The ringing of the school bell brang Soren out of his reverie. Claudia, being one of the first to stand up, didn't wait for Soren to follow her as she rapidly approached the door. Soren got up a moment later, albeit at a noticeably slower pace as compared to Claudia, and followed behind her, his stomach silently growling along the way. They quickly ate their lunch in the lunchroom, and went on with the rest of their classes in the same lifeless, boring, monotonous routine.
The final bell of the school day rang, letting out its sonorous chime across the building. The students quickly rushed to leave their classes and practically ran towards the front doors, some getting trampled within the chaotic mess. Soren, however, calmly stood by waiting with a deadpan face as the figures of the other students blurred past him. As the last couple of people exited the building, Soren finally began to move, his steps echoing off the walls due to the lack of people within the hallways now. Claudia had left school a bit early, merely telling Soren that it was a 'family emergency', but in all likelihood, she just wanted to skip the last few hours of school. Regardless, this meant that Soren was going to have to walk home by himself, which he wasn't particularly bothered by, after all, what could go wrong?
Soren strained his muscles against the push bar attached to the heavy double doors. It seemed he had gotten a little out of shape over this last year, which annoyed him a little, considering how hard he had worked himself, just to end up with mediocre results. All his life, Soren had possessed a malnourished figure, which was quite unusual, as he also had a ravenous appetite. He ate almost any and everything that was placed before him, but you would never get that impression if you saw his body. That was the very reason why he had dedicated himself to working out over the year long break, but even after all that, he still had the constitution of a humanoid twig.
He pushed the door open as much as he could -which wasn't very much- and slipped through the narrow passage. Now outside, he let himself rest for a moment in a pitiful display of his lack of strength. Whilst catching his breath momentarily, his clairvoyance notified him that something was approaching him from the right at a moderately slow speed. His instincts didn't tell him to dodge or get out of the way, so Soren simply turned his head and noticed a man a couple feet away from him. Once the man reached about 6 feet away from Soren, he abruptly stopped in his place. Soren, now more than a bit creeped out, noticed the man's striking similarity with the guy in the parking lot he had seen earlier. "...Can I help you?" Soren said in an angsty tone, his adrenaline coursing through him for some reason he couldn't understand. All of a sudden, his instincts jolted him with the undeniable urge to escape. Without a single word, or indication, the man suddenly lunged towards Soren; a savage, almost primal look adorned the man's face. Due to his clairvoyance warning him, however, Soren's torso was already twisting backwards, ready to run. His ability had given him a minor head start, but Soren didn't know if that would be enough. Soren pushes his right foot against the ground, launching himself forward into a mad sprint as soon as he is oriented correctly. The man's lunge merely catches the air, as he faceplants on the ground. This, seemingly, didn't bother the man though, as he pushed himself up with his legs alone and gave chase to Soren, which would have been quite the sight, if Soren had cared to turn around and look. Soren was too busy running for his life. The way the man didn't even use his arms to push himself off the ground was uncanny. It was as if the man wasn't particularly familiar with what his body could do… Regardless, Soren's mind was racing at what the hell to do. He was pretty certain he couldn't fight the man, his abilities weren't a combat type, and his body wasn't of much use currently. Soren gritted his teeth with resentment at his lack of power, whether that be magical or physical. 'Ah, shit!' He narrowly dodges another one of the man's attempts to grab him. 'I CAN'T THINK, SHIT!' Suddenly, Soren's mind calms by a considerable amount. It was an unusual feeling to go from complete panic, to nearly tranquil. He didn't think much about why this happened, merely tossing that thought to the back of his mind for another time, he instead focused on this moment of calmness to think about possible solutions. 'Mom should still be at work, so she isn't really an option… oh, wait, there was that police station!' Soren suddenly recalls the police station that his teacher had talked about every year that he heard the new policies the school had. 'But where the hell is it?' Soren was racking his brain for an answer, which was slowly but steadily becoming harder, as he had been running for a solid 3 minutes already. His adrenaline definitely helped with keeping him moving, but everything had a limit…Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a bright white sign some distance away. Snapping his head in that direction, he reads on the sign 'Seattle Settlement Police Department', Soren strains his muscles in a last ditch effort to get to the police department, however, right before he can cross the street in front of the building, his body is yanked back aggressively and is thrown against a lamp post. Soren clutches his chest, the wind knocked out of him, and gasps pathetically. The man approaches and looms over Soren's figure, watching him struggle to gather air into his lungs. The corners of Soren's vision were getting taken by the abyss, his mind slowly blacking out. The last thing he sees is the man bending down and grabbing him by the hair…
