With the three stooges gone, Sunny was now in another predicament. Still on the ground, Sunny leaned his back against the wall and took another look at the girl who rescued him. She was roughly the same height as Sunny, but her appearance couldn't be any more different. She was beautiful, the most beautiful person Sunny's ever seen, in fact.
Her hair was not white, it was a soft silver color. Her eyes were purple, and her ears were angular. If Sunny were knowledgeable, he would recognize this trait as 'elven' in nature. But, since he was ignorant, he assumed it was some kind of birth defect.
Although could it be called a 'defect' if it made her even more attractive?
'Am I an idiot? Yea, I am.'
Sunny shook his head, thinking he may have received some brain damage after getting pummeled. Anyway, she was wearing a white dress with purple accents that complimented her eyes. There was an flower accessory in her hair, her dress was cut off around mid waist and replaced with white and purple leggings. Her shoulders were exposed but the sleeves were outrageously large, draping to near floor length. Around her neck was a large green crystal.
Sunny could not help but to stare. Not for any impure reasons, of course, but rather because he was bewildered by her attire; It was possibly the most ridiculous outfit he's ever seen. Not that he thought it looked bad, it was simply impractical—
"Enough gawking! Tell us what you know."
The flying cat snapped Sunny out of his daze. He looked away and began to stand up. His vision was still half blurry as his left eye was nearly swollen shut. Before he could start, the girl asked—
"Why did you lie?"
Surprised by the sudden question, Sunny thought for a moment before snapping back—
"Who says I lied? Do you have any idea how long one second feels in a fight?"
The girls' eyes narrowed, but her expression remained neutral. Before she could respond—
"Lia, let's just focus on what's important."
The cat glared at both of them, but mostly at Sunny; so he glared back. Sunny didn't understand what this cat was, but it felt dangerous. Like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
"I agree—"
GROOWWWWLLLLLLLL
Sunny was beet-red, and not because of the bruising. His stomach let out its loudest and longest rumble, as if it had waited all his life for this specific moment to humiliate him.
"Ignore that!"
He snapped out in an attempt to move past it. The girl let out a dainty giggle and a small smile rested on her face.
"I can't feed you, though I can heal your bruises — But, please! Tell me what you know."
'Heal me? I thought her Aspect was ice? Why would she do this? Does she want me indebted to her?'
Many thoughts were racing through his mind. But one glance at the the girls face made him doubt some of them. Her eyes radiated innocence, kindness, and care; all these emotions were foreign to him, which made him wary.
But, ultimately, Sunny did say he'd help her find the thief so he decided to cooperate. He also suspected that helping this girl would be essential in conquering the Nightmare. Not that he knew much about the Nightmare Spell. He had read some webtoons as a kid, but that was a decade ago; what Sunny lacked was a proper education.
"Alright, I'll talk while you heal me."
She nodded and stepped forward while raising her hands to his temples.
Sunny flinched and looked down—
'Bad decision!'
The angle at which they were posed left quite an impression on Sunny. The girls dress had a chest window, and she was attractive, you get the rest.
He immediately looked up and found the clouds to be very interesting all of a sudden.
'Seriously who the Spell made that dress? It's so impractical—'
Suddenly, a small cat flew into frame.
"Alright mister, start talking!"
And so, Sunny shook off the fleeting embarrassment and began to recall all the relevant details. Her hair, height, voice, clothes, speed, attitude.
The girl's healing ability worked quickly on his fresh bruises, and they separated—
"So what is it that got stolen? I have a few ideas but I need to know more about the item. Matter of fact, I need to know more about this area, I'm not familiar with this city"—…' and I can't even read this language.'
"I lost..my insignia—wait, you're lost??—actually… you don't look Lugunican, are you from Vollachia perchance?"
'Insignia…she's definitely important.'
"Vollachia? Sure."—'So this place is called Lugunica'—"Oh and by the way, what is your name?"
Sunny lied through his teeth, but he figured he could get away with pretending to be a foreign refugee. He only started considering the political ramifications of being a refugee after the fact. 'What if they're not friendly?' 'Well, it's too late to take it back now.'
The talking cat sensed his doubt and took control of the conversation.
"Where are your manners? Shouldn't a gentleman give his name first?"
Sunny's eye twitched.
"Right…how could I forget? My name is Sunless."
"Sunless—what an ominous name—and you said you're from Vollachia, yes?"
"What can I say? My mother had a poetic soul. And where is Vollachia in relation to our current location? I'm rather lost, I suppose."
"It's the country to the north of Lugunica."
'Well, I am from the Northern Quadrant so I guess it's a half truth.'
"Yea, I'm from the north."
The cat narrowed it's eyes and the girl tilted her head in confusion. Taking advantage of the moment—
"What is your name?"
The girl was shaken out of her thoughts and glances to the side in contemplation—
"My name?
I'm…
Satella."
