Julius looked at the words on the letter and he saw that the date that he was supposed to recieve the letter was yesterday, the day he slept at work and didn't come home.
This was another topic on his mind. The wardens sanctuary.
In this world, people awaken the ability to use magic and the sanctuary brings them all together and train them to fight the crawlers.
At least that's what they tell the public. The wardens are figures held highly in reverence by the rest of humanity.
Ever since the coming of the Evernight 105 years ago, the world has been falling apart. Only this singular continent managed to survive with joint forces of other continents and countries.
This was then formed into the United nations which all of humanity was currently on.
That led to another point.
If all continents joined to form one large continent, then where did the other races come from?
It turns out that this world is flat, or rather the human side is flat. And the entire world is in a cube shape. With different races living on each side of the planet.
Julius relaxed on the interior of the car and sighed as he looked at the other envelope.
His excitement towards such supernatural things were so high, he was barely staying calm.
The next envelope seemed to have a seal on it with the shape of a sword stabbing a star. The symbol of the Warden's sanctuary.
'They only send letters to those who awaken. But how do I know I'm awakened. How do they know?' the thousand deeper and he realized just how scary these people were.
No one knows they've awoken magic, the sanctuary just shows up at your doorstep and takes you away, and then some of these people's names would be heard as they defend humanity.
If they're able to know something so deep and mysterious about yourself that even you don't know, then it wouldn't be much of a chore to know other things about him.
They could literally kill any one they wanted to. And because he didn't come to the sanctuary this morning was why he was killed brutally.
He glanced at the next envelope and opened it, pulling out the next paper.
[We know you're still alive. Be at the Warden's sanctuary in two days.
~Warden's sanctuary.]
'No way, this actually made me scared.' he smirked at he looked at the message.
But why was he smiling? He didn't know, he just got up from the ground as he remembered something else.
As if waiting for cur, he heard the sounds of a church bell and he came out of his car and looked around to see various people walking to the front of the street to look up.
[You have sacrificed 1 life point.]
[Life points remaining – 3]
A sigh left his lips as he walked back into the house and laid down.
Life points in this world we're actually a means of living. On the day of the Evernight, also known as the day of partial Judgement, this curse happened.
People who wield stories and paths fight the dark creatures, the crawlers. Killing the crawlers gave them life points and through circulation, the life points became general currency.
Till date, life points have killed way more humans than the monsters have.
People call that day the 'Half of Judgement day'. Some said that it's because of how the gods hated the humans way of life, some say it's something that our ancestors created for us to go back to the old world.
Julius peeped outside how window and he spotted a woman looking up at the sun in fear. She cling to her bag as she staggered backwards.
All of a sudden, a straight beam of red light fell upon her and a scream left her mouth as the ray burned her. People stood around and watched as the woman was burned with the red light.
Soon her scream died down and even her bones weren't left after Judgement has caught her.
Judgement, that's what happens when you run out of Life crystals.
Julius looked at the second message from the sanctuary and then went out of his car. It was almost a complete second day that he got to come to the sanctuary.
'So what do I do now? Go surrender myself? I have two days to make a decision.' Julius took a thought and then he relaxed and thought about his identity.
"This man is known as Mariel. I am... Now Mariel." He said with a smile and then he went to sleep.
...
Waking up, Julius stretched and the hole in his chest scared him every time he saw it. He couldn't help but think that he was just going to slump dead one day.
He stood up and glanced at the black notebook and the ring. He buried them both under the blanket andraised the door in the ground and revealed a small secret section where he dug to hide something in case.
He put the belongings there and then he stood up and walked outside.
The breeze was still as cool as the one on a rainy day and Julius put up a hood to cover his face as he walked through the tall gates of Midgard kingdom.
Upon reaching the gates, the guard looked at his face very well. They were both wearing a deep green police uniform with long rifles in their hands.
Julius didn't have a lot of time to think about it but he smiled as he couldn't imagine a warden dying by a bullet.
At the end, he wasn't sure if he had gone completely mad at this point. He was just reincarnated yesterday, and he's already getting taken away for having a power he knew nothing about.
After walking on a straight line for over an hour, Julius raised his head as he realized that he was standing in front of a huge building which resembled a tower.
This was the Warden's sanctuary.
*Creak.*
The small door of the gate opened up and then Julius looked inside the compound to see that it was empty.
As he took a step forward, a black bag went over his face and he fell unconscious again.
