Stacy's POV
Upon waking at dawn, I experienced a sudden, sharp pain in my neck. As I attempted to alleviate the discomfort by shifting positions, I realized I was in an unfamiliar environment, which promptly escalated my anxiety.
I tried to move, but my efforts were hindered by the discovery that my wrists and ankles were restrained, securing me to the chair I'm seated on.
As I took in my surroundings, a sense of unease intensified in me. No one needed to tell me where I was, or what could happen to me in a short while. All I could think of was an escape plan.
Although, I didn't know my exact location.
But I know I must have been captured by one of Kaiden Sloger's men, into his den, while I was unconscious.
As I contemplated my escape strategies, the door abruptly swung open, revealing the same gray-eyed guy who had knocked me out in my suite.
His piercing gray eyes seemed to bore into my soul, but I remained focused on surveying my surroundings for potential means of liberation.
However, my attention was diverted by the sound of his amused chuckle.
"You're wasting your time attempting to escape." He declared, his voce rigid.
"Even if you managed to free yourself, survival outside these walls would be unlikely." He added, his words laced with a subtle superiority, getting me infuriated.
I shot him a devastating glance, to which he responded with agitation. "You'd do well not to look at me like that." He warned, his tone a hint of menace.
But I stood my ground, my anger and frustration boiling over.
"Our confrontation was far from fair. You cheated by knocking me out!" I retorted aloud, getting so annoyed at how I ended up being captured by him so easily.
"You should shut the f*ck up, lady!" He yelled back, and walked right up to me.
"You are allowed to make use of the inner room, before your Judgement time." He uttered, facing me, and the next thing, he started loosing the ropes on my wrists, and then my ankles.
His action left me bewildered , but it was the the least of my concern, as I couldn't wait to get back at him.
Just when he finished setting me free, before he could rise up on his feet, I spit on his face, and instantly planned to jump on my feet.
But before I could even move an inch, I felt a sharp sting throw me back in my seat.
Never in my life have I ever felt so hurt from a mere slap. I couldn't fight back or utter a word, as my hand remained on my hurting cheek.
"Any attempt to escape will result in your swift termination. My lord instructed me to convey this warning to you, prior to releasing you from your restraints." He said to me, and at that moment, I felt my heart skip a beat at his ominous message.
His words sent a chill through me, leaving my mind racing.
At that instant, I found myself hoping for the arrival of my boss, while also acknowledging the need to cooperate to avoid fatal consequences.
Fear and vulnerability overwhelmed me, leaving me uncertain about my fate.
In a moment of dread, I posed a question to him: "Will the Mafia lord truly kill me?" My voice trembled out in fear.
"I'm unsure," he replied curtly, and with this, he departed, leaving me locked in and consumed by anxiety.
As I stood behind the locked doors, the uncertainty of my situation plagued my mind, and I couldn't help but hope that the Mafia Lord would not arrive anytime soon.
Lost in thought, I was startled by an unexpected knock at the door, the sound making me twitch in shock.
"Could it be him?" I thought in fear, my whole body tensing up.
"Can I come in?" I surprisingly heard a woman's voice chime in, the sudden realization easing my frazzled nerves a bit.
"Yes, it's not locked from inside." I muttered out, my voice barely audible.
The next thing I saw was a woman in her late 70s, approaching me with clothes in her hands.
When she got to me, she surprisingly smiled warmly to my face, and handed over the dress in her hands to me.
"You should change into this, after bathing dear. You'll be fine." She stated calmly, and displayed another warm smile.
But before I could get to say a word to her, she stepped out of the room, and also locked me in.
"Who could the woman be? Could it be I won't be beheaded? " I thought in silence, as the woman's words replayed in my head.
Judging from what she brought to me, it's more like I won't be getting beheaded soon, but I know Kaiden Sloger-he'd never spare anyone who dares cross his path, and I'm not left out.
As I pondered the old woman's words, I decided to take proactive measures and resumed searching the cramped room for a potential escape tool.
The room was a bit dark, illuminated only by a faint red glow from the bulb, with no single window.
As my gaze swept across the dimly lit space, my anxiety spiked, and just then, I spotted a door in the corner, partially concealed by the shadows. "it must the inner room." I thought.
I hastily approached it, my heart racing with anticipation.
Upon opening the door, I discovered the room to be a compact bathroom, similarly devoid of windows.
Undiscouraged, I entered, and began searching the bathroom for an object to facilitate my escape.
As my eyes scanned the cramped space, I took in the miniature sink, toilet, and shower stall. Then in a brisk, I spotted a small, rusty screwdriver lying on the floor, partly hidden by the shadows.
Instantly, I seized the tool in my hand, and ran to the door of the main room.
With careful manipulation and examination, I managed to insert the screwdriver into the lock's mechanism and twisted it.
As the lock disengaged, the door creaked open, revealing an unexpected presence on the other side-the ominous presence of the Mafia Lord himself.
As his face twisted in fury, I stood paralyzed, consumed by fear, as it dawned on me that he had been expecting my escape attempt-his presence served as a vivid reminder that my efforts had not only failed but had also been anticipated.
With escape no longer an option, I braced myself for the uncertain horrors that awaited me.
