leaving her soul-and she fell unconscious...
Episode 5
Zeepha's eyes were awakened by the bright light above her.
Was she dead? she thought out loud. "Where am I?" she shivered in fear.
Her eyes were teary and her body shaking in upset fear. She could barely see the image before her-it was so bright that it almost blinded her.
"You are safe, madam," came a nurse's voice behind her.
She managed to open her eyes and saw Faruk praying beside her bed. She was in the hospital-andFaruk was her savior.
The call she made earlier had actually gone through. Poor Faruk had heard voices of distress and led a team of policemen to the mansion.
When they arrived the scene, they saw her body lying almost lifeless on the stairs.
Faruk finished his solat, headed to her, and gave her a warm embrace. He congratulated her for staying alive and gave a broad smile. You slipped and fell and sustained an injury on your head, dear. Not to worry-you will be fine soon."
"Hell no! I never fell, Faruk. The lady in red did this to me. Please believe me!" she yelled as tears
rolled down her cheeks. She reached out for his hands, but the disbelief on his face gave her away. You have to believe me, Faruk!" she yelled.
Hey honey, you need to rest," he assured her. "Everything is fine." And he headed out to call the nurse who ahd just left.
"Please don't leave me," she screamed.
A nurse walked in and gave her a sleeping injection to make her calm-and again, she slept.
But not for long.
She was awakened by her horrific dream.
She requested for her phone and called the police and her colleague at *THE NEUTRAL NEWS.*She gave her statement and requested that the disappearance case of a pregnant woman should be reopened.
She told the officer all she knew about the pregnant woman-and how all evidence were cleared by her parents.
At last she was free.
