Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Our Tang Sect Doesn’t Care About Talent, Only Fate

After enjoying the roasted whole rabbit, both Tang Ya and Bei Bei were thoroughly satisfied, savoring the aftertaste and even considering catching another Tender Bone Rabbit for a second round.

Following this, Tang Ya and Bei Bei showered Huo Yuhao with praise, complimenting the exquisite seasoning and deep flavor of the roasted Tender Bone Rabbit, claiming it was utterly irresistible.

Huo Yuhao automatically tuned out their flattery, responding with a simple "As long as you enjoyed it," before bidding them farewell and setting off alone to meet the legendary ten-year-old Wind Baboon, a creature with numerous epic titles.

Watching Huo Yuhao's retreating figure, Tang Ya remarked with a cheerful tone, "He's all alone, and he seems to have a decent foundation in Soul Power. Plus, his grilling skills are so masterful."

"He's practically the perfect chef for our Tang Sect… oops, I mean the perfect disciple."

Tang Ya accidentally let slip her true thoughts.

If she could recruit Huo Yuhao into the Tang Sect, she could enjoy grilled fish every three days and roasted Tender Bone Rabbit every five days. Tang Ya couldn't even imagine how blissful that would be, especially since Tender Bone Rabbits were highly reproductive and abundant.

Speaking of the Tender Bone Rabbit's exceptional reproductive abilities, one couldn't help but mention a certain Buddha.

Perhaps, in the future, the Buddha's once radiant Five-Colored Divine Light would be reduced to a single color, and that color would be…

Bei Bei chuckled when he heard Tang Ya accidentally mention "chef," then pondered for a moment.

"I can vaguely sense that he possesses level 10 Soul Power, but beneath his calm and reserved exterior, there seems to be a hint of ruthlessness. I'm not sure if it's just my imagination."

Tang Ya fell silent for a moment, a faint trace of sorrow flickering in her eyes, but she quickly masked it with a bright smile and waved her hand dismissively.

"It's fine, everyone has their moments of intensity. Besides, with his culinary skills, he must have gone through some hardships in his childhood, which gave him the ability to be self-reliant."

Bei Bei nodded. "True. From his earlier behavior, it's clear he's somewhat wary of us."

"We can follow him and observe for a while. From what we've seen so far, his character seems decent. Earlier, by the stream, his reserved demeanor suddenly erupted with an aura comparable to a Great Soul Master. It might be worth considering recruiting him into the Tang Sect."

He thought to himself that anyone who underestimated Huo Yuhao's seemingly meek and reserved exterior would surely regret it.

Tang Ya's eyes lit up with joy. "So, you agree?"

Bei Bei smiled wryly. "Great Tang Sect Master Miss Tang Ya, our Tang Sect is no longer the thriving force it once was."

"Before you took me as your disciple, you were the only one left in the Tang Sect. Your ambition is to rebuild the sect, and our current recruitment strategy is based on the principle of 'not caring about talent, only fate.'"

"Any decent Soul Master we attract could become a pillar of our Tang Sect."

Bei Bei had read some of the Tang Sect's records and clearly remembered.

Years ago, the Tang Sect would test the talent of potential disciples through rigorous assessments, and only the best of the best would earn the right to join the sect.

But now?

Test talent?

Sorry, we don't do that.

Rigorous assessments?

Nope, not anymore.

Anyone who joins the Tang Sect becomes a direct disciple, ranking only below the sect master and the top three members of the sect.

Bei Bei continued, "This little brother Huo Yuhao has a good temperament. From his attire, it's clear that his family background isn't very well-off. Our Tang Sect can only attract such disciples at the moment."

"When the time comes, we'll tell him that joining our Tang Sect will bring him many benefits. Not only will he be able to learn several of the Tang Sect's secret techniques directly, but he'll also have the opportunity to study at the continent's top academy, Shrek Academy."

"The benefits are endless, and I can't think of any reason why little brother Huo would refuse."

Bei Bei looked in the direction where Huo Yuhao had left, feeling that he had truly put in a lot of effort to restore the glory of the Tang Sect.

Tang Ya looked at Bei Bei with some curiosity, "I didn't expect you to be quite cunning."

Bei Bei brushed off his clothes and chuckled lightly, "It's not exactly that. After all, little brother Huo has been roasting fish and rabbits for us. Whether we can recruit him into the Tang Sect or not, we should at least protect him for a while."

Their Tang Sect wasn't pinning its hopes on any geniuses at the moment. As long as ordinary Soul Masters seized the opportunity to join, they could become outstanding disciples of the Tang Sect.

...

At this moment, Huo Yuhao, carrying his luggage, walked towards the depths of the Star Dou Great Forest.

Whether he could succeed or not depended on this wave with Tianmeng and Old Yi.

"As the saying goes, when the cart reaches the mountain, there will be a path. When Huo reaches the forest, there will be a cheat. I shouldn't have taken the wrong path."

As Huo Yuhao pondered, three options appeared before him.

[Option One: Wait here for Tang Ya and Bei Bei to arrive. Reward: A recipe for Spring Return Powder.]

[Option Two: Move to the right and face a Mandala Snake, the same kind as Tang San. Reward: A recipe for Antitoxin Pill.]

[Option Three: Move to the left and defeat a dreamer who seeks to seize the divine destiny and aspires to become the Beast God in the future—a ten-year Wind Baboon. Reward: A recipe for Foundation Establishment Elixir.]

Hmm? So considerate, even giving him navigation.

Huo Yuhao was already planning to go left. Now that the options had appeared, he might as well take advantage of the free reward. It seemed like a good deal.

The Foundation Establishment Elixir, in "Battle Through the Heavens," was a unique auxiliary cultivation elixir created by Yao Lao. Its main function was to strengthen the foundation and increase the cultivation speed of Battle Qi through medicinal baths.

Although he wasn't sure which Soul Master level corresponded to the Battle Qi realm, given his current Soul Master cultivation, it should still be somewhat useful.

Huo Yuhao chose option three and headed left.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, a wooden sign by the roadside caught Huo Yuhao's attention: "50 meters ahead, entering the dangerous outer area of the Star Dou Great Forest. High-level Soul Beasts are present. Be cautious."

Huo Yuhao wasn't sure if this so-called 'high-level' referred to the ten-year Wind Baboon.

Without further hesitation, he touched the White Tiger Dagger, ensuring that his grip was comfortable, and stepped past the wooden sign.

In the original story, Huo Yuhao, using the White Tiger Dagger, managed to fight the Wind Baboon to a draw and eventually killed it. Now that he had a basic grasp of the Eight Extremities Explosion, there was no reason the Wind Baboon wouldn't be defeated.

As Huo Yuhao walked along the path, his eyes suddenly felt a slight sting. This was the innate danger-warning ability of his Spirit Eye Soul.

Everything within his sight seemed to slow down slightly, and a faint airflow swirled around his eyes. Suddenly, a black shadow flashed past on the left side of the path ahead.

"Here it comes. The Wind Baboon is ready to dance."

That was a baboon about one meter tall, covered in brownish-yellow fur, with brown eyes, unusually long arms, sharp claws on its hands, exposed canine teeth at the mouth, and a fierce glint in its eyes.

The true "Beast God" made its appearance, with a decade of cultivation, plain and unadorned.

Huo Yuhao took off his glasses to show his respect for this beast.

Looking back at the entire original work of Douluo II, the two most powerful beings with the highest value.

One was the strongest Soul King encountered by the Chicken Leg Douluo leading the team to exterminate the Evil Soul Masters while

undercover at Shrek Academy, the Death God Envoy.

The other was the strongest ten-year Soul Beast before them, the Wind Baboon, which nearly killed Huo Yuhao.
