Boom!
The violent explosion caused a faint tremor to ripple through the ground, alerting Kai and the others.
Kai: "That sounds like Uvogin!"
"He's here!!"
Perhaps due to their prolonged association, Nobunaga was particularly sensitive to Uvogin's voice.
"Let's go!"
Without any hesitation, Kai immediately sprang into action.
Machi and Nobunaga followed closely behind.
"Are you alright?" Machi asked with concern.
Kai tore the bandages from his body.
"It's not a serious issue. Let's first see what's going on with Uvogin."
Upon hearing this, Nobunaga's heart skipped a beat. He could tell that Kai's words were genuine.
The three of them, moving at full speed, quickly arrived at the scene, following the thick plume of smoke.
"You're asking for death!!"
Uvogin's roar rang out, unmistakably signaling that he was engaged in a battle.
"Call—"
Only then did Kai exhale a sigh of relief.
After learning the art of Nen, it had become relatively easy for him to deal with ordinary individuals.
However, his contact with Uvogin had been brief. He had not yet had enough time to fully apply his Nen skills. Additionally, Uvogin's body had not fully matured, and in the event of a concentrated assault from numerous thermal weapons, it would not be impossible for someone to die prematurely.
"Help!!"
Kai shouted in a low voice.
[Practice] activated with all his might, and a large amount of Qi gathered beneath his feet.
With a sudden push off the ground, his speed increased tenfold!
Bang, bang, bang!
The enemy, perhaps not expecting support, faltered for a moment before Kai tore through their ranks.
Thanks to the infusion of Qi, any opponent that came into contact with him was incapacitated or killed instantly.
Thermal weapons, when unable to be aimed effectively, were no more threatening than wooden sticks!
Five minutes later,
The battle concluded with the last enemy soldier's neck being crushed by Uvogin's hand.
"Stop chasing. You won't be able to keep up," Kai cautioned, stopping Nobunaga, who was intent on pursuing the fleeing jeep.
The recent conflict had drained a significant amount of their energy. Even if they could barely catch up, the enemy had the advantage of waiting in ambush and carrying firearms. It was uncertain who would emerge victorious.
...
Taking a moment to catch their breath, the group quickly vacated the scene. With such a loud commotion, it was only a matter of time before others arrived to take advantage of the situation.
They retreated to Machi's hut.
"Uvogin, what happened?" Kai asked, his voice heavy with concern. "Didn't you go out to adapt to the changes in your body? Why did you end up fighting those people?"
There were many individuals in Meteor Street with access to firearms, making it unwise to engage recklessly. After all, the "unspoken rule" of Meteor Street was to avoid taking lives. While survival of the fittest was advocated here, those who had risen from Meteor Street placed great importance on unity. Physical confrontations were easier to control, but the use of firearms often led to deadly consequences.
There was only one reason such a situation could be resolved: the opponents must have connections with the elders.
Uvogin: "I didn't want to fight them."
"But they tried to steal my stuff."
As he spoke, Uvogin retrieved a fist-sized sculpture from his pocket.
"I found this next to the garbage heap. When I used [Nen] to examine it, I noticed it emanated an aura."
A Nen presence?
Machi and Nobunaga were both stunned by his revelation.
They quickly activated [Condensation].
"There really is something there!"
Indeed, a faint aura surrounded the sculpture, confirming the presence of Nen. The phenomenon was beyond their previous understanding.
Seeing the confusion on their faces, Kai recalled something from his memory.
"You're lucky…" He said, a faint smile curling his lips as he took the sculpture in hand. "This is truly a rare find."
At hearing this, Uvogin grinned widely, clearly proud of his discovery.
"Idiot…"
"Who are you calling an idiot?!"
"You old, ugly bastard!!"
Nobunaga's forehead immediately flushed with irritation. No one in Meteor Street dared to call him "old and ugly"—not even Uvogin.
"Stop it! Where do you think you're going?!"
Ignoring the quarrel between the two, Kai continued: "I've told you before—if a person's will is strong enough, they can awaken [Nen] without external assistance."
"However, there's another possibility."
"Some super geniuses, when concentrating deeply in certain fields, may unconsciously use Nen."
"Of course, they remain unaware of it themselves and cannot maintain it."
Kai held up the sculpture.
"If I'm not mistaken, this should be an antique."
The mention of the word "antique" caused Machi's eyes to brighten.
While she didn't fully understand why old objects like these would be valuable, she had heard that certain individuals were willing to pay exorbitant amounts for them.
Sudden wealth had become a common occurrence in Meteor Street.
"The issue now isn't whether this is valuable," Kai said, placing the sculpture down and adopting a serious expression.
"My concern is the organization behind the people we just killed."
If they were merely connected to the Elder Council, it would be easy to handle. By demonstrating enough strength, the enemies would likely refrain from further conflict.
However, if they were indeed affiliated with the Elders, the situation would become much more complicated. In that case, powerful Nen users would likely be involved, and even Kai couldn't guarantee victory.
